I always found it weird how Oda gave the name of arguably one of the most well-known and successful pirates to such a minor character, and always seemed to set him apart from the rest in the ways you mentioned. Also, if I had to guess a previous name for Lafitte, I would literally just go for Jean-Pierre, as that's a name in and of itself in French, and it references both the real life Lafittes by combining them together, much the same way the character of One Piece's Lafitte is a combination of the two.
I say rocks were more like usa olympic team so many powerhouses but hard to paint the number 1 since they all should be leading their team, blackbeards is 2019 warriors, rogers is the bulls, luffy crew i honestly want to say last years nuggets cuz im a nuggets fan but it works luffy is like jokic because the crew goes however luffy chooses with all faith in him, zoro as jamal because he can also carry the crew when he needs to and is a killer against big names (lakers) sanji as mpj he has potential to be the number 2 but is a slower developer, jimbie as aaron gordon doing the dirty work, ussop as kcp makes some clutch plays sometimes but the spurs would prob work better im just a huge nuggets fan lmao
I feel like it's worth mentioning that Laffitte's wanted poster as seen in Stampede makes him look very similar to this shadowy figure on the Rocks crew
May I recommend Vinlan D. Ragnar? He was one of the ONLY One Piece youtubers who predicted Luffy unlocking Advanced Conquerors Haki and the true identity of his devil fruit.
I agree with Lafitte being the hidden mastermind behind the BB pirates, yet I also think that Lafitte is actually Hattori, hypnotizing Lucci and thus able to access wg info
Since the introduction of Egghead Island I've wondered so much about Lafitte. He's the only one in the crew "without" a devil fruit reveal. I love that Oda uses real pirate references for his characters too. Like Kidd being the unluckiest pirate 💀
Latfitte is a literal demon sheriff, meaning he can manipulate devil fruit powers(wrangling them from one person to another and even make them behave when there's two "devils" in one person) I believe this is his devil fruit power.
It’s possible his birthday (March 13th) is a reference to Julius Ceasars “beware the ides of March”(13th-15th). If that’s true, I think Laffite is Odas Cassius, the man who helps Caesar become the Emporer of Rome but immediately convinces Caesars closest allies that he’s accumulated too much power and ultimately masterminds his assassination. Which would also play into the siren (and possible strix) lore, leading men to what they want for their own personal gain.
very interesting, remember when pizarro was in the burning island saying maybe he should be captain, and he is the first to insist , we the bb pirates, i will kill you lol,
Definitely sold on this idea. I wonder which straw hat he ends up fighting all things considering. Perhaps if brook’s crew was defeated by rocks then Lafitte may have defeated him before which sets up a beautiful future fight.
Brook and his crew where ended approximatly about 50 years before timeskip (or 12 years before God Valley). this would make Lafitte a man in his mid to late 60´s. and this could make him not only the mastermind behind and founder of the Blackbeard Pirates but maybe even the Rocks Pirates as well.
Sanji will probably fight him seeing how he's seemingly one of BB's top people and has whacky abilities (something decently common with Sanji's opponents)

"Laffitte is Devil behind Blackbeard's shoulders" My man, that's some poetry. Kid you not me and my long time friend just recently touched on this topic. Laffitte is sus af. Cool vid.
this wouldn't really be a black zetsu moment? this wouidn't be lafitte manipulating blackbeard to his end, this would be lafitte mentoring blackbeard to achieve a shared dream, not a black zetsu, but an equal and opposite to Rayleigh
This doesn't make sense lol the reason black zetsu was bad is because it was an asspull with no real foreshadowing or anything. Lafitte is CLEARLY no matter what purpose u think he serves in the narrative being emphasized as different from the rest of blackbeards crew an pretty much anyone in the story as soon as we meet him lol. COMPLETELY different cases
I HAVE BEEN MAKING THIS POINT MY ENTIRE TIME WATCHING ONE PIECE. 8:21 was the realization I had that Lafitte is no normal pirate. With all of those powerhouses, with all of the security, with it being Mariejois, HOW DO YOU SNEAK PAST ALL OF THAT? Also, could this be the pirate Shanks went to talk to the Gorosei about? And could this be the lurking legend?
No. Shanks was talking about Blackbeard. That he is a threat they shouldn't ignore. Which is true. I mean 1 of they members could become a whole damn island
I always pay attention to how Oda portrays a character. The way he introduced Laffitte into the story was always so interesting. I really hope he is stronger than what many expect him to be. I always dreamed of Sanji fighting him in the eventual showdown between both pirate crews.
