Most people in your situation who don't deal with BS have gone through BS in the past to get to that point, though, so I'm sure these people will in time too.
This one hits particularly close to home. People often show off the side of themselves they want others to see...but are completely different behind closed doors. It's really kind of sad, especially since I believe their is the potential to be kind, empathetic, rational and good in every single one of us. But seem people just....idk if they get led astray or do not have anyone to push back on their maladaptive behaviors and thoughts or what...but also mad props to the friends that have the courage to stand up to their friends and tell them when they are being bad and try and get them back on the right track!
i feel for this person i've had my fair share of crappy people in 14 i even left my homeworld because of how much i had to deal with. But i made some stellar friends too people who really show me just how could 14s community can be
Yeah, I've come to see that, just like Endwalker's message, life is full of pain and suffering, but it's worth it for the good moments and the real friends you make. Sometimes the struggle makes those times all the more sweeter.
Reminded me a bit of a guy I invited to my static. He complained about getting booted from statics. Turns out he was a constant harasser of players better than him and he became toxic friends with a white mage who bought clears and then pretended she was the one who got the clear on her own. Watched her in e12s not know lions then complain it was everyone else slowing down the group. Got those two out before they melted the group down to slag. If the leader had been decent they could have prevented or stopped it quickly.

I dont want to play with people who have a meltdown over me while playing it nice and cozy when "looking" into my face. Honestly... even though the topic of this video was a serious one, I didnt really care. I think it was due to the vagueness of the story, but there was nothing that made me even raise an eyebrow. There are people out there that can make your life a living hell, we all should know that: the internet wasnt born yesterday and we're not internet users since yesterday. Like in the outside world, people can manipulate and destroy you. As a matter of fact, this is even easier in an online. In summary to anyone reading this: dont be outright mistrustful to random strangers on the internet, but dont EVER give them your real name or address or (Heaven and Common Sense forbit) your pictures! Never ever.
I too wish it wasn’t too vague. I always feel off about stories that are vague myself since it doesnt give us much description and details. But yea if I get too picky it’s also rude to turn away peoples stories and I tried to make them share more but they didn’t want to and that’s totally up to them.

I understand sharing your story can be hard, but to truly be heard there need to be more details. vague details tend to start witch hunts, and slowly enters name/shame territory.

Where there are nice people there will always be manipulative people lurking around trying to prey on them. Beware ANYONE that loses a lot of friends, only blames others, and always has a sad story to tell you. They're probably trying to use guilt to make you stay.

FFXIV has one of the best game communities out there -- but like the real world, bad people are just roaming everywhere and considering that XIV has such a (mostly) positive environment, it's not immune to them -- we tend not discern them because of trust and notice the red flags in time, before awful things take place.

This makes me think of my old fc and fc leader. She’s a narcissist with a bunch of simps (guys and girls) that feed her ego. She self proclaims to have borderline personality disorder and to be a horrible person. I took psych for a bit in college and her behavior didn’t line up so I asked some old friends and did research. Concluded she had NPD Narcissistic personality disorder. She checked all boxes in the extreme. We were kinda in a not really relationship. She’d freak out and call me all sorts of stuff if I went to a venue or hung out with people she wasn’t friends with. I say we were friends and she’d throw a fit going “Oh so we’re just friends!” Followed up by hours of abuse and her talking smack and lying to me about myself. Accusing me of things I never did. My favorite was. “We’re not dating.” Followed by “You’re cheating on me!” Followed by “I hate you, you liar.” Followed by “I love you. Where are you?” When I’d ignore her. She would talk mess about everyone in the fc and I have proof. Screenshots of almost 2 years of DMs between us. She would constantly go to venues and erp or erotic gpose and then accuse me of being a man 304 for talking to this other girl in the fc. Right at the end. Last two months I was there. I was being called cpt save a 304 for literally just being myself same old same old. Was really supportive of fc members in game and the discord for their irl stuff. She was getting jealous of the attention I was giving a mutual friend. Lots of stuff happened might write a full story for Pathra if this gets enough attention but long story short I ended up getting kicked for “making people uncomfortable, being fake, being a liar.” All I ever did was tell the truth and calling her out and tell her I was done with the way I was being treated. I woke up one day and was kicked from the fc and discord. All the reasons she gave me when I asked were obviously lies or people had issues with me. Never once did anyone tell me about issues they had with me and their own fc and disc rules included telling people when you have a problem and talk it out before you bring it up to leadership. Moral of the story. Being honest and a good person gets you used as a scapegoat when everyone else around you is in a bad mental/emotional/physical state and all toxically co-depending on each other and shit talking each other behind each others backs. Meanwhile being honest and never talking smack makes you the perfect “fake person” to blame everything on. To anyone who may ask why I stayed and had DMs with her for two years. …I promised her I wouldn’t leave unless kicked back before she started openly doing all her crazy stuff. She honestly seemed like a good person at first for the whole first year I was in another fc with her before we split into two different groups. I’m a man of my word and I stuck around until I was kicked. Thank god, it was so toxic.

