    As an 18 handicap I can say that you have VERY good swing mechanics (better than mine if I'm being honest), and you aren't far off at all! Without those two disaster holes you were looking great brother. Golf can be so frustrating but also so fun an rewarding. Thanks for the content.

    Line your ball up to where you want to putt, consider any breaks etc. Especially on those very short putts, take that extra 10 seconds and line the ball up to the hole with the line or arrow on your ball. This has greatly improved my putting and I always putt with the pin out. My weakest part of my game is my chipping, I always thin it.

    • @yeahright5132
      @yeahright5132 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's so annoying when people use the line especially high handicappers.. they line it up, step up to the ball nope that's not right.. adjust it a quarter of a simple.. nope that's not right.. another adjustment, then another then another... just read the putt, pick a mark on the green just in front on that line and putt over it.

    • @GolfInHawaii69
      @GolfInHawaii69 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm a negative handicap and never use the lines on the ball since I find it kinda distracting and rather focus on reading the breaks.

  • @callmedoc5635

    I’d suggest taking the pin out and on such a short course maybe using the driver less. Your swing looks better than a 30 handicapper

      @@MGGolf I made it down to 25.7. Helps that I shot a 93 at a 134 slope course recently. Over the past couple months was a lot of work on tempo, realizing I don’t need as deep a backswing / power, divot depth, aim, changing to a straighter putting stroke, ensuring sweet spot contact on all parts of the bag, and practice chipping off feel within 30 yards. Oh yeah a lot of course management (i.e. taking my medicine by punching out and splitting up long 2nd shots to a comfortable 3rd shot.

Once you consistently start breaking 90 which I don’t think your far off, golf became a lot more enjoyable to me. That might be why your club face is turning. I bet if you you shot those hips forward and let the arms follow you’ll see a more consistent flight. Awesome video! I also set myself up on this golfing journey a few years ago and since have improved. A couple of pointers along the way to lower your score, without getting too detailed, are chips and putts. Focus on pace and contact for putts and mini 20-50yard chips with different ball placements to find trajectory for those pesky situations. Overall, I play with high handicappers and you sir, swing like you are about to be a mid handicapper soon .

      Hey Gary. Thanks for checking out the channel. And welcome back to the game. I'm uploading a video today that has a few tips I've picked up through the year, that may be helpful if you're struggling with breaking 100. Mostly course management things. But things that helped me to finally break 90. Lessons will definitely get your body back into the "swing" of things. (Sorry for the pun, had to do it). Good course management will get you to your goal very quickly even with a less than perfect swing.

    Regarding your rules question, there is the actual rules and what most recreational golfers will do. The rules states that if you can't find it, take a penalty stroke and go back and tee it up for your third. The way most people will play it is how you did - play your third from where you think it is around. Keep swinging. It's a great game.

      @MGGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Charles. That's how I normally play it. I want to start being more true to the rules and the game as intended to play. I guess it all would come down to how busy the course is and keeping with pace of play

    • @MGGolf
      @MGGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If Im seeing a pattern I'll typically adjust for it. Sometimes the body isn't moving how it typically does due to muscle tiredness or weakness that you might not even feel. I do reassess throughout the game tho. Your right about over compensating tho. Always make minor adjustments and assess the outcome. ✌️

    First time watching one of your videos. A couple of observations from an amateur who is on a similar journey and been exactly where you are not that long ago. I feel you could have easily shaved off 6-7 strokes by introducing calmness and smoother swing mechanics. And take a peek at your videos again and look at the chicken wing issue. It's super clear in most of your swings. That left elbow is getting away on you. Tuck it in! Clubs appear a bit too short but this could be due to camera angle, but your posture seems exaggerated. You could also stand to relax a bit (a lot) and purge that tension that is glaring yet totally understandable with high handicap players. Get rid of most of your tension during your setup/practice swing, BEFORE entering tee box. Once in tee box address the ball and commit, then think easy smooooth accelerated swing. Do whatever you can to help calm your mind..breathing, thinking positive thoughts ect. Shoot for 200 yards with driver, nothing further for awhile. I know you can send it 250+ but don't..for awhile. Focus on straight line and easier smooth zero pressure swings. Then gradually increase swing speed. Also, focus on BALANCE and ending your swing with bottom right sole up and facing backwards, and your belt buckle facing your target. Hips chest everything facing the target after your swing. If I'm standing in front of you facing you when you're at address, I should be able to see your left shoulder blade after your swing. Stretch that out! Practice smooth easy chipping, no tension...nothing but zen in your mind. Hit the practice chipping green with ONE wedge...56 seems to be your goto. Marry that club, sleep with it, get to know it intimately and you'll see amazing results around the green. You'll be a sniper with it in no time. Your putting appears stabby. Again, smooooth putting, soft grip and rock those shoulders smoooothly and follow through with your putter. Practice finishing your putting stroke by holding our putter in the air where it naturally stops. This will help promote smooooth putting. And don't look up as you putt. keep your head down only looking a foot in front of the ball. Try addressing the ball so that it's slightly back of centre when putting. This helped me tremendously. Anyway, that's my .02 *Subscribed to follow your journey*.

    That’s not a bad score at all considering your handicap. I played 18 today, and shot 50/53-103. Now this year has been the first time ever since I’ve been playing golf that I’m playing every week. The previous years I would play once maybe twice a year, but now I’m fully invested in trying to play well. So far this year, I’m staying in the low 100’s (with a 95 score) and I know I can break 100 easily if I stop pulling my tee shots every so often. It’s good to see videos like this that shows that us amateur golfers are all in the same boat. Keep up the good content and keep playing.

