Here's my death edition of TiHYDP The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to celebrate the 6 year anniversary and the sequel that will be coming out in a few months. I'll be covering Phil playing the new game. I hope he wage quits Tears of the Kingdom so I'm not stuck sifting through 60+ hours of footage at 12x speed looking for fails. If you like me to make other Zelda TiHYDPs in this format, let me know in the comments. I know there are TiHYDPs for the other Zeldas, but they are way too long, but the length might be justified if Phil really played them that badly, but I would like to have a much shorter, more digestible version out one day.

I'm doing a blind playthrough of this right now and he's right, BOTW does have a learning curve. It teaches you not to rush into fights blindly like DSP always does on the Great Plateau. After a few hours of play you should understand the mechanics and learn to keep your distance and use the bow when you can on big enemies that can 1 shot you. I cannot wait until Tears of the Kingdom, he's gonna fail fail fail fail fail fail fail over and over and over again.
He gets 0 out of games, I felt really good when I took down my first hinox and my first guardian. It was kind of an AHA! I get this game moment.
hinox you gotta shoot their eye. lynels you gotta get good at parrying and flurry rushing as well as paragliding on updrafts then firing your bow in the air. except phil never even thought to try any of that lol.

Yea the game rewards you for getting better. It is the best exploration game I have ever played and really makes you think. Had he played it without being told what to do every time he was challenged he would have felt the accomplishments this game gives.

It’s called anti cheese phil. Maybe the game is telling you to fight the lynel normally instead of standing on the ledge above it cheesing it with arrows
Phil demonstrates one of the things I really like about BotW, how they dealt with range. Give a player a ranged weapon and the ability to climb, of course they're going to think logically and climb somewhere out of reach to shoot. But rather than having the enemies ignore such moves, or replenish hp... both of which can backfire if for some reason the enemy loses pathing to you in regular combat and re-hp's themselves off of it, instead, they just give basically every enemy either a ranged move, or a backup ranged move. So, you can totally try to shoot them where they can't smack you, but that offers a different challenge. No easy sniping.

Any fictional universe with someone like DSP is doomed.
Every time Phil is introduced to a new challenge/concept that acts as an obstacle, his first instinct is never to think of a way to overcome it with the tools he has but instead to continue blindly running into danger while asking "What do I do?" repeatedly before inevitably dying and saying "This sucks."
Gets targeted by a 'Guardian' and then stands there like an idiot waiting for it to either take your picture or your life. Also to add in......only DSP can get killed by a freaking door! I literally just had a lol moment after that incident!!!! ROFL
I’m still bewildered by this. I’ve had some funny deaths in game, but never a death-by-door!
The "music glitched" comment during the finale of dark beast ganon absolutely killed me omg!

DSP seems like the kinda guy who, when presented with something that will clearly do him harm in real life and is color coded to signal that yes fucking around and finding out WILL result in your untimely demise would just do it anyway because it didn't EXPLICITLY spell out that it was dangerous to him.

I had very little issue beating this game even with the phantom armor set (which is un-upgradable and has low armor amount) and I didn't even die nearly as much as phil. It was also my first playthrough.

Probably stream chat told Phil to upgrade stamina before health. Phil did the same thing again in totk, so history repeats itself.
I also upgrade stamina before health so it is easier to explore, but the way Phil is playing totk, Phil should invest in hearts, since he's not interested in exploring and just rushing through the story.
to be fair, it's smarter to update your stamina before your health

A child has a moderate chance of being able to read and follow the directions on a cake mix. They might get a measurement wrong here or there, maybe they won’t mix it enough, but I’d give a child decent odds at doing what the box says. Phil, on the other hand….

This isn’t dark souls phil(although with the way he plays TOTK it might as well be) dodging doesn’t give you a ludicrous amount of s. Learn to sidestep and how to time your dodges ffs
he also thinks 'moving the control stick so link moves slightly' is a dodge. all these times he's saying "I dodged, I dodged, I got hit anyway!" No sir, you moved Link over a little, you didn't execute any kind of dodge or sidestep or game mechanic at all.

I agree with Phil on the rain. It sucks. It's a stupid mechanic and it ruins the fun way too often... That's why Rivali's Gale is my favorite ability in this game. It makes exploring the world so much more fun.
