I met one of my static members and we went snowboarding and while I knew their real name I never called them by it. They even called me by name in game name in public too and it felt normal even tho my game character is a girl with a girl name while I'm a dude irl lol.
It even irks me that some would call me by my rl name cause that's not how they know me. I also play fighting games and lots of my friends called me by my gamer tag too despite knowing my real name. It's just natural feeling

This among a couple other experiences is why I just exist when in the game, but don't really get to know people that much. 12 years ago I was all about getting to know people, doing content together, possibly even meeting up. However, over the last 10 years I've learned that is never really worth it as for some reason in ffxiv background drama seems to be some kind of wide spread necessity. It is really weird to say the least.

Same, these friendships never last or they become messy because of in-game or irl drama/issues, not worth the time, just keep it casual.

It sucks but there are many people who prefer to ghost others when they are displeased, because they dont like confrontations of any sort. It may be cowardly but some people just are like that. Though we all claim open communication is key, speaking your mind makes you vulnerable, so people decide rather than do the right thing they just ignore the problem and move on: if I dont see it, its not there.
Why didn't OP give their significant other the ff ticket? Why did they give it to Max!?
I was debating if I wanted to use an anon account because I realized after I submitted this there were a few things that werent explained 😅...
long story short what happened was I offered Max my spare ticket(he still had to pay me though) because me and the person I'm happily with now were in the first 6 months of our relationship when tickets came around and I wasnt 100% sure at the time that our relationship would make it to fanfest since we were still getting used to one another. I considered myself close with Max at the time since we became coworkers in 2020 and continued to be good friends outside of work through video games and he lives here in Vegas as well so that's why I offered it to him. Also I felt it was a big ask to get my boyfriend to travel across the country at the time, even though when fanfest came around a few months later we decided to start traveling to one another every few months.
(also i know in the vid they werent sure if I asked max first before the tickets, and no lol I straight up asked him during fanfest day 1 since we were hanging out together)
My ex and i met playing mmo's together and even though we were together for several years they preferred to call me by my online name, drove me nuts because they would also introduce me to people with the same name
My and BF call eachother by our in game names( and nicknames from the game) because it’s special for us- also-- we found out in irl, we have similar names!!! We have a good laugh about this.
Would love to submit some drama but as soon as drama starts I'm usually gone
Yeah, I personally prefer to call many of my online friends by their in-game aliases. It feels weird otherwise. There are a few exceptions (mostly with writer friends, since it is actually better *to* separate them from the character), but largely with those I game with, their alias is their identity.

This was sad but luckily wasn't as bad as them messing up OPs rep to everyone they come in contact with. (Hopefully not, that is)
I met my closest FFXIV friends multiple times, with some I even had holidays together, and we always stick to our character names, which I am totally fine with. I mean, we knew each other for like 2 years before we started meeting up, that's a long time to simply let those habits go. Those are like nicknames, and we are all okay with it. :)
I think we need to use the law of averages in this story… The common denominator seems to be the person who wrote the story. They seem to have had problems with everybody they were involved with. in my opinion person writing the story might’ve been more of a psycho than they come off to be. I’d really like to hear from some of these other people and get their side of the story.
OP sounds a little exhausting to be friends or in a relationship with tbh. I think they’re just not ready for a relationship or to be with someone in person long term, it also seems to be a goal out of playing the game. Asking someone to be silent for hours is a lot to ask out of someone. They seem to burn a lot of bridges. It’s hard to tell if they’re the issue or they’re choosing the wrong people to form bonds with.
Bad news before bedtime is bad but I hate bad news at work even more. If it's bad enough I can't focus at all on anything for the entire day so I feel useless on top of already feeling bad.

I was also at Las Vegas FanFest! I, and my friend who recruited me, won the ticket lottery. He brought his cousin. I asked my husbando (from my wedding video) but he was unable.

I dunno, the name one is one of the Minor things imo. i met my Partner in FF14 and we are together for 6 years now and live together, we always call each other by our ingame Names, heck even my Family calls him by his ingame name.

My bro and I didn’t go to the Primals concert lol… we went to the area 15 ffxiv party on friday night there in Vegas.. we were so damn hung over and decided to head home mid day saturday lol! Maybe next time.
but you could go to The Primals then go to area 15 after like many others did!
@@pathra I had to throw some edits in here because I completely got my days wrong… I’ve been meaning to reply that we partied too hard on Friday night after the piano concert and didn’t make it through the whole second day.
the primals performned Sunday night. Piano concert was Saturday and it was amazing. We went to the club Saturday night after the Piano performance.

I think using in-game names irl is ok when it's a friendship that was born in-game. The only time in-game friends should drop the in-game names and use irl names is when the relationship starts to blossom into a more romantic space because things start to get very personal between both people. That's just my opinion.

I don't know any of this people but man, the free fanfrest ticket hurts, I feel it dishonest and greedy accepting it and then ghosting the person all the weekend. The rest just feels more like "it happens" but this seems more they took advantadge of OP and didn't even thank her for it
