    The Ranger range won the 2020 international pickup of the year award, you want a workhorse, get the basic Ranger, you want a more fancy workhorse, get the WildTrak, but if you aren't really in need of a workhorse because you aren't a builder or a farmer, then you go for the Raptor, it tows less and carries less in the bed than the other 2, but it can take on terrain and at a higher speed than the other 2 can't., it's the vehicle you use if you like going off-road camping or caravaning. that is what I think anyway.

      Just remember it’s all about scale though. Our roads are a lot less wide and parking spaces are tiny compared to the US. So yeah this Raptor feels huge as it’s a lot bigger and wider than most cars on the road.

    Good review, shame you didn't actually do an "off road" review too, as promised at the beginning of the video. Off roading is far more than sliding about on a level grass field. And yes, in the UK such a truck is going to be very niche due to the BIK rates/lack of ability to register as commercial. But amazingly enough, the UK isn't the entire World. And this truck was designed for totally different markets to ours, such as Australia and Asian/Pacific markets. The UK also has somewhat odd conditions for load capacity. For instance, take a look at the load rating on a US spec regular Ranger or even their bigger trucks like the F-150. Very few can carry the weight (officially rated) to be classified as a commercial vehicle in the UK.

    This bloke doesn't get why it was built, to take on the Baja 1000, a 4 by 4 tough terrain endurance race, it can deal with being used on a farm as a workhorse, this is what the standard Ranger was purpose-built for, the Raptor is basically a rally pick-up truck, not a workhorse for a farm, although it could handle that too.

    Have had mine for 4,500km on Australian roads. Great vehicle on and off road - ACTUAL off road, not twirling around in a paddock with traction control off 😂🤦🏽‍♂️ The only downfall of the vehicle come stock is it doesn’t have an air compressor to inflate tyres when actually 4WD’ing (not drifting 🤓).... Easy to add one, however. I’ll just add it’s easy as fuck to reverse after half a day of driving, too 🤷🏽‍♂️

      I've done 63,000km down in Tassie in under 2 years in mine... my daily driving takes me through the thousands and thousands of kilometers of dirt and gravel forestry roads across the state and I drive it pretty hard... I don't do much slow off roading but heaps of time spent at 100kph or more on dirt is where these things really shine... they're a little under powered but truth be told, most buyers couldn't handle the car off the highway if they had 250kw......................

    I am not sure whether it was such a good idea to add the Raptor badge to a Ranger. Ford should just have added the 2.0 diesel engine to the existing Ranger line-up as an option to those desirous of a fuel-efficient but powerful diesel engine, which for most users is more than sufficient.

    • @BOTBreviews
      @BOTBreviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Raptor is about far more than the engine though, it’s about that incredible suspension and off road capability

    • @bidohalcyon2715
      @bidohalcyon2715 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BOTBreviews Agreed, hence my feeling that Ford should have maintained the Raptor badge on the F150 pick up that is meant for more off-road activity than the Ranger. For the Ranger they already have the Wildtrack which they would have beefed up with extra toughness necessary for typical day-to-day use.
