Exactly, so annoying when I hear this mistake. Ussop wasn't even there until the very end. Thank god he got there when Luffy needed him the most. I'd hope we get to hear more about Sogeking in the upcoming chapters.

If all of this turns out to be true then it gives more meaning as to why Garp chose not to intervene in Ace's execution. Essentially, if he acted on saving Ace, he could risk ruining the plans of a coup even happening.
It could also mean that he had to chose between starting the coup right there at Marineford knowing it could save Ace, but knowing internally that the coup itself would fail, or he chooses to let Ace be executed because he knows that they can't risk the Marines/WG finding out about the coup.

I was thinking this when he mentioned a secret Navy group. Also gives a different look at Sengoku holding down Garp. Garp saying hold me down Sengoku, people always say wtf Garp could've got up if he wanted. He probably could have but as you said it'd ruin their whole plan to overthrow the government. Just wanted Sengoku to hold him steady enough that he couldn't go kill Akainu easily. And if Sengoku was in on it then that would explain slamming his friends face down and defending Akainu which always annoyed me

Way I figure it, if Garp could take on roger who could fight prime whitebeard and not get instantly turned into paste, then he'd probably be able to take on akainu who couldn't kill old whitebeard.
@@F3aredGenocide Akainu would've killed Whitebeard outright if he wasn't so focused on killing Luffy. There is even a manga panel explaining why he disappeared and reappeared on the other side of the battlefield. He did enough damage to kill Whitebeard eventually anyway.
Garp isn't strong enough to kill Sakazuki, it's just something an angry parent would say in response to a child being killed. Sakazuki one of the strongest in the verse, alongside Kaido, Shanks, and Mihawk

One thing Oda DID say was that if Akainu was the protagonist One Piece would be over in a year, this is facts and he has not said anything close to this amount of praise for any other character including any Yonko or previous OG marines. He literally said One Piece would be a speed run, which means he has to get the Road Poneglyphs from Wano, Totland, and supposedly Elbaf as well, defeating every Yonko in a year within setting sail. Deep that shit.

I do not believe that Dragon is a bad father. I don't think Dragon was like "I have a son, oh well... I'm going to just go do my own thing.". I think Dragon's past set him up for having a higher calling that far outranks the responsibility of being a father. Dragon is trying to be a protector of the entire world. His paternal instincts are inserted into his role of trying to create a better world for all. I think from Dragon's perspective, trying to rid the world of the oppressive world government is a part of his fatherly duties by trying to create a better world for all. Dragon is definitely not Ging.

Knowing how big of a fan Oda is of Star Wars, the Seraphim being based on the Grand Army of The Republic and having their own version of "Order 66" programmed into them that can be executed by this universes Palpatine aka Vegapunk sounds very possible. Also Kuma = Jango Fett.

There's a double layer to this. Oda clearly has a soft spot of revolutionaries. Lucas based the Rebels on Vietnamese anti-capitalist forces. So in a kind of second hand way this lines up with the Castro link to Dragon and the Guevara link with that cover story involving Karabo.
I recently revisited 278 which is Saul's freezing, the burning of the flag, and also Robin's iconic Ikitai. Aokiji says "Ice Time Capsule" and freezes him completely with "Ice Time". He KNEW he wasn't killing Saul. He was helping him survive the fire. That's what I've been piecing together for HOW Saul is back. That's the extra detail. I've been gleefully imagining 3 different generations of Monkey D's united
I think god valley changed his views, he worked with roger to fight rocks, he even took care of his son after, i think that was a turning point where he realized there are good pirates