Being from Louisiana I heard stories of this dude growing up and supposedly theres good evidence to indicate he has treasure berried somewhere near Louisiana that is still unfound but likely just local legend. There was always a Pirate themed festival every year in my home town called Contraband Days that people would talk about a lot of the lore since Piracy was was so prevalent in that area.
Winn Parish here. Home of the West Kimbrell gang of post civil war marauders. We have a location deep in Kisatche called Coochie Break (weird name, but true) where there is a series of hidden caves where cutthroats and robbers would hide away themselves and their treasure. Place is so hard to get to, but once you're there it's like you've stepped through a barrier to a different world that won't let you leave. Absolutely love it. It's less than 50 miles from Red River so...maybe that's it. You can get there from Red River without ever leaving the water, I think.
The connections to the real life Lafitte are sick. The two death dates makes it seem like the character’ll be defeated at the fake age of 41/42, when he’s actually 94/95. Also, it’s entirely possible that someone with the Toshi Toshi no Mi used it on Lafitte at God Valley to make him ~3(?) years old, and then he had to grow up again in the West Blue (where God Valley was). Then that Devil Fruit user died before Bonney got the Toshi Toshi no Mi.
I'm not convinced he faked his death as a Rock Pirate one the dude in the picture has 4 arms like the zombie from Thrillers Bark with Silver Axe, John, and that armored fishmen, and 2 if he was at God Valley even as a 3 year old it makes a lot of sense that he was a rabbit for the slaughter. The World Nobles do not give a fuck about life even little children lives are forfeit and 3 year olds have some form of seeing the world around them. They enslaved Ginny when she was 4 and Bonney was experimented on as a newborn to test Physical Youth through an extract probably as a way for Essence Transfer, faking his death is possible if he was 3 to get away from a Buster Call that went to hell and hid around dead people most likely his parents to cover up so he wouldn't be hunted
I love how you've been drawing on the real-life inspirations of characters over your past couple of videos. It's a really interesting way to support your theories. Also, elite Superbad reference. I love that movie.
This is by far my favorite One Piece channel on TH-cam, and this Laffite theory is absolutely awesome. Congrats, The Hidden Island, and thank you for your content!
This theory actually crosses over with another theory I have jotted down somewhere. Have a look into "Baron Samedi" also known as "Baron La Croix". Laffitte's character design works really well with the Baron. Baron Samedi is also one of the Iwa of Haitian Vodou like "Joyboy". I especially liked how you included Treble in the theory since I agree 100%. Oda often creates and older parent-like figure who influenced the villain to go down their dark path in the first place (Treble, Streusen, Higurashi and who knows, maybe even Gorosei).
Baron samedi is more likely brook….on zou the animals chasing him call him baron corpse or corpse baron. There’s a video out about this theory too that goes way more in depth, brooks whole flow is baron samedi
It is possible that his father was a rock's pirate and he's picking up his father's dream him having been an infant at the time. His father survived the incident. Escaped raised his son and trained him to take over where he had failed giving him secret knowledge that he had or whatever
Another thing is that teach gave shanks scar and shanks stated that he was pretty surprised by how strong teach , could be Lafitte deactivating shanks observation haki ,that would make him Op character.
I think you’re certainly onto something! There is most definitely something up with Laffitte. He’s extra ordinary & special in some very unique way for sure. No doubt he will play a very important role eventually & is likely more powerful & way more dangerous than we originally thought & expected.
NOOOOOOO!!! JUST BY THUMBNAIL ALONE!!! I HAD THIS THOUGHT IN MY HEAD FOR A LONG TIME, I THINK HE IS VERY SUSPECT, THERES HIS ACTIONS AND HIS WORDS IN CERTAIN SCENES, IT REMINDS ME OF CHARACTERS MOMENTS LIKE BLACK ZETSU FROM NARUTO I CAN’T WAIT TO DIVE IN THIS VIDEO AND SEE HOW MUCH WE THOUGHT ALIKE AND HOW MUCH I MAY HAVE MISSED!! SEEING THIS THUMBNAIL GOT ME SO HYPED MAN!!!!
