SO TRUE, SOMETIMES I GET SCARED BECAUSE VIDEOS SOMETIMES DISAPPEAR....
always amazed me that a three-piece band had such a huge sound. just awesome xx RIP, Dusty xx
Yep there's been a few cream, taste, rush, jimi h e ,even the police amongst many
@@chriswalford9228you forgot the one with the biggest sound.😏 Motörhead
Grand Funk!!
Lol, they never had. I watched the 1980 show in person, and if you cant hear it, there is another guitar mixed in here. So much for the "huge sound"... smoke and mirrors. Find their oldest live shows, like Pensacola, 1971. THAT was the true sound of ZZ, 3-piece.. true and raw. This is just a scam for idiots.
Oh yeah... don't forget Cream or Green Day.
I feel the loss of Dusty Hill quite keenly watching this. I have no idea how many times I’ve watched this video. Something about it just won’t let me go. God bless you, Mr. Hill. And God bless your family and friends in your absence.
That great BIG little ol' band from Texas, and Dusty was the man who put the big bottom on it for 50 years.
Rest peacefully Dusty Hill.
that guitar sound is unbelievable.
Cap'n Crunch for sure!!! 🎸
I'm 17 years old from Costa Rica and this mans are Legends, they are playing for god in the heaven
I was 17 years old when these guys were just hitting their prime. They always produced great music with great lyrics this stuff will never die RIP Dusty
When I saw this back in 1980 it really blew me away. One of the best live TV concerts of all time.
Little ol band from Texas that's been kicking ass for decades .rip dusty
So cool. Tube Snake Boogie live, a year before the song was released.
Dusty was such an underrated bass player, and a great singer as well. RIP mr Hill, and thanks for the music.
I don't think Dusty was Underrated at anything ! Thats a nice thing to say but if you have been listing to ZZ top as long as i have you would know that all three members of this little old band from Texas have been smok en for years. Maybe you haven't been around digging this band as long as me. Rest in peace Dusty and Rock on!!!
@@timothyspumphrey1186 Don't mind the "underrated" drones. They simply can't think of anything else to say. And of course he is wrong.
ZZ TOP is a massively successful rock band. And have been for decades. None of them are "underrated."
I saw this on Norwegian television back then. They use to broadcast "night rock" back then. I was only 9 yrs old. Been a fan ever since.
I was playing in a band in Drammen at the time and remember watching this on Norwegian TV!
It doesn’t get any better than this
Recorded in my hometown Essen / Germany in the Grugahalle. Good old times.
I'm in Colombia Just To Say I Love ZZTop
great taste, young man 😁
That looks like it was a fun show. I've seen them 3x and they always put on a good performance.
Nobody gets more sound out of electric guitar than Billy Gibbons. These guys put the power in power trio.
All music journalists at the time were gobsmacked, they thought powertrios were dead and here the whole house was rocking!!
Once they released EL Loco, which wasn't out at the time. Tube Snake Boogie and the rest of album was not the end of hearing the Les Paul Standard.
But Rev.Willie G. semi-retired Miss Pearly Gates.
That guitar made ZZTOP, as Billy has stated. Its the tone, all about the tone!
Gonna look up the release date fer EL Loco,be back uno memento.
It claims June26'81, so that's 14 months later.
I happened to see them the first of six times on consecutive tours starting Dec. 27, '81 to 2005.
And throughout that timespan, they only performed Mexican Blackbird once on my fifth time. And that was at Rodeo Houston, being the first time in NRG Stadium and their first ro-day-o. And Willie brought The Eliminator and drove it around the stadium dirt. That was cool as a mofo!!!
That first show in Dallas was awesome, no opening act. That something ya never forget being 19.
R.I.P. Dusty & merci pour le Son et l' Énergie...Blues +Rock never died
Totally badass! Rest in peace Dusty.
If these guys came on the scene today looking and sounding like this, they would still be a huge hit. Timeless.
Saw them last year and they were awesome
Saw them last summer. Still as hard-rockin' as always!
@JJAMES clearly not his point.
Wish I could “Like” your comment twice. It’s so damn true.

RIP Dusty.
This was the night when I was watching the german tv and I saw them the first time and became right away a for ever fan. Was back then 14 years old..hell yeah
BAD ASS ROCK N ROLL BAND OF ALL TIME ..REST IN PEACE "DUSTY".THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU, BILLY& FRANK.😥😎...
RIP Dusty, thanks for the great music!!!
Amen
My son was working the door at the Blue Iguana in Houston. Billy started a conversation with him but my son didn't realize who he was.people started coming up to him with tapes and trying to talk. He then knew
Who it was. My son said he was really a laid back guy.