Tries to get you to make promises and then tries to make you break them. Starts drama for the sake of having something to talk about and then cries and tries to get pity. She self proclaims to thrive in chaos and be a lone wolf, but cries when people call her out and has to have people giving her attention. She projects like crazy and accuses people of “stealing her identity” or copying her avatar and does the exact same thing. She has to be in control and if she can’t bully, intimidate, manipulate or convince you then prepare to be lied about. She frequently told people not to take screenshots of DMs or talk about private things between her and them with other people but would demand screenshots and make people stream to her with their DMs with other people open. She gaslights and tries to get people to confront her and blow up so she can make them out to be the bad-guy in the situation. I’m sure she tried to get me to do the same thing, but I’m not quick to anger, and I don’t fall for provocation. I told her before I got kicked that I wouldn’t join another FC for a while and if I did it would be to start one with a friend or to stop all the scouters from spam inviting me and dming me. Almost 3 months after getting kicked I joined an fc to avoid the scouters and literally a few hours later she was DMing me on an alt of hers talking in caps and calling me all kinds of stuff like liar and some stuff you can be reported and banned for and telling me to F off. Then she went busy. I went to her fc house and talked in /say chat telling her to take me off her friends lists on all her characters and to not stalk me or send me messages like that. She called me a liar and was threatening to report me for harassment and saying I was kicked for the exact behavior I was displaying. Then she said she was going to log out and play a different game. I blocked her alt and then she logged in on her main right in front of me and said “OMG i can’t believe that guy, starting stuff and harassing me.” In /say I called her out for lying right there and told her goodbye. Started grinding fates with my gf and not even 10min later she was DMing me on her main. Telling me sorry and that she didn’t tell anyone new in her fc about me or the things I did and that she didn’t lie at all about anything and she wasn’t dating anyone else and wouldn’t because she wasn’t interested in a relationship. My response was “I didn’t do anything wrong ever and I never lied unlike you. Stop bothering me I’m playing with my gf. You know what? I’ll make it easy for you and block you.” Blocked her and didn’t hear from her again. Until the next day she was stalking me in game and talking in say chat about how much fun she was having with her bf. She was hanging out in Radzathan by the crystal for over 7hrs while I was crafting and pentamelding my crafting gear. She never hung out in game areas like that the entire 2 1/2 years I knew her. It was clear hoovering. They only left when the two guys with her asked why they were there and not at the fc where they always hang out at. I walked by to talk to an npc and she said “You could at least act like you give a sh!t” and TOd out.

Edit: won’t share names or server because I don’t want to deal with her or her groupies if one happens to see this. More than one of her simps stalks and reports things to her. One of the reasons she accused me of “cheating” Was because I told a good friend “I love you” because they were being a good friend. Crazy I know. And one of her simps saw and told her I was erping with lots of other people. (Btw, I’m straight and almost 100% sure the friend I said that to is a guy)

sounds similar to a story i was put through. I used to be on diabolos in a fairly large and active fc. This Fc was affiliated with a rp bath house. i had just got into RP to help with talking/thinking in-character in DnD another fc mate invited me to. i was a lalafell but switch to an Au ra look i had during HW. after a bit made an alt to help the venue out (but was never hired on) one of the fc mates not fully knowing it's me went to my alt to talk about what my au ra likes, and mentioning wanting a fling. i gave some details... next i knew they mad made an alt that checked all my characters boxes, and was very flirty/affectionate with my character. I went ahead to book a private bathing room with attendant just to see what it was like. only for it to be that player, and got roped into an unplanned erp session... i didn't say much as i didn't want fc drama, though in hindsight i should have. i go to the bath house again and more fc mates chill there, and then drag me about with said attendant as they hired him and brought me along assuming him and I was dating.... we was not... after the chaos.. i did a private room again to decompress... and did an unplanned hire... while the above was going on.. on the side he was dming me on discord asking for lewds.. pretty much insistent, and wouldn't take no for a reply... i never gave them though... fki that. things came to ahead when i did something cool in rp and wanted to share it. I talked to the dude about it, saying if he gets a free moment if we could talk 1 on 1.. he ended up freaking out and claiming i was clingy, and this/that... it was a mess. And then he started to dm me calling me clingy, said im not following through a talk we had from the start. I tried asking what was making me clingy, and what his boundaries were (he never told me) and stated it was on me to figure it out. i stop going to the venue and through my alt had come to find out the guy in question bragged to everyone about popping my erp cherry. *vomits* i ended up leaving that fc because it was just to much internal drama with various cliques in it... and the two leaders were too hands off on reeling people in.
i honestly really understand where the OP is comin' from. I've had an experience similar to this, tho not quite as serious as this is, but still somethin' where ppl i thought were one way showed some colors o themselves i could not agreee with, & in me standin' by my principles, we separated. Maybe one of these days i'll send you that for a story, but i'd like for OP to know it happens, but he'll get thru it. People ik we hear the stories of people finding love in MMO’s but always be skeptical of others its still the internet. Never send pictures of yourself to anyone idc if you know them irl people can always act 1 way then another the next. Its the real world people are always going to be after you IRL or cyber. these type of people disguste me i had a similar experience with someone that didnt like me (and didnt even bother to come talk to me if they had an issue) pretended to be my friend for a long time then weaseled their way into my fc and told them lies about me wich eventually ended up with me logging into the game and being kicked out without a reason being given
look, I'm still on 6:19 on the video, but this seems like it could all be avoided by creating another group and leaving this Gus character on their own...
We did, for the second tier of the expansion. Eventually we ended that chapter and went our separate ways. All of the pain, drama, and slander could not be avoided however. Only limited. The storm looks a lot different when you're inside of it.