Cool theory just a small issue, you said Aokiji stands for the "blue rooster" but his name literally translates to "Blue Pheasant" so he can't be the rooster. I believe the 3 admiral's names comes from an old japanese folktale about Momotaro, a boy who makes friends with a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant...
True but with the introduction of the new admirals it increases the chance of this theory being correct because of the tiger and bull.
Definitely convinced me that Garp is the head of Sword. The three heads of the monkey symbolism is too strong to not believe. The rest of the theory we'll have to see about.
If this was true, it would also add some extra context to Garp asking Sengoku to hold him down after Sakazuki killed Ace. It would basically mean that Garp was about to ruin the revolution and had to have Sengoku force him down to prevent it, rather than it just being out of sheer anger.
To be fair, the majority of pirates in OP are cutthroat murders that deserve to be killed with extreme force. The Straw Hats are a noted in universe exception to how things are.
My theory is that Nico Olivia and Monkey D. Dragon were an item and Nico Robin is Dragon’s daughter making her Luffys sister. So when Ohara was destroyed killing Nico Olivia that’s why Dragon started the RA.

Came to rewatch this after the chapter confirming Dragon was a marine and wow, everything in this masterpiece theory is still on track and becoming more plausible.
The past few chapters have completely recontextualised the Ohara incident. Ohara was the last thread joining the will of the ancient kingdom to the present day and, rather than being expunged by the World Government, was the catalyst for all three of the Monkeys to overthrow it. Seems like a parallel to Roger igniting the Great Pirate Era when the WG executed him. It was the worst possible scenario for the WG in both cases.
Just a throwaway statement stemming from something you said. Man, I hope Oda gives Garp a baller ass moment in the war. I've always felt pretty strongly that we'll see him do something in the final war and it would just be so badass if we see that he's still a force to be reckoned with. Like, legit force. I think we all think he's strong but iffy on just how strong he is and that's what I'm saying. I want him to perform beyond our expectations. Not Luffy levels of amazement, but still up there.
Yeah me too, I hope we get to see something crazy like Garp in his prime through Bonnie's fruit or anything along those lines
I think you bring up a good point about how most of the conflicts the SHs end up in aren't completely centered around the crew. They often play a big role in the fights of their non-crew friends.
I think that's why arcs like Enies Lobby and Water 7 stick out to so many fans. Aside from being extremely well written, they focus almost exclusively on the crew and their own struggles more than any other arcs in the story, culminating in the battle to take back one of their own. As such, it's where we see an immense amount of growth from our heros, which is another reason why those arcs are so beloved.

yeah, that's why its kinda stick out that the only time monkey family actually declare a war is always related to ohara for some reason.
none of the arc is centered around strawhat except enies lobby. even dressrosa was law and tontanta tribe along with toy warrior that planed all out battle, the wholecake is bege and his gang who planed the excecution either. fishman it was jinbei before he joined the strawhat.
About Luffy joining a war, started by Dragon. I think it would be more interesting if Luffy starts the war with the World Government, or at least the Marines, on his own. Think of how cool it would be if he rolls up to the new Marine Headquarters with the Grand Fleet, ready for battle in a scene that mirrors Whitebeard’s invasion of Marineford. It would be a great callback, while also showing how far Luffy has come.
Great to create an epic moment but this would make dragon and revelutionaries irrelevant to the story
@@bimraven Think of it as two separate battles. Luffy invades New Marineford, while the Revolutionaries invade Mary Geoise.
One piece is one of those series u just enjoy hearing theories about. If most of these connections are true oda has to get some sort noble prize for this story cuz all the foreshadowing and plot points coming together is insane. Hidden island keep dropping these gems bro 💎💯

I believe that the reason Kuzan owes Garp is because Garp inspired him with a new found faith in the marines. After witnessing Sakazuki’s destruction and killing innocent lives, Kuzan was left questioning the organization as a whole.
I think Garp could have introduced him to his end game plan which was taking down the Celestial Dragons. He may have taken him under his wing Or simply inspired him with his free and disobedience to the top dogs in the WG. In this way Garp may have saved Kuzan during his lowest point

I like the idea of Aokiji being taken under Garp’s wing directly because we see that kinda relationship form in Chapter Zero, where its clear Aokiji kinda looks up to Garp. Would make a lot of sense, and if Garp is the one heading all this, then that “Hero of the Marines” title takes on a deeper meaning.