R,I,P Dusty, thank you Sir for the great music Man.
amazing every single good artist played rockpalast late 70s early 80s at the rockpalast and it was a blast of a performance
Fortunate enough to see the 2X. Late '70s and early '80s.
this gentleman who puts out these vedios is a blessing .....Roland J Gutierrez from Magdalena New Mexico USA 🇺🇸
Listen to that Les Paul fucking GRRROWWWWLL!!
RIP Dusty.
God Bless You.
To those who don't know, this was an historic set that turned ZZ Top from a band that toured around Texas to one that toured around the world.
Wauw ...I was there at 20 Years old ...2 stages and 9 bands I think ...EPIC SHIT
I’m 73 yo and I still love ZZ and this song!!!
Three dudes of glorious power boogie blues. Nothing like 'em. Props
The initial pan across the frenzied crowd and the German TV cameras as Billy rips out the groove on the Les Paul - A transcendent moment captured.
i'd forgotten just now that Dusty had died, i guess i just didn't want to think
that zz-top would ever be changed - man oh man, rest in peace Dusty
Texas blues right there!!!ZZ TOP will live forever 🤘
3 guys did this!
Just love this band, greatest good time band ever, just love tempo, guitar and overall sound. Live forever ….
I’m finally learning to play guitar (at 49). If I’m ever 1/100 as good as Billy I’d be happy as a clam.
I know you're not asking for advice, but if I were you, I would look into alternate tunings. They show up a lot in this type of music. Keith Richards uses them all the time.
listen kids this is rock n roll
Can't decide what's better, this straight forward aggression or the funk on the studio version. Both have their own unique feel.
lets do it....
RIP Dusty Hill . A sad day in Houston.
Holy crap, I saw them in 1980 when I was 16 at the downtown War memorial in Rochester. The entire place was smoking, literally. Good God, what a memory.
I Bet This Show Was Great! The Crowed Looked Like They Liked It! I Seen them so many Times Dusty Will Be Missed Badley..
This is by far the best version of this song Love it
I seen these guys a dozen times and I enjoyed each concert I went to
Grew up on zz top still my favorite band of all time no one puts on a show like these 3 guys
Brian Dobbins so did I and totally agree the soundtrack of my life.Coolest and most awesome Texan boys going, and for so long
Like this version a lot better than the album version
So true !!! We miss Rockpalast !!!
Saw them in the early '80s, always a fun show with zz!
they are still here.....with love...james mccluskey
MAN, that sound is just unbelievable!
Wish I had such big sound on stage.
I first saw them in 1976, after a friend played Fandango for me. At the time I didn't know much about them, and when they came out I could not believe that there were only 3 of them producing that incredible wall of sound.
I was in the Great Lakes in '76-'77 (basic training, then school) and saw the Atlanta Rhythm Section open for ZZ Top in Chicago Stadium. Great show. I don't even remember how we got back to the base. I do remember a Checker cab with about 8 people in the back seat going around the boom gates with a freight train coming on our way TO the show. RIP, Dusty.
I was about ten years ahead of you but with a similar military AIT experience...we were crammed into a car entering Nogales Mexico with Jimi Hendrix on the radio...my first hearing of Jimi. Wow, who the hell is that,? I sez...
I saw them live in S. Florida in 81. They put on one hell of a show! Billy had on a flight suit with red knee bands and a top hat. All I can remember about Dusty was he wore a Derby hat. When they played Cheap Sunglasses Billy put on a pair huge sunglasses. It took days for my ears to stop ringing. RIP Dusty.
i? crying for you from south of spain you are my inspiration at guitar
r i p man dusty
Billy and Dimebag have the best distortion tone of all time and it ain’t even close. Nobody else comes close. That heavy thumping is like pure cocaine.
Billy’s voice has gotten better with time
His voice has aged like a fine whiskey.
This song is just good fun...thanx zztop
Frank Beard has got to be one of the best drummers, ever. The guy has a damn good voice also. Too bad ZZ didn't exploit that as they should have.
Best version
Rockabillie Rock and Roll. Kick some ass and here we go!!
I watched this concert on German television at the age of 22. It was 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning. I drank a good beer and smoked a fine cigar (Cuesta Rey!). After that, I fell asleep and burned a big hole in my parents' armchair. I woke up when the smoldering fire reached my thigh. A good memory for me - not for my parents :-))
Man being from South Louisiana we played ZZ along with all our southern Rock Bands
the way ZZ Top plays this!! has I good Sound to it!! when we play this!! people love it too! going to play it like this.. the guitar sounds great!! thanks for sharing the Video..C.O.O.L!!!! the drumming on this is Great!! Sounds G.O.O.D!!!! I Know The Bass Backs all that up!!!
