Jordan, you have such a positive attitude and it's so nice to listen to your stories. The whole Charlie Chaplin studios and cottages are so beautiful. Paws up to Jah!
My Uncle produced THE CARPENTERS AT A&M RECORDS.I met "The Carpenters"!My Uncle produced at A&M RECORDS for 25+ years.I was on that lot hundreds and hundreds of times in the 60s 70s and 80s!
I love your old Hollywood Series. Charlie Chaplain was wonderful. Robert Downey Jr playing Chaplin was Great.💙 Wonderful job on this vlog Jordan, just Fabulous 💙
The Chaplin cottages were built after the summer of 1922 by Chaplin's studio set builders and carpenters. They were designed as a French village set for Chaplin who was preparing a script and film of Napoleon. The project was shelved due to legal problems in his personal life and The cottages subsequently sold. Thx for your vlog and walkabout. 👌
Historian Marc Wanamaker of Bison Archives has done extensive research on the cottages over the years and he tells the following; In 1923, a stage actress from New York had the cottages built. While there is a similarity to the buildings that Charlie Chaplin built for his studio, the structures she had built which are called storybook design, have no connection whatsoever to Charlie Chaplin or any of the Hollywood celebrities of the day. Doug Fairbanks carving a "Z" for his portrayal of Zorro is a total fabrication. Also his film version was released in 1920, three years before the cottages were built. They were never at any time under ownership by Chaplin or his studio.
This is my all time favorite place in Hollywood. Every time I play tour guide I take my guests here. I’ve always felt a connection to Chaplin since the movie. I watched it five times in the theater.
The cottages look like they are out of a storybook. So beautiful. The trees are leaning up into the cottages. So neat. Great vlog! This was so interesting.
How unique are the Charlie Chaplin Studious and his Cottages! The Cottages are the perfect get a way! If haunted, it may be any actor in Hollywood; that is long gone! Every building in Hollywood, was built by the Studios or Actors! Guess where I learned it? That's right; from you! Your vlogs have kept us informed about areas that we passed every day! Jordan, you made the right decision to be independent! Always have the best agent or agency! But FREEDOM IS BLISS! Do something that you enjoy and find a way to get paid for it! I still see a T.V. Show! Great Vlog! ⭐🎬⭐🐾
Before Henson Purchased this Property, it was home to A&M recording studios, Owned by Herb Alpert, The historic We Are The World was Recorded hers as was most of the Carpenters recordings
I visited here a few years ago before Jim Henson moved in. The "We Are The World" video with all of the music stars was filmed here. Perry Mason TV Show was filmed here. I think at least some of the Superman TV Shows were also filmed here....and of course some of the Red Skelton TV Shows.
Many years ago I had an interview for an internship in this building . While I was sitting in the waiting room I felt a very eerie presence, as if I was being watched though I was all alone . When I finally had the interview the lady said " notice anything?" I said well the place has a very interesting vibe she smiled and said "everybody says that , Many of us think this place is haunted"
I love Douglas Fairbanks in Gugna Din (Can't remember the spelling of the first name.}. Cary Grant and another famous actor was in it. Loved this so much that I had to watch it several times. 🥰
Alan Cofer they should have keeped it even though the retarded us government banned Charlie Chaplin on the theory he was a Communist so was banned entering the us again yet they allowed him bk in 1972 to pick up an award I see that as bad case of the us ass licking Charlie Chaplin
My dad had some artistic ability and back when he was a kid and Chaplin's movies came to his local movie house he would draw a picture of him and dress like him and the put the pic up at the theatre .if you haven't seen the movie Chaplin it's great and is one of my fav Downey pics.
Love all things Charlie Chaplin. Pure genius, he was. I’ve been to the studios also after researching the history. Just to walk where Chaplin did was pretty cool. So many great films were shot inside those gates. Glad that it is still here.
I just stumbled onto your vlog yesterday and absolutely love it! I visited LA in 1978 and it's so nice to be taken around to the various places that I saw back then. Unfortunately quite a few no longer exist except for photos/slides that were taken - ie. the Ambassador Hotel, the Brown Derby (Wiltshire), MGM (Sony) etc. I am a big fan of old Hollywood so your vlog holds great interest for me. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more fantastic stories!!
Super awesome vlog. Just two things. You said Chaplin sold it in 1960 to start united artist. He started united artist w Pickford and Douglas in 1919 and actually sold the studios to Red Skelton in 1953, because in 1952 the attorney general revoked chaplains re enter permit after the World Primer of "limelight" in London. I'm not being a hater I enjoy your videos I've actually learned some awesome facts from them. Keep up the good job Jordan and jah is the best!
These are great videos Jordan - the story of Charlie Chaplin is incredible - abject poverty in London to King of Hollywood. Keep them coming and stay positive.
Another GREAT vlog, Jordan!! It's amazing that you mentioned 1918 - that was the year my Dad was born!! I love the Chaplain cottages - wish I could live there!! Keep up the good vlogs, Jordan!!
The corner of the Chaplin Studios that you first showed in your film was actually used in the film, "A Days Pleasure." You see Charlie taking his family out for the day in a Model T, and you can clearly see that corner of his studio being used as his house in the film. It is the corner of the building you showed attached to the large studio buildings, and when you look at the shot, the opposite side of the street has little development compared to the present time. However, the original design of the building is still intact and is really cool to see.
I have been binge watching your stuff all this past week. I must say this is one of THE most inspiring ones as you talk about past jobs and just wanting your freedom. I can relate as I have been in an office (different ones)over the years feeling stuck . Then when there are days off I'm too tired to even think of leaving my house for fun. After my last office job, I think I am done . 😊You have a fun interesting life and I love the knowledge you share and the pace of your videos.
Hello I love watching your vlogs. Some years back i discover the cottage style homes on poinsettia off of Sunset. I used to go often the tenants were nice they would let me. Such a place. I walked around , It felt snow white and 7 drawfs were going to appear from around the corner. On one occasion I met the manager he gave me a list of the famous of the tenants with their apt numbers. One of the converted apts in the back was used as horse stables. The actors would ride horses to the studio
Great vids. A & M was Chaplin Studios. I shot a video there when it was A & M. What a great experience to be on that lot with all that history. Thank you for you fun vids. Pat your pup for me!
My Uncle worked for A&M RECORDS FOR 25+ years. A&M bought the lot from Chaplin [Red Skelton] in 1966~Herb Alpert & Jerry Moss.I've been on that lot and studio hundreds and hundreds of times in the 60s 70s and 80s.A&M sold it to Jim Henson Studios in the year 2000.
My nephew worked for A and M years ago any he took me for a tour of the studios late at night when nobody was there.Super interesting.Definitely felt the spirit of Charlie Chaplin.
Great video Jordan, I love the style architecture of the studio and cottages. This video bought back memories, my son and i walked past there everyday when we stay around corner. Thank you for the upload :)
My son was born on December 7th 1988. He would watch old movies with me on TCM He told me he has a old soul. I told him I do too. He loved watching The Grapes of Wrath. He lives near Cincinnati. He's a big sports of fan. Born and grew up in Tampa Fl. He's now a sport fan for Ohio.
These videos are awesome!!! I'm a Hollywood resident as well and it's awesome to see all of these things that are in my backyard! I always look forward to your videos!
Hi, love your vlogs. I'm pretty sure that you're mistaken, however, on the location of A&M Records. A&M was at the actual former Chaplin Studio, not a block down where AAofDA is. We Are the World was recorded there, The Carpenters, et al. It had a reputation as a great sounding studio. Thanks for your vlogs!
why not do one at Sunset & Gower Studio? Check it out....lots of filming was done there? You walked right by it on your Chaplin Studios Video. It was the Old Columbia Pictures lot....and Screen Gems TV productions. Donna reed Show, Dennis the Menace,Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie and others.
I read that Chaplin designed the studios himself and he designed the front facade to look like an English village. And when the city widened the street in the 1920's they moved the entire English village front facade back fifteen feet.
I know it's a 4 year old youtube, but I just want to tell you, your efforts are appreciated. I love seeing these tours of interesting places in L A. Thanks
I’ve read chaplins biography he truly was a fascinating person ..I feel those original slabs that he signed off they are in at red skeletons university he attended Mayb should be returned to Chaplin’s studio.. it’s the right thing to do... hope one day to visit this place

