Of course more Tanya! I mean how more Canadian can we get here: Timmy's visor, Cobra chickens snacking on the course, bleeped-out profanity, and a really level-headed coach-boyfriend 😂🍁 And kudos to Tanya for being a good sport and posting her round 👏🏻👏🏻
Just discovered this channel and am really enjoying it as a fairly novice golfer (1+ year), though a more elderly one (60) than you two.. I found this video especially relatable, as I still have rounds like this when far too much goes wrong, and I get as infuriated as Tanya. Somehow it's made worse when I am hitting some decent shots as well, and think 'why can't I do that all/ more of the time?' Also relate to the issue that's mentioned here and one some of the other videos, about the pressure you feel as a novice from people you're holding up (and who you feel are maybe watching your errors). Being older maybe helps that a bit - you tend to care a bit less about what people think about you - but not much. FWIW my top novice tip is not to forget that you are making progress. Like, now, when I get frustrated with hitting bad shots I try to tell myself that it isn't that long since I was barely hitting shots at all. Anyway, thanks again for these videos.
Your doing great. Three years ago I started playing again and ranged between a 22-25 hcp. The next year i got to a 17hcp. Last year I was14-15hcp. This year I simplified everything I completely cleared my mind when over the ball. I just turn back and turn through not trying to kill it since I have slowed down over my shot or at least feel like i have slowed down and plan from pin back for my shots i am now an 11.6 hcp so far this year. It just takes practice and it will get there. Keep up the grind she is doing great
Our biggest issue right now is finding time to play 😭 we only play once every week or 2. Hoping to crank up the grind so we can start seeing some improvement 💪
Thanks for the videos. Great job. Hope to see you guys at the Dorval Golf Course. I’ll watch for Tanya’s tantrums.😂. Maybe hit the driving range a bit more and relax on your shots. Pincourt has a nice driving range. Cheers🍺🍺
Stick with it Tanya. I recommend a lesson or two from a pro. Looks like a solid golfer is in there. Keep practicing to find YOUR way. What works for someone else won’t always work for you. This is my third year playing and I could see myself improving a little more by the end of each season, because we have winters where I live. One day you’ll have a light bulb moment and it’ll all start coming together. I started as a 30+ handicap and 2.5 years later 16. Golf is 90% mental and you must play with a relaxed mind and body. Good luck!
Thank you!!! First off, the winters are so tough - it’s like you lose your progress in the winter, if sometimes feels like 2 steps forward and 1 step back. And I really want a swing coach, I just need to find the right one - I’m really afraid of getting coached by someone who teaches me bad habits. I did take a few lessons last year and I felt like the instructor was really mailing it in and did not give me any solid tips or drills - which was disappointing. When I find the right coach, I’ll never let go.
Unfortunately golf is a game you need to practice and practice and .. well you know!.. most of us do not have the time to spend 4 /5 hours a day to be really good .. Take it in Your stride and just enjoy being out there.
Exactly this! Currently, we only get to play 9 holes once a week. We are just enjoying the time outside together and also trying to hit the ball properly 😅
Eh amigo! Sorry for spamming the comments on your one video. But just wanted to ask what you use for your shot tracer? I guess there’s an app out there? Any info would be hella appreciated! Also, one quick thing I noticed with Tanya’s swing! I was doing the same til I watched a Rick Shiels video tbh. But you want to let your arms hang more naturally. It looks like she is reaching towards the ball at set up which is likely causing the toes strikes. I’m a high handicapper too (28) and I still get what I refer too as “gitty” and set up a bit far wanting to get after it but I remind myself quickly it’s not the strat. Idk how tall Tanya is but gripping down on the club will help. Sorry if that was all over the place. But it’s 2:30 in the morning in Ontario lol
It's literally called "Shot Tracer" app 😂 there's a version on android/ios that can get the job done, and there's a version for PC/Mac that's more capable but you need to pay for a license.
You know we'll try to "fix her" or anyone else so my two cents is her feet move a lot from toe to heel. She should have her weight on the balls of her feet and feel like her lead knees move towards the trail knee and then put the weight back to her lead foot prior to the down swing starting. Needs to bend trail knee a little. Too stiff when chipping and bunker shots. Limits rotation. Her trail hand is under the club so club face will be opened causing serious fade.Trail hand should be more neutral so she shouldn't have to aim left to counter the fade. Should not be hitting the ball in bunker. Should lay club flat and feel it slide under the sand-The sand will make the ball jump/pop. Everything else is creativity when judging distances and putting surface speeds. Have fund and hope to see more. It helps when the host are eye friendly. All the way from the USA Philly area.
Good eye for catching the toe heel thing - I started doing that to get the feel of my weight in the rotation and then I have kept doing it since. And, yes - I really need to work on transferring my weight from my back foot into my front foot sooner in my swing and really going through it.... That's definitely why I'm hitting my shots left (I think right too?) - I'm taking the divot before hitting the ball, so my contact point is wrong.
@@iamtanyamarie Thanks for the response. Keep the hot head attitude as long as it doesn't over affect you from having fun. We've all been there. Its hard getting to the practice range but google and try the 3 different grips Weak, Neutral, Strong at range or on course(hard to practice on course) and one may match your swing. Most start with Neutral and adjust. Strong grip closes the club face and will give you way Left, some Straight if timed right and hits to the right. Weak usually goes mostly right leaving club face opened and Neutral is easier to get straight shots. Hope this helps and I like to see 18 holes and 30 minute plus videos. Well wishes and best regards. @JeffromTAirport
Friendly reminder that if you’re gunna shank and drop 3-4 balls a hole, don’t then complain about the pace of play of others. Good vid and hope to see improvement!
This is very true!! Lucky for us, we were a threesome stuck behind some very slow foursomes, so we had time to kill. It's not in the video but we had to wait several minutes every hole before teeing off. Hopefully we get to the point where we don't have to drop any balls 💪
Hey! Great video! I just posted my first one last week. I really appreciate your editing style-it's so soothing and well done. I'd love to learn a few tips from you if you're open to it! Also, it would be fantastic to play a round together sometime. I'm from the South Shore of Montreal. 😊 Cheers!
Thanks! Watching your video right now and honestly, a really good video for your first one. My first video was really terrible. The more you make videos, the better you'll get at making them. (I think the audio is mostly in the left channel for some reason) But your presence is there, and you look comfortable in front of the camera. It gets easier to film and play the more you do it! Also side note, you're really good! I hope to be able to play like you soon. We should play together before the end of the season!
@@fromduffertodriver Oh, you're right, I hadn't even noticed the sound issue! I'll make sure to check it for my future videos. This wasn't a good round for Tanya (in case it wasn't obvious in the video). But my handicap scoring app only goes up to 34, so maybe she's higher. I post rounds on this channel whether they are good or bad, because I feel like it's a better indication of what golf is actually like. Hope you enjoy! 😊
I see potential there. Looks quite tidy when it all comes together. You are spot on about the mind game, you need to plot your way around and play away from danger. Developing a view short game too. Good watch though. With enjoyment will come improvement.
No high handicap golfer should ever be getting angry out on the course - they aren't even close to good enough to warrant that. Those types of shots are their norm and should be expected, and as a very sub-par golfer, they need to realize that and accept it.
One of the harder things to accept when learning golf! It gets frustrating when you know that you can hit a certain shot, and then mess it up 😔. It's all about practice

Using the Shot Tracer Pro app on my PC. I add the shots manually, it's a little time consuming 😫