This theory is amazingly cool and well put together! Combine this with the fact that we have the Blackbeard Pirates lurking at Egghead, with only Catarina and Laffitte unaccounted for amongst their ranks. Part of Rocks or not, Laffitte will absolutely play a major role going forwards! Another possibility for a Blackbeard Pirate with connections to Rocks would be if Stussy turns out to be part of the crew as a hidden last member. Clones retain the personality of their original selves, which is something nobody ever brings up ever when discussing Stussy and her allegiances.
Just saw the title and figured out who the mastermind is! It’s Stronger isn’t it?😀 I mean he always was Stronger among the whole group🐴 He’s coming for you and he ain’t just horsing around!
Lafitte having an interaction with St. Saturn after he gets downed by Luffy/Kuma/Bonney sounding even more likely now. Saint Saturn recognizing him or saying some shit like "I know who you really are." cause they both would've been at God Valley. I'm betting all my money on Lafitte being the one in that Blackbeard ship at egghead, I wonder how nobody has noticed the ship yet though.
You are definitely on to something here... seriously i always thought laffite was sus but all these wierd things really starting to add up and the jean connection is mint👍
I honestly love this theory. I’ve always thought this character was rather intriguing due thanks to his introduction, I kinda hope this is true because having him be a member of the rocks pirates that’s been hiding behind the scenes unlike whitebeard, kaido, big mom and shiki, would be really cool! To also see him bring up one of the final antagonists of the story is pretty sick as well. Even if this isn’t true I know odas cooking something 😤😤
I really like this theory! My only concern is that (if this is true) they don’t try to make Laffite the final villain of the story like what happened with Madara in Naruto. They set him up to be the final big baddie and then just kinda randomly threw Kaguya in and said “oh no, she’s behind everything.” Great video though!!! 10/10! And I can’t wait to learn more about the BB pirates!!!!
The world works in mysterious ways, I just so happened to explode about this very same ish idea to my best friend yesterday but what brought this thought on to look into Laffitte was actually because I was watching Stampede. In the movie Laffittes bounty poster looks even closer to the silhouetted man we see in 1096. Also his bounty being so low, even if it’s a low bounty, the fact some guy who’s bounty is roughly around east blue luffy goes to the holy land is baffling. Great video way better articulated than it was in my head and when I started writing about it. You have a new sub here.
We know that Blackbeard joined the Whitebeard Pirates as a kid (8?10?12?) and spent his life among them before killing Thatch. Somehow months later while on the run, (of course when Ace does find him Teach is confused as to why so maybe he was never worried/stopped caring once he he left the New World) we see that he has a fully formed crew, small that it is and the original members do seem fiercely loyal to him Unlike the Impel Down escapees. Now, at this point the Straw Hats had only been sailing for 2-3 months themselves and are similarly loyal to Luffy but I don't think BB saved DocQ & Stronger from a gluttonous king or anything (unless that's why they attacked Drum before the SHs got there lol lmao), so when would he have found the time to meet them and form a crew? The gap between getting the YamiYami Fruit and the encounter on Jaya has always interested me more than his Mysterious Origins tbh. Lafitte being a Trebol analog setting things up in the background could explain where the other three came from "Hey Teach, I found an angry bodybuilder!" "Perfect, good dumb first mate material! Tell that Auger guy he only has to be the sniper now. I did. He didn't seem surprised. Said it was fate. That's my sniper alright. You hold the fort down Lafitte, I get the feeling that devil fruit will fall into my hands any day now. any day now. Aye aye Cap'n" As for the meat of your theory, it's very neat! I never realized Lafitte was in the 40s range like BB, Not much else to say about it, hence the tangent I wrote. So weird to just have the Rocks Pirates crew as a two-page spread we can stare at and teorize over now.
@@MasquedMochaI read it and also instantly felt the classic tekken nerdy manic and breathless energy; imagining him waving his hands all over the place, getting way too into random passing details that don’t make too much sense but ultimately ended up appreciated his goofy spunk nonetheless!
I love this theory. The only part that makes me doubt is, if Laffite was indeed some kind of manipulator so smart and careful, I don't think he would have made that proposal to Teach about taking Kuzan's power. He would have probably known how dangerous Kuzan is. But until now, none of the members of Teach's crew seem "that" smart, to be fair. Even Teach himself is still 80% a mystery and none of the encounters or fights he had, made him seem a like an actual threat apart from raw power from his devil fruits. Still waiting to learn how he was able to leave that scar on Shanks' face.
Well it could also be that Lafitte said that because he knows they can take him that easily, Kuzan is very strong no doubt but not only is he weakened but we also have no idea of the true strength of the Black beard pirates and this mysterious figure that is Lafitte, specially since they are one of the biggest contenders for the one piece and are definitely going to play a big role in the futre of the story.