Thank you i really enjoyed this video.take care.
the roof of the cottage looks very familiar in the kid there's a scene where Chaplin is climbing some rooftops and I swear it looks just like this roof with these slate stone slabs
CHAPLIN COTTAGES NEVER OWNED BY CHAPLIN. Enjoy your vlogs. A aciuple of additional things about rhis site is to the north along Sunset Blvd. where a strip mall with Ross and 7-11 are is qhere Charlie Chaplin had his live-in cottage. Also the studios are where the song WE ARE THE WORLD was recorded.
Hi jordan , in the vlog you forgot to mention how the foot prints and charlies signature got back there after Red skelton took the original? did charlie sign two of them and where was the other one?
Jordan, you have such a positive attitude and it's so nice to listen to your stories. The whole Charlie Chaplin studios and cottages are so beautiful. Paws up to Jah!
That was also A&M Records with Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss! I worked there for a few years in the 70's... Best job EVER!

Fascinating information about Charlie Chaplin's old studio.
The Chaplin cottages were built after the summer of 1922 by Chaplin's studio set builders and carpenters. They were designed as a French village set for Chaplin who was preparing a script and film of Napoleon. The project was shelved due to legal problems in his personal life and
The cottages subsequently sold.

This is my all time favorite place in Hollywood. Every time I play tour guide I take my guests here. I’ve always felt a connection to Chaplin since the movie. I watched it five times in the theater.
I’m a big Chaplin fan. I’ve always wanted to visit his legendary studio in Hollywood.
The cottages look like they are out of a storybook. So beautiful. The trees are leaning up into the cottages. So neat. Great vlog! This was so interesting.
I love Chaplin, and it's nice to see some of his history preserved.
Getting into the Chaplin Studios is my all-time dream right now. Chaplin is very dear to me.
It was good to hear about the Charlie Chaplan Cottages.

Awesome videos. Have seen pictures of the studios when Chaplin first opened them and it was in the middle of a bunch of orange groves. All long gone.
Yes Ive seen that video too. And the road was a dirt path.
I just love your vlogs!!!
When Chaplin wasn't allowed entry back into the US, his wife sold the studio in 1952/53. It went thru various names and owners thru the years.

The Chaplin movie was filmed in Fillmore ca. At the old milk dairy & in Bardsdaile ca they built the prop for the mansion scene. 👊

Definitely the Huel Hauser of Hollywood / LA . Learn more about my own city.
I read that Chaplin designed the studios himself and he designed the front facade to look like an English village. And when the city widened the street in the 1920's they moved the entire English village front facade back fifteen feet.
Great vid! so if the original steps are in a museum, who signed those?
Stan Ollie I couldn't find out. I think it was made from the original somehow.. sounds like a job for Rockford
Not one mention of his main co star (& squeeze) Edna Purviance.
I know it's a 4 year old youtube, but I just want to tell you, your efforts are appreciated. I love seeing these tours of interesting places in L A. Thanks