    A lot of potential in your game.
    I think you could gain most by working on your accuracy, mainly because you're spraying the ball off the tee more than you should. Also, don't automatically use a driver off the tee on par-4 holes unless you absolutely need all of the distance it provides. A straight 6-iron will serve you better than a hooked drive, mainly because the trouble is usually off to the sides of each fairway (including overhanging tree limbs).

    I have been told that my handicap is in the low teens....but it looks to me as though you swing better than I do. I'd say just losen up a little. It looks as though you have a good amount of tension in your arms and the most important thing I learned was to really have a lose feeling in the arms, chest, shoulders, back etc. You obviously need some grip pressure but apart from that, the motion should be smooth and fluid. You have everything you need to knock 20 strokes off your scores. I wish you the best of luck!

    Soild round mate. You would be one of the best 30 golfers going around, you will come down quickly. I play off a 1 and I would say your course management and how you thought about getting around was awesome. I would focus on your short game. Your stance is a bit too wide and your not rotating your body enough with your chips. I would also suggest to chip with like a 9 or 8 iron on shots when you have plenty to green to work with, seems like you were taking a lot of loft on those shots and where leaving yourself bigger putts then you would like. Keep up the good work tho, looking forward to seeing you get better 👍

    Good job of breaking 50. I noticed that the majority of your drives tend to draw to the left. I also notice that you tend to tee the ball up in the middle of the tee box (or maybe slightly to the left). Try to take advantage of the entire teeing area. You can tee up anywhere between the markers and up to 2 club-lengths behind the markers. You don't need to stand in the tee box, only your ball needs to be between the markers, not you. So, I would recommend teeing up on the very far left side of the tee box and aim down the right side of the fairway. This gives you the largest margin for error on your draw/hook. Yes, you may occasionally double-cross yourself and push one right but statistically you'll have a better chance of putting the ball in play over the long haul. Best of luck. Keep up the good work.

    • @MGGolf
      @MGGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much Leemz. I typically play a cut/slice so I tee up on the left and aim down the left. I really don't know what was going on that round with the draw/hook lol. That was my first round of the year and a new driver so I was all messed up. But I totally agree with you about taking advantage of the entire tee box, and don't think enough people do it. ✌️

  • @hoanglongnguyen6684

    If u land in the red penalty zone and want to drop a ball u may mark a drop point with a tee or something else, not further than double the length of your longest club from the crossing point and not closer to the pin, so theres a half circle created when u mark the spot. The ball has to land within 1 club length of the mark. If it drops out of the zone by rolling too far away or closer to the pin (in the front half circle of the mark) u have two more chances to drop the ball. If your third drop fails u have to lay down the ball on the landing point of your third drop.

    Regarding the last hole and the ruling(s), it depends and it can get complicated.
    If the first shot may have been headed towards a penalty area, then you're not allowed to hit what appeared to be a provisional ball. Instead, you would attempt to locate your ball and if you reasonably conclude that it came to rest in the penalty area, then you would drop near the spot where the ball last entered the penalty area under a penalty of one stroke.
    If the first shot was headed in the direction of a non-penalty area, you may hit a provisional ball off the tee. If you locate your original ball, you must play it and abandon the provisional ball. If you cannot locate your original ball then you would play the provisional ball under a penalty of one stroke.
    In general, you must be careful about when and where to just drop a ball and play it. Under most circumstances, that ball becomes the ball in play regardless of what happened to your original ball.

    Did you change putting grips mid round?

      I did... Wasnt sure anyone would notice. That claw grip was not working for me. Had to try something different. Good eye

    Changing to a mallet putter messed up my short game too. Need a lot more practice with it.

      I experimented with different styles of gripping the putter recently. Might be worth a try ✌️

    I couldn't believe you're a high-20s handicap when we have the same game & same distances. Then I saw the 5 missed putts inside 3 feet LOL. So sorry man; golf is a funny game. I'm a 17.5HC and I reliably top 1-2 balls per round too. Other than the short putts, I'd suggest a tiny bit more course management? The 9th hole in this video has an insanely narrow fairway, and is only 310 yards. I'd have gone 7i, 8i and then likely have two putts for par. Just a thought -- love the content and keep at it.

      @MGGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree on the course management. Everytime I step up to hole 9 I know I shouldn't be hitting driver. But then I think if I hit it just right I can get close to the green. Hasn't happened yet. And the short putts... I almost went home after that. But that's just where I'm at right now. So I started investing time at the practice green. Check out my newer video. Putts got a little better. I appreciate the input and checking out my video Gordon. See ya in the next one. ✌️

      Hey Vinny. It's just called "shot tracer app" in the app store. I think I linked their website in my newer videos

    Mark, you're fighting yourself on the swing. Check where you're at. Your alignment is ALWAYS right. Even when you said you're adjusting left... your feet were still pointing 45 yards OB to the right. Get some alignment sticks and put in the work. Swing is fine! Keep it up. Putting meltdowns happen to each and everyone one of us!

    • @MGGolf
      @MGGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually just went to the range and tried practicing with alignment sticks. For some reason it just doesn't work with the way my brain lines me up. This is something I'm def bringing up at my next swing lesson. At least to come up with possible alignment drills that will work for the way my mind sees things. I really appreciate the input Craig. Thank you so much. ✌️

      @@MGGolf No problem! I struggle with it myself to this day even. Your body will always fight with your mind on alignment. Wait until your swing gets ironed out and you start to control your ball right/left and THEN you fight your alignment issues. It's a JOURNEY my man. Don't overload yourself with fixes. Take one thing. Work on it, fix it, and move on to the next. I'm not a licensed PGA instructor, but I'll always be happy to help you out with things just to get you better. Side note. Another reason why you "flip" your hands and get weak at impact. You're a little too bent over at the waist and your mind overcompensates because your body can't clear so you cast or "flip" to make contact. I'm guessing you had some sort of baseball backround? Or just great eye-hand coordination?
