Depends on context. If you summon a hostile into your world, it's counted as you wanting an honorable duel, thus you are expected to fight them one v one. If it's an invasion, you are free to do what you want. Why are we calling him bad though is because that it's a gank situation AGAINST the invader, thus you as the host has all the advantages against the invader: it's kind of extremely cowardly to not join in on the fight and let your phantoms do all of the bulk work for you. Adding onto that, sometimes he uses pretty op cheesy builds and STILL don't want to fight the invader properly (full Havel with dual rapiers), thus we view him as a casul who didn't git gud.
Getting beaten by DSP in a duel means that you should just probably leave this world. It's seriously painful to see him not try to use the roll at all.
Honestly best part of DSPs Souls games failures is that it gives insight to how these casual scum actually think. That Demon's souls ethernet cable pull followed up with repeating "that guy was cheating, he was cheating, it's just cheating dude!" over and over was amazing.
