52:55 noooo, the star is upside down Thank you for the practical guide. I've had this model for years but never put it together. This video is encouraging.
haha I was thinking that all the way. I always thought, let me recheck from pictures, somehow it looks strange to me an. And yeah like you said he did it up side down
Thanks for this very informative video. I'm 60 yrs old and haven't built a model in 50 years. I'm looking for a relaxing hobby since I can't do alot of my outdoor hobbies anymore. I'm starting an Itareti 1:35 Commando Car no. 320 tomorrow. Hopefully I won't lose, break or glue too many pieces to myself. I appreciate the time you took to explain in simple terms for us new guys.
Neat build! Although I've been modeling a long time it's always fun to watch a really talented person do one. Only thing I can add is watch putting on the white stars on U.S. vehicles. The star goes with the point straight up on the sides and with the point facing back towards the driver when viewing facing the vehicle from the front. Had that pointed out to me by a W.W.II vet who was looking at an old effort of mine!
Even though this video is geared towards beginners. This video provides some excellent tips and tricks that seasoned modellers ( like me ) can add to their repertoire. Enjoy watching your builds as usual.
The Tamiya Jeep is a thing of beauty. The one shown here, and the SAS version kit has greatness as well. And the 48th scale kit is identically fun too by the way. Just smaller. And they pair up with some really nice non combat setting figures.
Excellent video! The amount of detail is just perfect and gives my kind of returning model builder many tips how to do things to ease up the building and painting process. As a cherry to the cake from 58:15 onwards...back to the 90's! 😀
I have been wanting to get this for my first kit. I am used to building model rockets. But the thing for me is being able to have All the proper paints and glues and stuff.
I built this one and the Italeri version side by side, both very easy and very detailed but i'd say the Tamiya one was the better one to build, although the Italeri Jeep came with a trailer.
Great video. I mainly use the Vallejo air paints and i use Vallejo grey primer without a problem. I've never done an oil based paint wash. Just wondering will I need to matt varnish the Vallejo air paint to stop the oil based wash from effecting it. Thanks for the tips
‘’Don’t need to take it in the bath with you to clean it …’’ LOL 😂 I really enjoy watching this video. Your approach of modeling, tricks & tips is very helpful
I had done this kit before. This model had some tricky parts assy and need some attention in to detail ie. tiny wind shield washer motor, a right position of Thomson's gun, rear view mirror, machine gun ammunition box...
great sir, I once had similar Willys Jeep kit like that made by domestic firm of my country which copied from the Tamiya product,it contains decals, adhesive, instruction besides product in there, btw why don't you setup machine gun in middle inside of the car😁
I can only repeat what others say, immensely beneficial video for beginners like me. Just a qq: do I understand correctly that you don't varnish the vehicle before starting the weathering process with the oil paint?
I have long had the desire to make this Willy Jeep, but something larger than 1/35 scale such as 1/18 or 1/15 🤗 and I looked in many hobby shops and 🤔could not find a Willy Jeep until a week ago I bought the 1/35 Jeep😀and to make it larger won't be easy by looking in this model 1/35 now that I have purchased and I looked at the pieces in this kit 🧐and also watched this video here on Facebook and with all that painting ! I'm a bit hesitant to make it and even the 1/35 model itself ! 😒
Extremely good video I'm just getting back into modeling and I'm doing this jeep. What I saw were bits were bits should be and couldn't find that in the instructions. What's a POM doing in Russia? Anyway I'm trying to get the misses involved but that would include her seeing my other debt card so Ill just hang on that one.
@@TheBearScaleModels Thx; I am returning to the hobby after a long absence and learning about the newer tools and techniques; I still have a large and healthy supply of enamels paints, but also considering some Acrylics...
Im new to the hobby so here comes a stupid question 😅 So the tamiya ultrathin will stick to a painted area? I have been gluing as much parts before painting and the rest with superglue. I glued to much stuff on my mathilda tank and realised it got hard to get the paint in some of the areas. Really good tutorial 🍻
In my experience, it doesn't. I have used many of those disposable cups for mixing. My model painting is probably 95%+ Tamiya acrylic and the cups have never melted or interacted with the paint. Perhaps the plastic composition is different with cups sold in the UK vs. U.S. where I reside?
RE-UPLOADED BECAUSE OF COPYRIGHT STUFF
What crapyright stuff? Damn... :(
@@ziel4sz it was the background tune I used in the video although royalty free... happens a lot but it was easy to fix.