Also, people male mostakes, no matter how powerful or smart, you are bound to make mostakes, its entirely possible Laffite got overconfident with the crew
As someone with Theological background I can tell you that you are right on the Angel part with the wings on the back instead of an arm replacement. BUT!!! There is a differentiation in the Bible when it comes to other kinds of angelic races as described in the Old Testament Books of Daniel, Job and Ezekiel + the New Testament books of Ephesians, Hebrews and Revelation. I like your videos, they do have a certain style appealing to an intellectual ground basis. Very well done and God bless you
Great theory, The real life pirate stuff always gets me interested. And giving Blackbeard his own Rayleigh type figure with Lafitte is a good idea cause Luffy and Blackbeard mirror each other.
This actually makes a lot of sense because it fits into the theme between the current 4 emperors: Luffy is the only one who actually moves according to his own desires and motivations. Buggy is following his heart and wants to go for the One Piece, but is basically being kept on a leash and used as a figurehead by Croc and Hawkeye and they use his fear and cowardice to try to controll him. Shanks fights to protect the weak, but he carries Rogers will until Joyboy returns and did not go for the One Piece until then. He is the captain of his crew but he seems to move and operate in the world only to maintain the power balance until the time is right for THAT great unavoidable conflict. So in a way Shanks still lives by Rogers will/orders., he already knows he's not the one to become pirate king because he entrusted that to Luffy. If this Lafite theory is correct and he is secretly the remnant of the Rocks Pirates who is hiding behind Blackbeards massive shadow in the same way Teech hid behind Whitebeard (and I think that would be brilliant writing). Blackbeard does have the desire to become Pirate King and find the One Piece, but if his whole crew and ship is like a living dedication/remnant to Rocks and Blackbeard himself is being used by an actual former Rocks member then he isn't really free in his actions and motivations in a way similar to Buggy and Shanks. Plus Blackbeard seems to have an obsession with 'Fate' that kind of flies in the face of free will and freedom. Luffy is fundamentally different from the other 3 emperors for obvious reasons that I don't need to list because there's too many. He is a madman who cannot be controlled by anyone except his own restraint to act right. And sometimes he himself can't even stop himself from doing something so reckless that it just defies all sense and reason, like punching a fucking celestial dragon in a slave house right next to Mariejois and Navy HQ. Luffy is like Honey Badger, it just doesn't give a shit and does what it wants. Because his desire is freedom, not money fame and power.
this is really good, this makes me think if he has ties to Imu, maybe he is even one of the Immortals whose Job is to guide Blackbeard into a specific direction. And this really shows insane similarities to Black Zetsu from Naruto.
The actual event when he goes to suggest Blackbeard as mercenary actually supports this theory. The recent events at Egghead as well. The person at Rocks crew could be his older brother as well. Why I say the events confirm it? Well, Sengoku wasn't at God Valley, so it's hard to recognize someone from that event. Garp for example is from East Blue, so it makes sense that Laffite would hide in West Blue. Him meeting Sengoku only, was probably calculated. Also now on Egghead, he, the mythical owl would again meet Stussy the vampire. To me at least, it makes a lot of sense.
Your theories are actually good they’re really convincing and not really based on much conjecture. In fact I have watched three and have been convinced of all of them this one most of all so far.
Hidden Island never disappoints. This theory is wild, beautiful, and genius. Early in this video when HI was hinting he'd talk a bout Lafitte, was a big HOLY SHIT moment with all the possibilities. Here's hoping we get another break week soon!
I like your videos. You always frame your theories as, well, theories. Other One Piece TH-camrs tend to frame their ideas as solutions to a mystery. Your ideas are always compelling and never feel like they resort to cherry picked information
Two very small theories I had with very few evidence but that can tie well to this video: 1. Caribou is working for Laffitte. When we first meet his crew, they have hats similar to laffitte, they both have french sounding names and ties to Louisiana (swamp fruit for caribou) 2. Laffitte and Crocodile are brothers. They both have the same hair but more than that when looking at the 2 Laffitte brothers irl, one was the salesman and the other the face of the crew. Laffitte is the showman, the magician, while Crocodile was running a casino. With that, I don’t think Laffitte was aged, I think both him and crocodile could have been rocks children, and both planned a way for avenging their dad. Lafitte surname in French refers to rocks/stones but also comes from the Latin ficta which means fake. Could tie to his fake identity somehow.
