I was at the hospital last June lost alot of my memory including my favorite channels but I'm glad I found my way back to yours. Helps me stay positive dealing with my disability 😇 thank you 618 fishing
Man... I'm from Québec, and I've been a fishing aficionado for what it seems like forever. Catfish remains my favourite of them all. Thanks man, your approach to fishing, the respect you show to every living thing in this world... your videos have always had a way of bringing a smile to my face. Keep up the good work!
Super happy for you, Nick! What a great catch on 4lb test; a real testament to your patience, not to mention the hours hours involved in making these videos.
Man those carp grow rather quick. Shame they made it in the ecosystem. I did some looking and bought myself some "618" merch. Thanks for taking me fishing...again!
I look forward to seeing your videos every week. When my phone died and I missed quite a few, I binge watched them when I got a new one. I never miss one usually....
Hey Nick... I follow your Videos for quite some time now and your fishing never gets boring... I Love how you handle the fish compared to other TH-cam anglers out there... There is much respect involved and i love it that you enjoy every species you catch the same... Love your content ❤
Hey Nick I want to tell you how much I really appreciate your videos I have discovered them in the past year and because I've been battling cancer I have not been able to go fishing which is a crime in itself... And the only thing that's been keeping me sane from losing my mind for not going fishing three times a week is being able to watch all your amazing videos! So from the bottom of my heart and my soul take you because your videos are amazing!!! And I will go so far as to say they are life saving for me because I get to watch what I will soon be getting to do again hopefully.
If you have a pc or a newer gaming console, there are many great fishing games. The Angler, Call of the wild being the best. And I say this as a almost daily fisherman living in Montana. During the winter, as I dont ice fish, it helps cure the itch. I wish you the best of luck on your speedy recovery.
@@jameswinn8744 I do I really appreciate you telling me.. I have tried a few but we both know it's not the same lol ... But I do appreciate you telling me that I really do
Got a bunch of trolls today. Nick, your videos are high quality, your photography is beautiful, and I’ve learned a lot about fishing for big fish from you! Looking forward to seeing the Pond of Monsters and hopefully some panfish later in the season, too!
Hey Nick! I see you're at the old stomping grounds. I started to go fishing the last few days, but had work to do. I would have run into you again. It always amazes me to see you catch such big fish on an ultralight rod. Great fishing video as usual! Happy Holidays!
Great video as always Nick! Unless you're fishing for the most finicky trout in crystal clear water, I don't think there's a need to fish 4 lb. test. 6 lb. works for every ultralight situation I'm in and it gives me that extra bit of confidence in case I hook a big fish. You should be able to get at least 100 yards of it onto a spinning reel that size as well. Keep up the good work!
I both agree and disagree. When fish are biting just about anything it's no big deal. When you fish a location like I fish, how slowly the lures fall is often instrumental in getting the fish to bite. That's where line size (diameter) comes into play. Sometimes a bit larger diameter mono helps the lure to sink more slowly, sometimes it's the smaller diameter that works. That's why I take several rods with different size line with me. Also, as a shore only fisherman, I can reach spots that I can't reach with heavier line because the smaller diameter allows me to cast lighter lures a greater distance from the shore, often allowing me to get to spots where the fish are.
Doesn't matter what you catch your videos are great. They portray something about fishing not many fishing youtubers have, through the use of excellent camera work, careful editing, and well timed music, as well as humour (bloopers or jokes or fun stuff), excitement (big fish, epic places and rare things) and dissapointment (losing fish, catching a turtle, finding dead fish on the bank or getting skunked) you capture the beauty of creatures that you find or catch, while showing the beauty of the scenery and portray fishing as it should be: an adventure where you could catch, find or encounter anything. Keep up the videos, and happy new year!
Well it was a really slow day sadly but hey better 2 fish then nothing! Have a great new year Nick and stay safe! Take care and see you next adventure!
Always the bigguns hit on the light gear. Good job! Been with you since you weren't wearing sunglasses fishing for micro bluegill in the local creek. Next spring or summer you should revisit a few of those early microfishing spots toss some bluegill in a bucket and use them at the spillways. Also bighead carp smoke up really well!
Finally you are close to the right spot. 7' deep all the way to the main dam. You are still on the wrong side. Next time stand under the general dean one west side work Rapala and flicker shad along the Rock dam between the intake and the rock dam. The trick is keeping the stripers, Walleye and Largemouth out of the intake structure. That point was the best place in IL. To fish before they moved the intake out into the river. They used to maintain good depth right up to the tower. It was like fishing in a barrel. Move up 100 feet and fish the bottom just up stream of the intake structure it is a Hotspot for Sauger. Good fish can be caught there it is the best spot in that hole. That tail end is where you should spend your time. Fish artificial baits Jigs and narrow lipped crainkbaits will change your life.
I've been fishing that spillway for years now 80% of the fish are big head carp but they fo get massive i go snagging for them with spoons my pb big head is 36lbs out of that spillway, the rest of the fish are gar and the occasional paddlefish and catfish if u wanna catch the monster u gotta head a long way down stream next to the parking lot tp the right
I don't know about in cold weather but in the summer time you can catch catfish on bacon but you will have to fight off every turtle in the water because they love bacon.
I am wondering why you use an ultralight rod when going after monsters? I can see the fun challenge of landing a big fish on light tackle though. I’ve always liked your videos, which you are great at putting together. Like some others here, carp are getting old.
Mr. Nick, have you ever done a video discussing your path on TH-cam. You been in the game for a long time. I really appreciate the content.

