My first Rock Concert was Z Z TOP's Texas World Wide Tour, in 1976, at the Met Center in Bloomington, Minnesota. I was 14. I discovered the band on my brothers 8 track tapes, listening to the First Album, and Rio Grande Mud in the early 70's, and I have been listening now for 47 years. I Love this band's 70's music, more than words can possibly express. THANK YOU‼️🙏 Z Z TOP.
This is the real ZZ Top. Dusty Hill lives in Baycliff, TX I used to open for them during the 90s on occasion. He was literally 3 doors down from me. Billy is awesome one on one jamming.
Sometimes the live versions outshine the studio versions as they get time to actually perfect the songs over a period of time playing the song live. There's a version of "Just got paid" from 1980 on TH-cam that (in my opinion) is much better than the studio version!!!
Dusty on Nasty Dogs & Funky Kings is beyond priceless. Hats off Mike for providing this classic performance. I still pull out my Fandango vinyl just to hear the A side.

Any ZZ top concert I have been to has been one of the best concerts I've ever heard.I don't know if it's cuz I got lucky and I just happened to see them when they were having an "on" night every single time I went, I suspect more it's just the continuity of their constant touring and playing together that has made them such a tight unit that always sounds good.I'm sure you know that it's not easy for a guitar player to hold together a three-piece and make it sound good constantly. You have to work overtime and You got to have a special something to pull that off.Maybe Dusty Hill is that special something Sprinkled on top of Billy's playing.
Rockpalast was the best live music show in the WORLD . The time that handmade music was the standard. They broadcasted live concerts every weekend, and twice a year there was a Rocknight. My son was a doorman at "The Blue Iguana" in Houston back in the 90's. Billy Gibbons came to the door with his son He didnt recognize him but they talked for awhile. Billy asking my son do you like this band ? I'am thinking on signing them. By this time people are coming over to him with tapes of their music. Billy says nice talking to you I'am gonna go hangout with my son. Billy had on a leather racing type jacket with letters that looked Asian. My son took a last look and it said ZZTOP. Later his boss said dont ever card Billy! I think that's the reason he talked to my son because he treated him like a regular guy.
I was at the winter garden in dallas, New year's night"79. 3,000 capacity, Billy and Dusty were stone cold stunt n. They were confiscating anybody's camera at the front door, If you got caught filming, You and your camera were escorted out. The show started at 9.. They weren't done till 1a. You have to realize, It was new year's night, So... they were in the mood. I've tried to think of the words that put you there, And as good as I am at painting a picture, Words will fail me. I have been to over 50 Bad ass concerts, Nothing Can touch that night. You could easily push your way to the front of the stage, Billy five feet in front of me, Absolutely shredding with his slide, And it sounded like a rhythm guitarist was playing with him, He doesn't let any camera catch it, The man is wicked, Sick, On a whole another level.

We share alot of the same values and mores and tend to have the same outlook on life. I really think if you want more, consult history-because this relationship between TN & TX is not my own opinion. Thank you for your interest though
This is epic. That bass sound!
This may be my favourite ZZ Top era - just before they discovered the drum machines and sequencers.
They were still in that funky Texas blues mentality.
Well said.
I do love me a good head banging one chord trance jam, and this one is fine- then they kick it into Total Trance with that amazing riff around the drums- that’s almost getting all the way back to prehistoric m.o.s folks!
The best version of NDFK I have ever seen live.
The best 10 minutes I spent all day
listening through good headphones opens up a whole new amazing sound.
That's what I'm doing right this minute! Sony MDR-V 70s 50 mm drivers,response 8Hz -30,000Hz.
Tim Hoover Agreed 100%....Sennheiser’s here and the separations are crazy amazing
In the zone the way they used to play through the 70s was as this is pure KILLER INSTINCT ...
Feels kinda strange I was 3yrs old back then and the country I was living in was in deep shit communism... while in the next door Germany the ZZ Top were fucking rockin!
it's all my life,i live in Belgium and since i was 12 years old when i hear zz top for the first time ,i 'm 62 years old and it's always a bonheur for me to hear zz top, forgive me for my faults in englisch because i'm french....
You're doing fine, us ZZ fans speak the same language.
Belgium is not a country very rock n' roll..Maybe you watched with German TV.
