Wow who would have thought from all that scrap you got what now look like little designer bars of soap. Flipping genius. No wonder you sell out when you're producing products like this. I love all your soaps. 🥰🇬🇧⛄
When I make hot process, or rebatch, I use a wavy cutter to cut the tops off after it hardens. 😊 I hope you do another hot process soon! I’ve learned so much from you.
Ellen, Hoping you and your family were not affected by the awful tornadoes that went through your area. Sending prayers for the people affected and your family as well. Take care. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time
@@EllenRuthSoap An idea for the tops: I take a multi colored/layered soap and make a thicker shaving by running my peeler down the length of the bar to get all the colors in one shaving and press them into the tops of the soaps, so it covers the “rustic” looking top with pretty confetti pieces😊
I love the lather on these! I've got a little over a pound of scraps and shavings myself, going to melt it down and put it in a test batch mold lol! Thanks Ellen! 😊
This is so helpful. I added too much water to my first batch but now I know that it isn’t supposed to fully return to liquid I won’t make that mistake again.
I have noticed that you don’t waste anything. That is just like me. It’s the decade we were born in. Waste not, want not. Infact Waste Not, I Want It! I even collect the tiny bits of soap that adhere to the silicone paper and the silicone mold. Then I add a bit of water and pulse it in the microwave. After time and cooking well, I clean it up and let it dry in the cup. This puck becomes my handsoap near the kitchen sink. I get to tryout my own soaps, long before the bars are ready. Waste Not At All! 😁 Hey that a sweet idea with marbles!
I love rebatch soap! I always add rose or lavender to my rebatch soap, either one pops up the fragrance and seems to go with whatever scent is in my rebatch. Like you I always add a few extras, the sodium lactate, because it's a humectant makes for a wonderful moisturizing bar. I always add a bit of mica as well as my rebatch is always kind of a bland off white color, ivory, is what I'd call it. It was fun watching you rebatch your soap, and watch the thought process you went through to make your soap. A really entertaining video to pass the time! Jill Gross
I DO love the term " upcycling" and this turned out as a lovely example of what can be produced from some bits and Bobs.. rather like a lovely braided rag rug or patchwork quilt. Somethinģ where the individual bits may not be much, but put them together and they're surprisingly pretty as well as useful! Definitely worth the extra effort of saving and then reusing. Just a nod to those who gripe àbout the extra container every now and again.yes! I'm talking about YOU dearest! It's NOT actually harming you up on that shelf and the only thing that would fit in that space would be *another tacklebox* which you *Definitely don't need!*
I'm trying. I think mine is a little dry. It was like oatmeal, and I spooned it into the mold and mashed. I'm wondering if it's going to dry one solid piece or crumble. We'll see. Thank you for teaching us how to do this. I love going along with you even through your mistakes. There's always a learning curve the first couple tries. Well, this is my first, so guess the next one will be better. Thanks again, Ellen.
I love all your soaps! Thank you for doing the videos. They are some of my favorites to watch! Do you mind sharing where you buy your piping bags? The ones I have are so thin and flimsy, they have burst several times when I'm piping. Yours look thick and sturdy!
Call me crazy, but rebatch soap strongly reminds me of melt and pour soap. Maybe because the soap being melted down is a bunch of shavings from already cured soap. I keep thinking about this every time I watch someone work with rebatch soap. Anyway, great job as always and I bet this was a breather from the craziness with the Calamine soap from the last video!
Great video. Ellen, did you keep your crock pot on high the whole time? I have learned so much from you, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.🌹🌹🌹
Thank you so much for the quick response! I’ve got all my shavings in the crockpot, and ready to do it! I also cooked a batch of soap this morning, and it didn’t turn out in the molds… I think I might have over cooked it…? After I do the shavings, perhaps next weekend, I will work on the batch I failed on this morning.🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Hello. I am new to soaping and was wondering if I could add some cold process soap to the rebatch? I messed up a batch yesterday. The soap is too crumbly and I have craters so I grated it. Can I combine rebatch with cold process liquid? Thanks so much.
I have a few buckets with soap cuttings: one for white and ivory cuttings, one for red, orange, pink and yellows, and one for cool colored ones. Then, when I rebatch them, the color always is what I expected. And I like your confetti soap, though.
Very informative and nicely explained. My only concern is the glitter. What kind is it and does it dissolve when wet? If not, does it remain on the hands, or can it get in the eyes (if used in the shower).
You are so inspiring and I want to start making beautiful soaps but I don't like the drag or waxy feeling the soap leaves after rinsing. How can that be avoided? Is there a certain product that causes it or something that can be added to make it slip?
I would really research the ingredients and find the qualities your looking for when formulating... And I think milk and clays make for a great skin feel.
Can I make soap dough with my shavings if I keep them in airtight bags? Or maybe vacuum seal them? Also, am I correct in thinking sodium lactate is essentially salt? I only ask because I added both to the rebatch (my first ever soap and first ever rebatch) so I'm wondering if I messed up. LOL! Edit: I'm an artist so colors are amazing to me. And I LOVE the gray color! Especially with the pops of color in the "confetti" bits! So new to soap making but my mind is going nuts with all kinds of ideas!
Your fresh shavings will be a bit harder than a true soap dough, but they are plyable and can be molded. I'm not sure how long they'll stay that way? Sodium lactate and salt act the same in CP soap, but the sodium lactate helps keep rebatch or HP fluid while it's hot.
Hi!! Was researching about Marseille soaps and came across this. Would it be considered as Marseille once it’s hot process/cooked? i think it’s nice from a marketing stand point. Love your soaps!
Lol, I do rebatch but I dont e a doble boiler. So I use an old toaster, the ones that go over the stove, and the over that I put my rebatch Pot. It works good. But you have to watch it
I realy dont know how your's is so lichid so you can pipe it, i just made a rebatch and it was so hard that i end up pushing by hand in the mold. I even put another half the amount of water so i coud mix by handmixer. 🤣🤣 I think I'm doing something wrong 😁

