    I crossed the convoy (stopped counting after 18 Raptors) in early may as I was in Essaouira. As a 2016 Ranger Limited owner, i must confess that I felt small next to these monsters...

      The new Ranger will have that engine as an option along with a less powerful version, plus the ten speed takes over from the six speed automatic. The main difference with the Raptor is the suspension, particularly at the rear, which is unlikely to find favour as is with commercial users.

      The Ranger started as a full size truck then went compact and now it’s midsize... I still love the Ranger and f-150, but the Ranger is probably more practical and now there isn’t a huge size difference. I would say the F-150 is better for rear passengers when it comes to leg room. @@tcmx712 Do you even research what you type, or just copy what other ill-informed people have told you? ( www.pacificford.co.nz/Page/103/ranger-raptor ) Scroll down from the top of this link and see the dyno sheet Ford themselves have put comparing the 3.2L turbo vs the 2.0L bi-turbo. Show me exactly where at half throttle the 3.2L makes more power and torque. 99% of the entire rev range the 2.0L has it beat from low end to top end.
      That all being said, I still prefer the idea of a de-tuned 3.2L producing equivalent power than a highly tuned 2.0L engine. I have a 2016 3.2L Ranger XLT and trading it in in a few weeks for a new 2019 XLT where I have the option of either engine. test drove the 2.0L and thought it was remarkable and the 10speed is freaking out of this world. But i still settled on the 3.2L for the reasons stated above. if they put the 10 speed in the 3.2L I would be happier though
      Point being, don't bash something without being able to back it up with facts or at the very least without having tested it yourself. The 2.0L has marginally noticeable more power when actually driving. The Ranger Raptor which weighs more than the Ranger would actually be slower due to the weight.

      Rob Welsh what is the consistency of the pickup experience of VW compared to Ford’s one ?... Ford has been a pionner in this segment for several decades and has a recognized notoriety. Amarok is here since a decade maximum, and if only you put on the table a japaneese pickup (L200 Sportero or a Hilux) as a competitor, I would understand... but VW Amarok, why ? Because it is VW, because it is german?...

      @@countdracool1348 I don't understand why ford don't do a true rhd conversion of the f150 raptor. Yeah it's a big truck, but only with the width, look at vans and coaches, particularly in europe, they seem to do fairly well even on smaller roads. Having driven one of these for a couple of hours in southern italy, where the roads would be trails in other countries, i had no issues whatsoever with driving, and even parking. You just need to get used to the size, once that's done with, the rest is a breeze. And that rear leg room, for longer trips it's a blessing. Ford could make a killing selling rhd f150 raptors, as all truck guys outside the US would be lining up to buy them (at a reasonable price, not the £100,000 import companies are asking for). I guess they just can't be arsed with the extortionate taxes countries are piling on car/truck buyers nowadays.

  • @hedydd2
    @hedydd2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Unfortunately it has a major drawback. It has a coil sprung rear axle. The issue with that is that it comes with a reduced payload as I understand it. Much lower than the one ton that qualifies it, in many areas, as a commercial vehicle with all the tax benefits that brings to the self employed and VAT registered businesses. That adds 20% to a normal Ranger's price straight away and prevents it from having 100% tax relief and adds a whole lot to a driver's 'benefit in kind' taxation.
    Nissan Navara and Mercedes X [same vehicle in four cylinder guise] also have coils at the rear but maintain a ton payload and a stiffer unladen ride in order to qualify as commercial vehicles.

      Where in Europe apart from on private land by consent can you have ‘fun’ with such trucks? Ford USA didn't want the Ranger as they thought that it would take sales away from the F150. So Ranger was designed for the world market excluding the USA. The Raptor is purely a special fast off road Ute,pickup or truck it's not designed as a heavy load vehicle hence the rear coils.