We can all use a "REFRESHER", been building for most of 50 years, enjoy these "BASIC", videos as much as the "TECHNICAL" ones!!!!!!!

Uno dei migliori video per capire tante cose in un colpo solo e poi spieghi veramente in modo semplice e chiaro.
Some great advice I'll use . Problem with TH-cam is being bombarded with techniques .
Thanks for this VERY detailed mounting process. For me, a beginner, it's wonderful and a great stimulus 👊
Nice build. Very beginner friendly instructions. Really good at that showing that basic weathering techniques can do wonders. Thank you, Bear.
Big thank you !very welcome glad you enjoyed. Planning an intermediate style weathering tutorial soon !
Thanks Bear, subbed. I am new to modeling and just learning to cement properly shows how bad I was with my old Testors LOL

Such an incredible video and tutorial!Thank you!
This video, makes me want to do a "RAT PATROL" diarama! Dont usually do military, this is a cool kit!!
That is what I thought to do Rat Patrol diorama 👍
The interior looks complex. Nice work with the 2 tone scheme.
Outstanding. Thank you.

I didn't think you cou!d use tamiya glue when joining painted parts .
Excellent WW2 willy
Great video, easy & detailed. Love it.👍
7:50 That reminds me of that scene in Force 10 from Navarone. I had no idea it was a common practice!
Yes a very real thing. Even modern vehicles are equipped with the wire cutter device in some cases... check USA striker and UK jackal

Very good video, excelent the explain of tecnics apllyed in the model. Looks TOP , greetings from Portugal 😉👋
Would you normally use a less abrasive sanding stick, this one leaves a lot of gouges.
Bravo
I can only repeat what others say, immensely beneficial video for beginners like me. Just a qq: do I understand correctly that you don't varnish the vehicle before starting the weathering process with the oil paint?
Really appreciated! Yes no varnish required whatsoever... unless you encounter problems with the paint being reflective or patchy
Awesome! I will give it a go over the weekend as I am close to finishing my first armour since 2004 :)
These are the kind of Tamiya kits that you can apply the classic phrase: “put inside the glue and the paints and them shake all
The kit is ready” 😉

Really glad if this was useful to you ! Big thanks. We have online model club via patreon if you are interested.
What size silver paint pen are you using? 1mm, 2mm?
Thank you for sharing; If we have the purchase choice, for Acrylic Brush Painting, may you recommend the "air" versions or the "standard" versions?
I use both ! the advantage with Vallejo air is that it brush paints straight from the bottle no thinning required.

So its ok to use Tamiya extra thin to glue painted parts together?
Yes you can! just use some care
@@TheBearScaleModels thanks! Great video!
No clear coats / varnishes here used?
Correct ! Not required and not used.
If the tamiya paints melt the plastic cup why does it not melt the plastic kit?
plunge your kit in a bottle of lacquer thinner, leave it overnight... and get back to me !?
In my experience, it doesn't. I have used many of those disposable cups for mixing. My model painting is probably 95%+ Tamiya acrylic and the cups have never melted or interacted with the paint. Perhaps the plastic composition is different with cups sold in the UK vs. U.S. where I reside?
What scale is this ?
1/35
My very first kit was from Dragon Models LTD. Willy's Jeep and Kubelwagon in 1/6th scale!! These are way too small.
Please turn down the the music.