How exactly does Laffite's name refer to rocks in french. I'm a native french speaker and I have no idea what you're talking about. Unless if you were refering to Pierre Laffite, which in that case would make sense.
@@lesfessesonigumo3978 No worries! It's very far fetch but I do like the idea of two hidden brothers working on their side to avenge their father and accomplish his dreams. Laffitte gives me Kuro Zetsu vibes from Naruto, as he has always been a unique char for BB, the same way zetsu was for akatsuki.
Just the fact that you made this video… I have ALWAYS felt that this character had such an odd introduction. But it was just a little feeling. Everything is “odd” in OP, but this just always itched me… thank you
This would make a future Sanji fight a lot cooler. I've always felt like his opponent in the matchup was never very clear or satisfying, like him fighting Avalo or Burgess felt empty, but him fighting a major, big big deal former Rocks pirate with a bounty in the billions is hype. Also their roles are perfectly matched, as Sanji and Laffite are both the secret weapons, the 'spies' of their respective crew who go under the radar while the rest of the crew charges head on.
This could be sanjis mihawk fight.. oda always made up parallels and zoro and sanji when it comes to fighting has shown a parallel.. qe already have a mihawk for zoro so sanji needs his big fight too .. van auger is left for usopp and burgess for franky
In the West Blue Laffitte was born and raised, terrorizing villages was where he spent most of his days, raidin out lootin pillagin’ all cool, and shooting some random Navymen out by the pool
I'm only 6:58 through the video and the production quality (specifically the intro and the soundtrack!!) made me instantly subscribe as a new One Piece fan. Amazing video.
Also, this works for me but I would take it farther than lafite. After seeing his arms, I think he's the model screech owl, screech owls were Hades sacred bird. And Cerberus his guardian. So I think lafite has been grooming black beard so that he can open the gate to Hades, or needs him to resurrect someone.
Another great video! It is fascinating how nearly all the bigwig pirates (all the evil ones at least) had an evil mastermind to corrupt them. That will have implications, I think, for the gorosei or the overall corruption throughout the world
In the Marineford act it had been stated that he can hypnotise people. This reminds me of Jango and Kuro, the latter of the two also faked his death and hid his identity. As for the Harpies, the lured (one could say hypnotised) sailors with their songs, and one of the things we've seen Laffite do during his introduction is dance.
Laffite being able to sneak into Marijoa unnoticed by the likes of Sengoku, Mihawk, Doflamingo and Kuma is the biggest sign that something is up with him to be honest. the rest of the crew seemed strong for the time but Laffite entering Marijoa alone is insane
There was a demon sheriff in the Wes Craven classic film “The Serpent & The Rainbow”, funny enough the movie is set in Haiti where Jean-Pierre is a very common male name.
When you ask the question why doesn’t black beard sleep. Then you see them talking on the ship together as part of white beards crew. I think the only answer left is that lafitte is always whispering in his ear. Just slowly and subtly driving teach insane from sleep deprivation.
One theory I just thought of that kinda piggy backs yours is this: What if Lafitte was the second cabin boy of the rocks pirates? Roger had Shanks and Buggy, so what it Rocks had Lafite and the already confirmed Kaido? It fits the pattern. One cabin boy with extreme potential who is the more popular one and later becomes a yonko himself, and the other a clown type scheming figure who gets into a powerful position via other resources. Lafite piggy backed with BB to yonko and schemed from the shadows with him, Buggy piggybacked with Croc and Mihawk as his scheming charisma carried him around. Buggy was once on the king of the pirates crew and is technically the veteran of cross guild, and Lafitte was on the rocks crew and is the veteran of BB pirates. Buggy didn’t give up on stardom and decided to scheme himself to the top, while lafitte may have faked his death on god valley after Rocks’ own death and decided to nurture the next generation to be even more powerful.
I feel like most out there one piece TH-cam theories are usually such a stretch that they wouldn’t even be satisfying if they did turn out to be true, but I love this theory! It would be such a cool twist and explain a lot about Blackbeard’s knowledge and actions
Great theory. Lafitte can also use geppo and soru he said that he's a former police we know that only marines and world government agents are the only ones who are trained to use rokushiki. He was a damn veterans when it comes to sea he also shows up on the marine hq. He might also be a kurozumi. A great pretender.
Your right after learning about Haki that introduction is way more impressive! Oda wants us to go back and reread that in awe, after we tells us about the characters back storyline.