German crowds have got to be some of the most polite crowds n the world. For them to make this level of noise was a HUGE compliment.
The Beatles would disagree about German crowds. But I get ya.
The greatest guitar tone
Loved that, tighter than a virgins slit...man, that’s put me in a good mood....👏👏👏👏...fucking love this band, always have....
What a great blues and rock song from ZZ Topp
Been going to see ZZ Top live since their "World Wide Texas Tour" in 1976 (at The Summit in Houston) and I still go see 'em every chance I get! I live just down the road from Frank Beard and see him driving around town from time to time.
1974 ZZ TOP's Barn Dance and BBQ....
What does Frank "No" Beard drive?? That's awesome though man, ZZ rulez!!!!
Chris Martinez I’d never sell my house.
Got to c them at the summit a couple times but not that early. Fun times. They sold them 4 nights in a row out fast
@@GiveMeYourNachosButthead A very high powered and highly souped up version of the Eliminator with anti air craft turrets, a well stocked fridge and a top of the range flux capacitor just fitted and a tank fully loaded with the most powerful of Libyan nuclear reaction fuel. ZZ gonna nuclear blast their way through time and boogie it to the max every stretch of the god dam way!
Bring back the joy of life 🤘 ♠️🙏❤️🤘
Been using this when I workout...works great.
Back when we were young
Awesome memories
Rip dusty , now go show heaven how to rock and roll
Man these Amish dudes rock
hahaha!!!
They had that sound down packed
Truth is, 1970 to '79 they were ultimate Houston/Dallas boogie. Players get old, players hang in there, it's part of the cycle. Too bad we haven't recycled back to this kind of jam-ass music today. Not yet. Long live ZZ Top. Mike the Vet, Vietnam 1967 to '69.
Thanks for your service to the Country, and I agree, we need to get back to raw jams! True story, I was born in 68' and lived outside Dallas in late 1977, but my dad had just gotten transferred so we were getting ready to move to LA, when I was at a roller rink and I heard, "I've been bad, I've been good, Dallas Texas, Hollywood". I thought they were talking about me, and that was the first time I had heard ZZ Top. Another song they played at the rink that stood out was "Jail Break" from Thin Lizzy.
TheVeteransNetwork pk
they were prett damn smart to add just the right amount of cheese and flair in the 80's to stay in the game.........i grew up late 80's in new england. nobody around here listened to this kind of music then but everyone knew and liked zz top because of the beards/clothes/sunglasses/car.
this is incredible! beats the living hell out of the studio version of this song!!!
Fantastic! 42 years later, still amazing. ;D
the beartd and the legend behind him^^ rest in peace Dusty
I got a girl, she lives on the hill, she won't do it but her sister will... so, it's all about dancing! :D
One of the 1st concerts early 70s Seattle Washington BESTEST
Ol dusty holding it all together RIP
I said it a long time ago some boys from Texas they are more than just musicians and entertainers they are technicians you can set your Metrodome living breathing truly an American art form many times I was at concert with ZZ Top and at the end of the show Dusty for the Reverend Billy Gibbons wood remind us remind us to be careful on the way home that he wanted to see us all next tour truly an American icon thank you brothers that little ol band from Tejas
RIP Dusty. Still in mourning.
When I want to get down … I do the boogie … love these Boys ❤
I HAVE every track and video ZZ TOP have ever made including bootlegs, I loved them then and I love them now, there songs and playing range from good to excellent, and Billy Gibbons' off the wall soloing is just so fucking awesome!!!
My feelings for them have changed since I first saw them in 1969 (The Moving Sidewalks) and then many times since then as ZZ Top. And sorry to say. not for the good. Love the albums, love the music, but have been disappointed with their shows.
@@matthewmontegut9159 I saw ZZ-Top 2019 in Munich and was disappointed too! 1980 in Rockpalast they were awesome. The albums like most.
Jimi Hendrix said Billy was his favorite guitar player.
I'd like to thank you, for what you did, what you did, what you did... I thank you
A great band. During the pandemic I tried to grow my beard long like theirs. It didn't work out, so it's still short.
Blue Jean Blues , the day we lost Dusty Hill, R.I.P.
when i was 20,,
Rockpalast Night's - best German TV Show!
RIP DUSTY WE WILL MISS YOU
RIP Great Dusty!!
That bass tone is like a whole rhythm guitar
Their sound is incredible live. The energy they give off gives you goosebumps!!
Totally holding it down.
Dusty Hill very unique, underrated and double clutching bassist ; fills up all gaps and can play the fast bass runs when needed..
The opitome of bad ass. ZZ Top!
Thanks
saw them in 70s world wide texas tour hollowed fa. one of my fav bands.

The drumming is superb, a great recording .
