Thanks for watching everyone! 🤗 This is the well behaved neem oil soap recipe, if you are interested to make it th-cam.com/video/yN618RLuKUA/w-d-xo.html (had no issues with the New Directions neem oil). Also make sure you check the video description for all the other relevant info including water amounts to use for rebatching 😊 See you again soon! Elly x

Hello I have questions that maybe offsubject of this particular video. I have allergies to coconut and tree nuts, it is hard to find soaps (liquid or solid) without them. So I reaching on how to make my own 100% olive soaps for my personal use. My question is: Where is the olive oils coming from? What type of olive oil is being used? Are people using cooking oil from the grocery store or does it have to be special ordered? Do you a post about where to get your oils? Thank you much for your kind and gentle instructions!

I too was wondering if I needed a slow cooker for a rebatch...
Could I fix a soap by this method if it's too soft... I used to much of soft oils in one of my soap recipe and it's soo soft...

    • @miamiranti9885
      @miamiranti9885 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@janicedias_sowgrowanddiy As far as I know, if after 7-14 days soap is still soft, it is unlikely to harden. I was taught to formulate using 40% hard oil or butter + 60% soft oil and also add sea salt + sugar into water before adding lye.

This just happened to me a few hours ago. I was so bummed. I was recording as well lol... I was able to get it into the mold but not able to do a swirl. I placed it in the fridge because it got really hot. Took it out of the mold and it's not too bad. It was the fragrance oil I used. Lesson learned for a beginner. Thanks for the video.

Oh really!? That's a nice confirmation for me, thank you. I used the Neem Oil I bought from a local market for this recipe, but clearly it was quite different than the other neem oil I used (the one from New Directions was lovely and no issues at all). I guess they mix it with another oil which caused the acceleration?

Ok is it just me or does Elly's soap look like a scrumptious piece of bread. 😅 You are such a great teacher. I have seen others rebatch soap, but the soap comes out looking somewhat crumbly. I recently took the leap of faith and participated as a vendor in a craft show. I sold soaps and other products. My # 1 item that sold was a body cream in a particular fragrance. Many asked me if I had the fragrance in a soap. The reason why I do not is because it accelerates like crazy. I will now attempt to make the soap and if my plan goes south I now know I can save the soap. Thank you so much. I have learned so much from watching your channel.

I sent you a message on your website re: using your 100% Olivier oil liquid soap. I’m doing exactly what you doing here: heating the paste and adding water. When I plugged in my stick blender, I pulled the plug on my crockpot instead of my toaster. Old houses and their limited numbers of outlets. Mine is a circa-1947: post WWII building materials shortage so some unique methods and materials. The demand for housing from returning soldiers found all sorts of creative ways to build homes. I’ve seen a video where an old trolley car formed the core of the home, Here, in Amer Fork, Utah, the building department folks told me about a couple of home built of ammunition boxes filled with newspaper for insulation. My house I’d old mining timbers taken from a nearby silver mine in a local canyon. Said canyon (American Fork) also being the source of the spring used for the local water supply.

I had this problem too with my third batch of soap, a purely cleansing recipe.
I grate some and scrub the bathroom with it.I wanted to rebatch it,but there was so much heat within the seized soap that I was afraid that putting it on the stove would cause an explosion .I therefore cut what I could get into a loaf mould into a few bars and after 2 weeks of curing use it as laundry soap

Aloha! It's been a bit over a year since I did my last (beginner) soap batch...'cause "life happens", but today I decided to try your Honey Castile Shaker Soap. It's funny that I find this video just after I've finished. I almost had a soap-on-a-stick type situation because I used Plumeria Fragrance in my batch, which caused a very quick trace in the shakers (I had to use 2 smaller shakers for lack of a larger one). I was wondering if I was going to have to pull out my s/s soap saucepan to save it somehow. Luckily, I was able to get it all scooped out and smoothed (ahem) into my molds before it became unruly. Thankfully, it seems to have worked out and I look forward to checking on it after a bit. I hope Grandma (98) likes it when it's ready. 😃Happy to be back on your channel learning again!! 🤙

Took ages to dry/ harden...but holy moly the soap has turned out hard and lathers amazingly..smells great.

I am not a fan of shampoo bars as well. Thank you

Hi, For how long to leave it before using it? Thanks

It depends on how much water you add, but 4-6 weeks should do it.

IM looking for a thick moisturizing shower liquid soap. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @EllysEverydaySoapMaking

Soap is soap, it's never going to be really moisturising. But this would be my pick for you (it's the most gentle and thick LS I know of) th-cam.com/video/Q-Ul8NNQZqg/w-d-xo.html

    Thank you Elly! 👌
Could you do that with already -long- set soap too? Cut it up, melt and re-pour?
My last batch from some months ago acted weird, it turned somewhat gelly from inside out and now it seems to sweat some fat…? 🤪
I use it without any problem, but it’s less attractive to sell. Or should I just wipe off the fat? Besides that sweating, it’s firm.

You sure can! I made another video about general rebatching here th-cam.com/video/STQ-C4L363o/w-d-xo.html but it's basically the same process. Not sure what happened with your soap. Have you tested the pH? Sounds like something amiss with the recipe there.

@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Thank you so much, I’ll watch that! Much appreciated! 👌
I don’t really think I’ll do that with this particular batch, since it’s not BAD-bad, but definitely good to know!
I’ve just received pH strips and a pH device, for my fermentations… 😂 A new hobby I started. But I have no clue what to look for in soap pH… I’ve been making soap for some years now, but obviously I’m still clueless… 😅
I use a soap calculator app on my iPad and use whatever oils I have at hand with the most part often being herbal infused olive oil, before they go rancid. 🤷‍♀️

I am a fermenter too, so I get that! Great you're into that also. pH is really important for soap making. These two vids will help:
