This song changed my life. I loved the Moody Blues from The Days of Future Past all the way to Seventh Sourjorn and I was just getting into acid or LSD for you younger people, and my father was an alcoholic and was physically and and verbally abusive to me as I was growing up and I was an angry and bitter teenager, but after listening to this song over and over again,I realized that I was only hurting myself and then i learned to forgive my father and stopped hating him and I felt much better. Now whenever I get angry at the stupidity of the world I just listen to this song and it clams me right out

      oh wow, Brian Timmons.
That is some pretty heavy stuff.
~glad the Moodies pulled you through it.
The Balance (alone) is an EPIC piece.

It’s the way it’s always been. There’s a natural order and humans lost their way with industrialization, and now we are destroying nature. But as you can see, nature is fighting back with great effect.

I hear you, Brian. The Moody Blues helped me through some dark times and I was right there with you during those experimental days. I look to them now to get me through current events. This morning as I was waking up thinking about all the horrors right now from fires to floods to human distress this song came back to me to replace all these thoughts. And I realized this morning that long ago I had listened to this song so many times that I have it memorized.

I cry literally every time I listen to this...and I listen to it a lot.
Graeme Edge and the late Ray Thomas wrote some of the most wonderful, beautiful words ever when they composed this.
This song, if that is the correct term for it, is THE lesson of life, and sadly, we still have not learned it.

I adore this song! I adore and love The Moody Blues!!! 💙💙💙 I am gutted that beloved Ray Thomas, and now Graeme Edge have passed. 💔💔 Growing up, they were all my big brothers, and taught me to LOVE! I've always had difficulty finding the BALANCE between the Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, and Psychological; and the Moodies pointed me towards the true paths to Love and Enlightenment. GOD BLESS THE MOODY BLUES, now and during our travels down Eternity Road together, all of them and especially Graeme, Ray, Justin, John, and Mike!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Just open your eyes and realize there is something so much greater than yourself that cannot be described in a popular novel, speech, art piece, song, movie or poem. There is a force outside of our self that would be daft to assume it male or female. This beautiful existence is not by chance. It is not a "big bang". This balance is perfect and to dwell on the negative aspects of nature and our own negative presumptions of morality is only upsetting the balance. Evil must be present to know or understand what good is. Hence the balance. We need this song to echo through our civilizations more than ever.

    • @slobodanzalica2681
      @slobodanzalica2681 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

You are right... in Buddhist spirituality it is compassion; in Christian spirituality it is love, which include compassion. In my opinion the Moody Blues and their opus of first seven or eight albums are the greatest artistic achievements within popular culture of 20th century.
Their music is fourfold: melody -- harmony -- rhythm -- lyrics, and as such it often excels many master pieces of classical music. They are completely in accordance with the michaelic Spirit of Time. Some lyrics of theirs recall to the messages or teaching of modern anthroposophically oriented spiritual science...

What always captured me about this track was Mike Pinder's beautiful, beautiful mellotron strings work behind his own spoken voice (before he adds some strident brass for the sung Middle 8 parts). Especially behind the second verse. It's spellbinding playing of a notoriously difficult instrument, and no one else could achieve what he could with it. When Pinder left, the band (although remaining oustandingly good) lost that element of magic that had made their music so enchanting.

They didn't induct YES until Squire had died from cancer. They inducted people like Chaka Khan and a bunch of rappers before they inducted Rush. The "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" is a self-serving creation of the Cultural Marxist hipster fools who run Rolling Stone magazine.
I remember a music history teacher, at a conservatory I attended 30 years ago, saying that had he actually listened to Rolling Stone's reviews, he would own the crappiest collection of music on the planet. The whole class laughed, and nobody disagreed.
I agree with you that the Moodys belong in the RRHoF - they should have been inducted 20 years ago - but the thing itself is a sham and a farce, a thinly-veiled "cool kids' club," so at the end of the day, who cares? WE know The Moody Blues' true place in music history. Let the poseurs do as they wish. Pay them no heed. 😎

As I am fighting the big "C" with surgery, hormone and radiation therapies, the lyrics (prayers!?) of the Moody's songs have re-inserted themselves back into the deepest emotional and conscience centers of my conscious mind!! They again sound the same as I initially enjoyed them back in the '60s & '70s. I wish the whole world could hear, feel and LISTEN to every aspect of ALL their songs as I do. The human condition could benefit SO MUCH if this could come true. OOPS, I 'digressed again. Just wanted to thank you as I wanted to post this tune to my friends and YOU came through....BIG TIME! 21 and I get it. I get everything all the artists have been trying to tell us over the years. Certain things ring out to you because they tend to be the truth. Just feel the earth around you. Every molecule. Think of the ants and animals and everything that make up this beautiful planet. Idk to me this song just makes sense. It made sense to me before but I get it. I also figured out a lot of the same stuff Tesla did on my own. Spirituality is being killed in this day and age by people who absolutely refuse to believe it even exists. I was one of them but always wanted to have some experience that showed me something was there. For me that was feeling absolutely horrible about burning a Bible with my gf (she felt the same and we started talking religion and stuff). Anyways, it’s all real and not at the same time. It exists in the mind, and the subconscious holds the universes memory and collective knowledge thats culminating in everything you know.

Sad to see the hate so rampant on the internet. I guess it's an easy thing to do... I thought Justin's comment was uncalled for then I see an even worse one by pathfinder55. Lighten up and gimme (and yourselves) a break...

Was it Jesus, was it Buddha, was it Krishna, or was it Allah? The Moody Blues taught me at a very early age to search for The Light Within.