Finally someone showing some respect to my favorite pirate crew which is Blackbeard's crew. I was getting so sick of everybody riding the coattails of the straw hats or Shanks crew
One problem with this theory originally is it presupposes someone has been grooming Blackbeard actively. But Blackbeard is already a historian, so trying to uncover truth is something we know about him.
Another possible connection is that a lot of people expect is that lafitte is probably gonna be matched up against brook when the bb and strawhat crew fight. Both are lanky guys with canes and their pre time skip outfits kinda feel appropriate to match against. If this theory is true it would also be a man who has died once against a man who’s faked his death. Obviously based on a decent amount of speculation here but it’s a pretty cool thing to think about
Even though I still think it was Wang Zhi in that panel, this was a very convincing video and there's a lot to take from it even outside of the Rocks connection. Lafitte is sus
8:57 he didnt even go backwards, he went FORWARDS since paradise starts at reverse mountain and ENDS at marijoa so laffitte basically parted from the crew and then went most of the way through the grand line assumidly ON HIS OWN, made it up the red line without being seen, made it up to marijoa itself without being seen or even sensed, and even made it to the top of pangea castle, next to fucking hawk-eyes mihawk, without being noticed, all while wearing tap shoes and we dont even know if he had his devil fruit yet at that point, so for all we know he did this shit without any powers
Could Lafitte just be Morgans? Would explain why we never see Morgans outside of his zoan form, and explain why Lafitte’s arm’s turn to wings. Further could explain how Lafitte snuck into marejois, flying in as the head of the world news would be much easier. Both wear hats too.
That’s actually super interesting. The only other ideas I’ve seen for the shadow character is Choppers Dad or Dragon, but I think I like your theory the most so far
Great theory, but I can't believe it. Lafitte whispered to Teach to steal Aokiji's fruit which was a dumb move and this mater manipulator wouldn't do that.
I dont think lafiette is 60/70 years old unless devil fruit shananagins ofc. I think it could be very possible that lafiette’s older brother was the one on the Rocks pirates and died at god valley, but told his brother everything before he left
I still can remember my reaction when i saw Laffite entering the reunion room at Marie Joie, i was as shocked as the people in the room 😂 i already found it highly impressive when i started One Piece, but even now that i’am caught up to the manga i am even more amazed about Laffite performance, he was unnoticed and he looked so unbothered, pretty unusual for a character of his pretendable rank !
I was hoping for a video on Shanksbeard, but I must admit I really enjoyed it. You're right about the panel in Marijoie giving a powerful impression about Laffitte being an important character. The parallels with Laffitte real counterpart are interesting too. Thanks a lot for your amazing work 🙏

Also, if I had to guess a previous name for Lafitte, I would literally just go for Jean-Pierre, as that's a name in and of itself in French, and it references both the real life Lafittes by combining them together, much the same way the character of One Piece's Lafitte is a combination of the two.
Jean-Pierre would be a perfect name actually, great point
Omg… Captain… Jean
Dude Blackbeard it NOT a minor character. He'll be atleast either the final villain or 2nd to last villain.
Blackbeard's been important ever since he was introduced in Jaya. He's like the direct opposite to Luffy.
Blackbeard is probably the most important villain in the grand scheme of things.
Man the Rocks Pirates were so fucking stacked
Looking like the 2019 Warriors without injuries
No way Doc q can't be 28 💀💀💀

I feel like it's worth mentioning that Laffitte's wanted poster as seen in Stampede makes him look very similar to this shadowy figure on the Rocks crew

I agree with Lafitte being the hidden mastermind behind the BB pirates, yet I also think that Lafitte is actually Hattori, hypnotizing Lucci and thus able to access wg info
After the transformation denjiro went through just from being angry I'm willing to believe anyone can change their appearance
Since the introduction of Egghead Island I've wondered so much about Lafitte. He's the only one in the crew "without" a devil fruit reveal. I love that Oda uses real pirate references for his characters too. Like Kidd being the unluckiest pirate 💀
Latfitte is a literal demon sheriff, meaning he can manipulate devil fruit powers(wrangling them from one person to another and even make them behave when there's two "devils" in one person)
I believe this is his devil fruit power.
Okay you cooked with that one
It’s possible his birthday (March 13th) is a reference to Julius Ceasars “beware the ides of March”(13th-15th).