I think the Will of D means "The will of Dragons" and this is going off one little detail Oda revealed recently in chapter 1084 and 1086 (1 small panel). Also, keep in mind we recently learned the saint elders names and their connection to Greek mythology, this goes for the names of the 3 ancient weapons and of course. Nami has Zeus.
Ch. 1084. A new character was introduced to us named Nefertari D. Lily. She was the leader of the Alabasta kingdom and 1 of the 20 kingdoms that over threw the ancient kingdom and help form the world government. However, she backed out at the last moment by declining on becoming a celestial dragon and left but she never returned to Alabasta. Its known she was the first person to use the D. In her full name (this detail is important) and shes one of the main causes to the existence of the ponyglyphs.
Ch. 1086. Wapol helps Vivi escape Mariejois after wapol learned of Neferteri D. Lily and witnessing cobra being killed. They got on a ship owned by the Aegis Kingdom. (Important detail) and fled.
Now the only way to make this distinctive connection.tp the greek mythology is that the D in "The will of D" would have to mean Dragon or else this this is merely the craziest coincidence. 😮
Aegis greek mythology: It was a goatskinned shield carried by Athena and Zues. The etymology is believed to be Zues who holds the "sky/heaven".
Nefertari Dragon Lily. Is it a coincidence that a dragonlily is originally found in Greece, Crete, the Aegean Islands.
Aegean comes from the greek god Aegaeon, the god of storms or "The stormy one" which translates to Aigis "shield made of goat skin (shield of Zeus)" aegis and aigis are both accepted spellings.
No one would assume it means dragon. Why do you think Dragon is a revolutionary and the world governments #1 criminal?
I also believe Garp is the true leader of the revolutionary army and I think the monkey family have the ancient dragon clans bloodline and rightful family to sit on the throne.
The name dragon is taboo and people with the D in their full name are enemies of the CD. I think the celestials took the clan name dragons to use as thier own to call themselves Celestial Dragons in a mockery way.

I think Vegapunk is unknowingly recreating the world-shattering incident of the past that lead to the usurping of the ancient kingdom.
I imagine the founding members of the world government, through some means or another, for whatever reason, took down the kingdom from the inside out. And now, 800 years later, Vegapunk is doing the exact same thing, except this time the results will put things back on a proper, peaceful path of progress rather than a destructive path of reduction and loss.

Garp staying behind and "letting" himself get captured by the blackbeard pirates could be a way to reunite with kuzan, assuming this theory is correct (I think garp definitely could've blocked shiryu's attack without having to take it full on)

I think it’s fully possible that caribou’s alliegances are with the Revs instead of BB like most people think. FMI Caribou? Nah. But after his cover story? Might be a changed man. Zoro was oddly nice to him last chapter, no usually how Oda treats his villains.

for the zodiacs section at the end, dragon was previously a marine and then left. I think he could very well be the missing dragon marine gone rogue versus akainu's "loyal dog" approach
Also when Garp was talking to Luffy about his father. Garp asked if his father showed up hinting at if Garp and Dragon talked behind the scenes.
I mean, dude could have just heard from someone else. Smoker is a marine. Dragon showing up would have been reported.
If Law is part of Sword like Randy thinks he is, his reaction to Kidd talking about the man marked by flames might make more sense now.

You intentionally left out that law is sword ;)… also Ssngoku name means civil war and is a famous era in Japan when internal conflicts brought about great changes. I have heard that a popular Japanese theory lays out great evidence and symbolism behind sengoku character to be someone who changes sides. Also if you read the conversations at marineford with sengoku and garp if you assume sengoku is apart of sword it really reads like sengoku I trying to convince garp not to blow his cover and ruin the 20 years of setup for change.