The soap turned out amazing ..
Love rebatch soap!

They looked beautiful
Thank you for this video. I learned so much and I scrolled through the comments. They were informative as well.
🥰 Watching this as I trim my soaps😉

Hi, thank you so much for sharing your tips.
Love the stamp! Such a cute bar of soap❣️

Oh, Goodness,I'm so glad you are sharing this because I made a boo boo and now I am following your Fantastic tutorial TODAY💗

Oh thank you!
This looks so beautiful!
Thanks 😊
Ellen, I just love your rewatching videos! I have never thought of adding TD and this really made a pretty colour :-)
Thanks 🥰 they come out different each time I make these💕
I love these Ellen ❤️
Thanks!
Ok ok I should start doing this
Thanks heaps it was fun watching
🥰
Love your videos

I actually like the smell of any rebatch soap I make because it smells like my curing room 😁
Yes! I find the combo scent really nice!
I've rebatched once using Irish spring and olay and it turned a grayish white thanks to this video I might try it again
Love your orange shirt!
Thanks 🥰
I love these!!!
🥰 so does my family
Enjoyed your video !!! Color reminded me of wet newspaper for crafting. 🤣🤣

Lovely! I never thought of using TD, looks amazing. I had a rebatch fail last week. I’m going to shred and rebatch again
Thank you!! I have my ' Grandma's Sunday Kitchen' Soap in the freezer right now. I added Lemongrass EO because my gran always smelled like lemongrass🥰

Yes, rebatch is great! Can't waist a bit of all that soapy goodness! Thanks for watching.
Some of my soaps broke, now I know what to do with them. Thank you!
You can remelt them or use a lather bag and put the pieces in, they work great for small bits . amzn.to/3VGzy1Y

Thank you💕. I get them from Amazon, and look for the "heavy gauge" bags, because I've had that same problem in the past...
What kind of preservative do you use Ellen? Also, we really need a soap wrapping video, so we can see how you do that ;) Thanks Lynn.
These don't need a preservative. Here's a link for a wrapping video: th-cam.com/video/aWo7gJn1Kfs/w-d-xo.html
Sorry....I should of explained...the preservative in the TD bottle...lol...thank you Lynn

Yes, for rebatch I keep my crockpot on high.
I have hot process soap scraps, can I use those? Also, what temp is your crockpot on? Look forward to your reply and thank you very much.🥰
Yes, you can use the HP scraps too, I start my crock pot on high, then turn it to low when things start melting.

I messed up a batch yesterday. The soap is too crumbly and I have craters so I grated it.
Can I combine rebatch with cold process liquid? Thanks so much.
You can rebatch failed soaps (but make sure the pH is okay and it's not due to heavy lye)
I have a few buckets with soap cuttings: one for white and ivory cuttings, one for red, orange, pink and yellows, and one for cool colored ones. Then, when I rebatch them, the color always is what I expected.

Where did you get your soap cutter from please? Great video!👍
The shop I got it from doesn't sell any more, but here is one that is very similar: amzn.to/3lx6QAs
love them, do you notice all micas are messy when using them?
If I'm careful, micas aren't too messy...
Very informative and nicely explained. My only concern is the glitter. What kind is it and does it dissolve when wet? If not, does it remain on the hands, or can it get in the eyes (if used in the shower).
I use bio glitter, and it pretty much rinses off after the first use.
My question with rebatch soap is if all the soaps had different scents how do you change the scent so it don't smell crazy
I can't really explain why, but it just ends up smelling soapy and clean..
what kind of coconut powder is it the one we use in cooking ?
Yes, it's food grade. Here's the one I like: amzn.to/49toPeF

Yes 👍
@@EllenRuthSoap Thanks! I have already started the shredding process and will complete the rebatch this weekend, when I have more time.

I think any good vegetable oil based soap could be considered “marseille”
Hi Ellen, I'm getting ready to make a batch of goat milk soap, full milk, how can I add my sugar to that?
I would make a small portion of sugar water to add, like a simple syrup...
Lol, I do rebatch but I dont e a doble boiler. So I use an old toaster, the ones that go over the stove, and the over that I put my rebatch Pot. It works good. But you have to watch it

Hi, how do you calculate your rebatch recipe?
Is it ready to use after you cut from the mold?
I weigh out the shreds to see how much I have and go from there

🤣 Yes, that's the down fall of rebatch, it's not a pretty color...😅
No it’s not , it’s pretty. Rustic, like avant guard concrete art. Love it! ☀️💫