Was because I told a good friend “I love you” because they were being a good friend. Crazy I know. And one of her simps saw and told her I was erping with lots of other people.

sounds similar to a story i was put through. I used to be on diabolos in a fairly large and active fc. This Fc was affiliated with a rp bath house.
i had just got into RP to help with talking/thinking in-character in DnD another fc mate invited me to. i was a lalafell but switch to an Au ra look i had during HW. after a bit made an alt to help the venue out (but was never hired on) one of the fc mates not fully knowing it's me went to my alt to talk about what my au ra likes, and mentioning wanting a fling. i gave some details...
next i knew they mad made an alt that checked all my characters boxes, and was very flirty/affectionate with my character. I went ahead to book a private bathing room with attendant just to see what it was like. only for it to be that player, and got roped into an unplanned erp session... i didn't say much as i didn't want fc drama, though in hindsight i should have.
i go to the bath house again and more fc mates chill there, and then drag me about with said attendant as they hired him and brought me along assuming him and I was dating.... we was not... after the chaos.. i did a private room again to decompress... and did an unplanned hire...
while the above was going on.. on the side he was dming me on discord asking for lewds.. pretty much insistent, and wouldn't take no for a reply... i never gave them though... fki that.
things came to ahead when i did something cool in rp and wanted to share it. I talked to the dude about it, saying if he gets a free moment if we could talk 1 on 1.. he ended up freaking out and claiming i was clingy, and this/that... it was a mess. And then he started to dm me calling me clingy, said im not following through a talk we had from the start. I tried asking what was making me clingy, and what his boundaries were (he never told me) and stated it was on me to figure it out.
i stop going to the venue and through my alt had come to find out the guy in question bragged to everyone about popping my erp cherry. *vomits* i ended up leaving that fc because it was just to much internal drama with various cliques in it... and the two leaders were too hands off on reeling people in.

i honestly really understand where the OP is comin' from. I've had an experience similar to this, tho not quite as serious as this is, but still somethin' where ppl i thought were one way showed some colors o themselves i could not agreee with, & in me standin' by my principles, we separated. Maybe one of these days i'll send you that for a story, but i'd like for OP to know it happens, but he'll get thru it. Ppl wind up gettin' excised from your life for a reason, & even if it don't feel to good now, it was mos def for the bestin the long run

People ik we hear the stories of people finding love in MMO’s but always be skeptical of others its still the internet. these type of people disguste me i had a similar experience with someone that didnt like me (and didnt even bother to come talk to me if they had an issue) pretended to be my friend for a long time then weaseled their way into my fc and told them lies about me wich eventually ended up with me logging into the game and being kicked out without a reason being given

We did, for the second tier of the expansion. Eventually we ended that chapter and went our separate ways. All of the pain, drama, and slander could not be avoided however. Only limited. The storm looks a lot different when you're inside of it.
@@QaDri93 We left once Gus joined, we did not stay with him being there. I absolutely refuse it being misunderstood that we stayed.

Why arent these people banned?
I'm unsure what they would get banned for in-game, though? I'm not saying they shouldn't be banned because they absolutely should be, but it sounds like they covered their tracks by doing most things outside the game (at least from what I understood).
I ask myself that too, all I've come to is spreading awareness that people like this exist and lending support to those in need

Honestly doesn't sound like a great bunch of friends to me, sounds like a bunch of selfish idiots who didn't really know their friends. And this is very wierd to me, my Static we all know eachother so well and we all have fun.
We actually did move forward without the leader and gus. He was replacing someone being phased out. The people who experienced this with me I have immense respect for. I would actually describe them as selfless people who gave this leader much more time than deserved as any friend would.