@@ericgisclon8122 ??
@@ericgisclon8122 we didn't have a tv at this moment ,but I had the zz top's first album , my great brother had buy it in US .
@@dominiquevandevorst3897 Now I understand!! I ts good for you to talk in english .Even if I speak french!!lol
This guys can really play the hell out of their instruments when they want to. Killer versions!
That's how it used to be. Sorry! Amazing stuff for sure...
Dusty Hills bass playing blows my mind. He will be missed. Cant hold the tears back. Decades of great music. RIP DUSTY! You will be missed by many...
frank is so very crisp here
Been enjoying these guys for decades, always bring me up.
Your right
All I can say is "WOW" --- all 3 of these guys are absolutely top-notch.
This video has great audio. The stuff the Reverend is puttin down is sick. His Touch, feel and tone are unmatched dayumn .
Billy Gibbons Tone is just outta this world.. Just playing the juiciest licks and they sound so crisp and warm.
30 seconds in and this is a thumbs up. One of ZZs best bluesy jams.
‘Is that you bangin on the front door, you said you had enough but you’re comin back for more”
R.I.P. Dusty!
Been enjoying these guys for decades, always bring me up.
They were sooo good back then, no glitz, just bitchin' blues! I saw them in Buffalo in '79 or '80, and again in Seattle in 1980. My ears are still ringing. :-)
Thanks for the music!!
Saw em open for The Rolling Stones at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and the Stones never had a chance , Texas loud and proud boys right there..
“Fool for your stockings” makes me so glad I love women
Billy could play a broom stick and still sound good killer tone.
For sure, lol, Peace and Respect from Canada...
Steve Howe could pluck his shoelaces and get a better tone.
@@Sweet--Richard.4981 2 different guitarists , Billy has Soul , Howe is tech great but no soul.....
My son was a doorman at "The Blue Iguana" in Houston back in the 90's. Billy Gibbons came to the door with his son
He didnt recognize him but they talked for awhile.
ZZ like a fine plate o' bbq....bear down on the meat and ease off the potato salad...have mercy...
Thanks Mike via ZZTop 🌺🎧🎼🎼💙
Excellent! Thank you for this upload!.......For live, the sound is great.
I saw them at then three rivers stadium, they were soooooo loud and I was in peanut heaven far away!!!
He has to be the very most underapprecated guitarist ever period no one else and he's still doing hi a thing or shall I say Thang!
Disagree amigo - For everyone in the know, or even remotely interested in rock/blues, Billy G is a absolute legend, one of the GOATs for sure ! Hendrix once gave him his praise ! And you're right, The Reverend is still preaching his gospel , The Blues !
Billy Gibbons...nowhere near him in those days..What a tone..What a great band they were..
Are...
@ROBERT CRAIG in yo dreams !
We all know lots ‘bout Billy and Dusty, but truth be told, what a bad ass of a guy is Frank, my man, 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Dusty is really a Killer on Bass. Awesome Performance on every ZZ Top Gig since 1969.
At my funeral!!! My friends and family WE BE watching this version of Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings!!!!!!!! FACT. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
R.I.P. Dusty
Thanks Mike, one forgets just how awesome earlier Top was. Tres Hombres indeed.
I’ve seen ZZ Top Seven times and every time they were perfect!!!! I saw the World WideTexas Tour with Point Blank opening for them!!!
Pearly, when she was still rippin' it up. Superb.
yo mac.are you sure thats pearly.it has a kinda new laquer shine to her.also look at the top.distinctive seam.
aint no '59 that left the shop like that imo.refinished goldtop maybe?i love billy, but he aint no fool.would you take your nr.1 round the world?story goes he has a Original moderne too .not...
That's definitely Pearly. It was "only" a 21 year old guitar at that point. She has a VERY distinctive non flame patch behind the volume & tone controls.
@@harryw9598 He was using it back then. Some of the last years though, I think
@@harryw9598 It's the one and only
I threw these lyrics at some chick in an Atalanta bar in 1982. She slapped the shit out of me but I thanks Billy G for the experience. Joe the Vet.
TheVeteransNetwork awwww. She should’ve took you up on your offer!!!
Great quality thank you very much!
Saw them in Vegas for first time in 1983 Eliminator tour.. we were 16