If that’s true, I think Laffite is Odas Cassius, the man who helps Caesar become the Emporer of Rome but immediately convinces Caesars closest allies that he’s accumulated too much power and ultimately masterminds his assassination. Which would also play into the siren (and possible strix) lore, leading men to what they want for their own personal gain.
He was ambitious
very interesting, remember when pizarro was in the burning island saying maybe he should be captain, and he is the first to insist , we the bb pirates, i will kill you lol,
Definitely sold on this idea.

Damn that’d make a lot of sense
No. Shanks was talking about Blackbeard. That he is a threat they shouldn't ignore. Which is true. I mean 1 of they members could become a whole damn island
I mean fisher tiger climbed the red line bare handed, and laffite can fly so yeah makes sense he could easily go to mariejois.

Bro has the One Peice hidden under his hometown
Then that Devil Fruit user died before Bonney got the Toshi Toshi no Mi.
the toshi toshi no mi doesnt work eternally on living beings, the effects get reverted after time
I'm not convinced he faked his death as a Rock Pirate one the dude in the picture has 4 arms like the zombie from Thrillers Bark with Silver Axe, John, and that armored fishmen, and 2 if he was at God Valley even as a 3 year old it makes a lot of sense that he was a rabbit for the slaughter.
Your intro makes everything feel 10x more quality. Its amazing
So Rocks Duo?
I actually think its kind of both. I believe he has a fruit that allows him to die and rebirth himself
I HAD THIS THOUGHT IN MY HEAD FOR A LONG TIME, I THINK HE IS VERY SUSPECT, THERES HIS ACTIONS AND HIS WORDS IN CERTAIN SCENES, IT REMINDS ME OF CHARACTERS MOMENTS LIKE BLACK ZETSU FROM NARUTO
I CAN’T WAIT TO DIVE IN THIS VIDEO AND SEE HOW MUCH WE THOUGHT ALIKE AND HOW MUCH I MAY HAVE MISSED!!
It’s Stronger isn’t it?😀
I mean he always was Stronger among the whole group🐴

The fact DocQ is in his TWENTIES blows my mind
15:25 if Lafitte's real name turned out to be "Loren D. Zo" that would be killer.
That's what I was thinking
With how much research Oda does into pirate history, I'm highly confident Oda is aware of this.
Holy shit that would be brilliant

They set him up to be the final big baddie and then just kinda randomly threw Kaguya in and said “oh no, she’s behind everything.”
Great video though!!!
Bro this is actually one of the best theories I heard about one piece thus far and the only one that holds up a lot of weight. Nice video my dude
Lafitte being a Trebol analog setting things up in the background could explain where the other three came from
"Hey Teach, I found an angry bodybuilder!" "Perfect, good dumb first mate material! Tell that Auger guy he only has to be the sniper now. I did. He didn't seem surprised. Said it was fate. That's my sniper alright. You hold the fort down Lafitte, I get the feeling that devil fruit will fall into my hands any day now. any day now. Aye aye Cap'n"
As for the meat of your theory, it's very neat! I never realized Lafitte was in the 40s range like BB, Not much else to say about it, hence the tangent I wrote. So weird to just have the Rocks Pirates crew as a two-page spread we can stare at and teorize over now.
Tf was that dialouge lol makes no sense
middle part reads like a tekking rant
@@MasquedMochaI read it and also instantly felt the classic tekken nerdy manic and breathless energy; imagining him waving his hands all over the place, getting way too into random passing details that don’t make too much sense but ultimately ended up appreciated his goofy spunk nonetheless!
I liked the editing where you had the waves in the background talking about real pirates
Yeah, I do think he was just the four-armed guy but I do agree it's weird that his face was shadowed. It's a good theory though.
Two very small theories I had with very few evidence but that can tie well to this video:
1. Caribou is working for Laffitte. When we first meet his crew, they have hats similar to laffitte, they both have french sounding names and ties to Louisiana (swamp fruit for caribou)
@@lesfessesonigumo3978 I’m French too, the roots of the name originate from gascon and Occitan “la hite” which refer to a rocky hill

I’m so glad someone made a video dedicated to laffitte. I think he’s the most intriguing unknown player in the story right now
Honestly the hair and earrings give off a Crocodile vibe too. Feels like there’s some sort of connection there
Too young
I'm glad someone finally made an in-depth video on this dude. He's been a major red flag for so long and no one even mentions him.
