But no words about the best ever implementation to QD-LCD world: its backlight in mini-LED which helped to decrease even more the gap between OLED and LCD, in terms of solid blacks and deeper contrast ratio (which starts at 3000:1 in VA types panels). 💀💀
Mini-LEDs are becoming so smart and precise, that even Sony Bravia 9 put its Mini-LED upper than its OLED contestant...

If you are on a budget and want to get the biggest screen possible - QLED is the way to go. The 85-inch Sony X90L is big, bright, with great color and Sony's XR processor. It has been on sale recently for $1999.99. I think this TV is perfect for that basement Media room or home theater. OLED sample videos of brilliantly lit flowers against the inky back of deep space are impressive, but you rarely see things like that in real content.

It's not a mini-led panel - with far fewer local dimming zones. But as you said the processor is excellent at making the best use of the zones that are there.

My former Samsung 8k had it, but aside from even more brightness, I can’t say that the dimming zones helped with the darks much. Btw, Sony’s last 8k sets utilized the mini led Neo panels.
Micro led, on the other hand looks very interesting as they may have the brightness of led, but the same blacks as OLED due to independent pixels.

@@notliosandovalthe way you framed your comment makes it seem like mini-LED is a clear winner, but it still has about a million-to-one contrast ratio compared to OLED’s infinite contrast ratio & absolutely perfect, inky black. If you’re primarily watching in the evenings/nighttime, OLED is the clear winner. Almost nobody wants to blast brightness to the maximum because it doesn’t result in the best cinematic or gaming image. W-OLED or QN-OLED are the true leaders of the future market, if max brightness is someone’s priority, for some reason.

Just bought a Samsung QLED for the first time after throwing a VR controller at my 2021 Crystal HD TV. The difference is pretty noticeable, especially on the darker colors. I thought about getting a QLED which uses Samsung's AI to upscale the image, but I am not a fan of Samsung software and the less of it, the better in my mind. Their hardware is top notch and second to none IMHO. Still, I am impressed at how well this TV looks at 1/2 the price of that of an OLED.

      Fair enough.
I've been trying out my first OLED TV for the past year and a half.
Daily use, mostly for video games. Lots of static HUD elements. Lots of movies, and even using it as a PC monitor now too.
So far, zero issues. Just an amazing image quality that I don't think I'll ever leave again.
Modern OLEDs are pretty great at countering burn in. They dim static pixels like logos, subtitles, and game huds. The whole image slowly rotates by a small amount to further prevent static pixels for too long, the run pixel cleaning every 4 hours of use to make sure all pixels are degrading equally.
It's pretty hard to get burn in. I've put over a hundred hours into some games with static bright HUDS and there's no issue at all.
Of course you can still get burn in if you abuse it hard, but it's not something to worry about unless you have a specific use case of leaving the same image on for a very long time.

I don't know to what extend are dead pixels an issue with OLED TVs but my SONY KD-65A89 bought 3.5 years ago has developed large clusters of dead pixels mostly at the bottom of the screen. I suppose it is the manufacturing fault of my panel, but Sony will not repair my TV as they said it is more than 2 years old. This seems to be rather short life for such expensive (3000 Euro) TV. Therefore I have lost confidence in Organic Light Emitting Diode and in the future I will be looking more at QLED TVs. As example I have 40" Sony LED Bravia TV from 2003 that is still working fine (2000 Euro at the time) that has proven worth the cost and durable.

TCL and Hisense is turning the business of TVs upside down and has oleds struggling. These giant screen led uleds or LCD TVs are being manufactured with big time premium quality at a price that avg joe can afford and people are opting for the immersion of the large screens with a slight sacrifice in picture quality over the oleds and it's expensive prices. Oleds is struggling to compete with this. Most people dont notice these slight differences in picture quality. They can buy a 100" high quality tv at a far less price than these oleds offer in much smaller sets. Out of no where it's a new world in this industry. It is what it is as they say.

    1. Quantum Light Emitting Diode displays are self emissive displays, not yet available on the market, in which quantum dots produce light, they are not LCDs, QLED is just marketing name which happens to be the same as abbreviation for this type of the display, but it's NOT THE SAME.
    2. TCL changed naming of their higher end models to QD-Mini LED
    3. Samsung still uses QLED name on their lower end models
    4. Under the image of Sony A95L you have caption "Sony A95K"
    5. Although it's much less common, LCD TVs also can suffer from image retention, when liquid crystals with time become "stuck"

It’s always advisable you buy OLED wherever you can. The viewing angles, the black levels are all too good to not have. screen burn is hardly an issue with Oleds made within the last 2-3 years. You have to be really reckless to burn-in. There’s so much Technology in place to prevent it from happening.
Apart from Samsung, Sony and LGs QLED/QNED. All the other QLED panels aren’t very good. take Hisenses mini led for example. It’s so cheap for what it is but it’s also crap. The price to get a decent QLED you can buy entry level oleds for the same price. Dont be fooled by nits of brightness. You’ll barely need 1000 nits in most situations

Sorry, Nits makes a HUGE difference for HDR highlights in 10% windows and OLED is currently maxed out at 780-800 nits on OLED 42”-48” sizes. If you’re a gamer that games in HDR, OLED is not the way to go for peak HDR highlights, QLED is. Period. I recently tried a 32” MiniLED monitor with 1400 nits and that is the way HDR is meant to be viewed. Blistering HDR highlights that almost melt your eyes. Non-G series LG OLEDs cannot deliver it. I don't disagree with your findings. With that said, I had a 65" OLED TV, it was rated the highest tv on the market in many ratings found. It was nothing but trouble. First of all, the voices on that tv did not match up with my Bose soundbar, it was like listening to an old japanese movie, words didn't match as being said. After almost 3 months of dealing with the store and through LG directly, they had to get an engineer from LG involved to finally figure it out. It was a nightmare. This set cost almost $3,500 and the color wasn't even all that good. And worst of all, the screen experienced burn-in on the screen, and it wasn't due to certain channels being on consistently. Now I have a QLED 75" Sony tv, top of the line in this category. Color is much better, and what little that OLED is better in color it is so slight in difference I'm not sure many could even tell the difference. And I don't have to worry about burn-in at all. Sticking to Sony. This wasn't to down talk anything in this stream, just my experience.