The sound of that fish stripping the line off your reel is music to my ears! Thank you and all the best to you and your family in the New Year!

Hahaha I love you too thanks for watching baby! ❤️
Ultra-light fishing is so much fun, it ups the level of difficulty and the fights with big fish are really fun!
Fantastic catch ,Nick! The odds of you landing that fish on 4 lb line were about like the Pittsburgh Steelers making the playoffs.
Always catch the Thursday videos! Even if it’s Friday over here in England!

I use 14lb fluorocarbon for trout and catch 10 pounders on jerk baits. That ultra light line is not necessary

I recognized that spot right away. Especially with the drone shot of the other side of the dam.

Was he hooked in the tail? Crazy good fight
Going out in the morning to chase some crappie. NE Oklahoma. Will report back with the aar. Over and out😂
Holy smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Nick, is it possible to give us a hint on what knots you mostly use? Thanks, good show !
I'm glad I don't have to deal with those carp. The part of the Coosa River I'm on is overpopulated with gar.
Nick we all know a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work
Another good video, think we could see you going after some bowfin in a future video soon?
Hey Nick what brand of boots and nets do you use
Yo, I ran into you there! So sick to meet you!
Looks like a good day of fishing to me
What a crazy fight! Too bad you only caught carp, but a fish is a fish.
You gotta fish off the Wing Dikes this time of the year if you want to catch some True Monster Catfish.
How oh how could i have guessed your river monster was gonna be a bighead carp 😂
Is snagging legal below the dam? Looks like a great place to fill the freezer with some invasives!
I just want to be like you enjoying every vlogs and fishing adventure but I don't have Rod and Gopro😢
Just north of you I caught my biggest walley. And south to the. Next bridge is a good catfish spot if it still fishes the same way.
I envy you nick ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome video as always Nick I was wondering how much line do you keep on each of your rods?
I try and keep them as full as possible. My ultralight holds around 100 or so yards of 4lb fluoro I believe
Of all that you catch, how much do you take home and eat?
I've been fishing that spillway for years now 80% of the fish are big head carp but they fo get massive i go snagging for them with spoons my pb big head is 36lbs out of that spillway, the rest of the fish are gar and the occasional paddlefish and catfish if u wanna catch the monster u gotta head a long way down stream next to the parking lot tp the right
I like how you pronounce lure
Hey you're in my spot 😂
My one and only grass carp was caught on a rod with four pound line and a tiny jig on a floating jighead. It was just under ten pounds
I'd size up that ultra light to a light instead, with a 2000 size reel with braid and a 5 feet FC leader.
Mr. Nick. I have a question about your channel. Do you do night time fishing? If so will you do one next spring or summer?
I used to do quite a bit of night fishing, but filming at night is tricky so I haven’t done it in quite some time. Thanks for watching!