This theory was awesome to see unfold man 😊
Please keep the introduction around. It is sublime, so inviting. . comforting
There was a demon sheriff in the Wes Craven classic film “The Serpent & The Rainbow”, funny enough the movie is set in Haiti where Jean-Pierre is a very common male name.
You're 100% onto something and i can't wait to come back to this video in like 2 to 3 years lol
When you ask the question why doesn’t black beard sleep. Then you see them talking on the ship together as part of white beards crew. I think the only answer left is that lafitte is always whispering in his ear. Just slowly and subtly driving teach insane from sleep deprivation.
There’s soo much work behind this video
It’s really really good
Keep the work up
One theory I just thought of that kinda piggy backs yours is this:
What if Lafitte was the second cabin boy of the rocks pirates?
Laffite and Burguess would be the Second Wings
I feel like most out there one piece TH-cam theories are usually such a stretch that they wouldn’t even be satisfying if they did turn out to be true, but I love this theory! It would be such a cool twist and explain a lot about Blackbeard’s knowledge and actions
Great theory. Lafitte can also use geppo and soru he said that he's a former police we know that only marines and world government agents are the only ones who are trained to use rokushiki. He was a damn veterans when it comes to sea he also shows up on the marine hq. He might also be a kurozumi. A great pretender.
Laffite
it should be noted that the pattern of Lafitte's clothing is extremely similar to the french flag they had until the french revolution
One of your best theories yet, Laffitte has always felt like the odd man out on BB’s crew and this could explain a lot of that
One problem with this theory originally is it presupposes someone has been grooming Blackbeard actively. But Blackbeard is already a historian, so trying to uncover truth is something we know about him.
I would argue that even without the grooming, Laffite could just as easily be a resource for Blackbeard to learn history from
Another possible connection is that a lot of people expect is that lafitte is probably gonna be matched up against brook when the bb and strawhat crew fight.
Appreciate that bro, as long as it had you entertained and intrigued I'm happy. Cheers
Very interesting theory. It makes sense to me and all but man that your channel intro was NEAT!!!
8:57
he didnt even go backwards, he went FORWARDS
since paradise starts at reverse mountain and ENDS at marijoa
so laffitte basically parted from the crew and then went most of the way through the grand line assumidly ON HIS OWN, made it up the red line without being seen, made it up to marijoa itself without being seen or even sensed, and even made it to the top of pangea castle, next to fucking hawk-eyes mihawk, without being noticed, all while wearing tap shoes
and we dont even know if he had his devil fruit yet at that point, so for all we know he did this shit without any powers
Wow, it actually fits a lot of spots in the story. Great job, my friend!
Could Lafitte just be Morgans? Would explain why we never see Morgans outside of his zoan form, and explain why Lafitte’s arm’s turn to wings. Further could explain how Lafitte snuck into marejois, flying in as the head of the world news would be much easier. Both wear hats too.
I highly doubt it.
Maybe ur right...besides, if you wanna control the world, u should start by controlling the news just like our real world media
Morgans is one of the emperors of underworld.
Hmm... But he can't hang out with BB for so long if he was Morgan
@@Knightfire66we haven’t seen Lafitte with the bbp all timeskip besides the flashback with Blackbeard and aokiji
Holy moly. Im new to this channel...and the quality of the intro, the analysis
..frikin peeak
This channel’s intro has got to be the smoothest ever👌
That’s actually super interesting. The only other ideas I’ve seen for the shadow character is Choppers Dad or Dragon, but I think I like your theory the most so far
Tf Doc Q was 28 years old I thought he was in his 60s or 70s
Great theory, but I can't believe it. Lafitte whispered to Teach to steal Aokiji's fruit which was a dumb move and this mater manipulator wouldn't do that.
I dont think lafiette is 60/70 years old unless devil fruit shananagins ofc. I think it could be very possible that lafiette’s older brother was the one on the Rocks pirates and died at god valley, but told his brother everything before he left
Hed be like 3 years old when God valley happened tho
Would make sense if it's an ability of a mythical zoan.
I still can remember my reaction when i saw Laffite entering the reunion room at Marie Joie, i was as shocked as the people in the room 😂
i already found it highly impressive when i started One Piece, but even now that i’am caught up to the manga i am even more amazed about Laffite performance,
he was unnoticed and he looked so unbothered, pretty unusual for a character of his pretendable rank !
I’ll be real. The member of rocks crew that is hard to see seems to be wearing a pair of round glasses…
Lafitte=kobys dad :0
