Would transferring from the Army to the Air Force qualify me to retrain into this MOS? Or would I have to transfer to the Air Force, choose a new mos, and then retrain?
I'm working to try and cross train into this right now. Already passed my EDPT and scored a 98 overall on the ASVAB. Is there anyone specific that helps with the recruitment into this AFSC? I'm currently a 2A6 and they aren't letting many people out of this AFSC but I know my skills would be better suited for this career field.
Read somewhere in the internet that in 2019 they started choosing people for Cyber Transport tech school to transition into Cyber Warfare pipeline. Is this true?? What are the requierements to be selected? Can anyone confirm this info. Please and thank you. Btw great video/info.
Yes. During cyber transport tech school if you show a high aptitude you can be selected to switch over from cyber trans to 1B after graduating. You can get recommended by one of your instructors or you can inquire about it and they will look into you. Basically get 100s on all your exams and there are a lot. And score high on the security plus exam.
Ypu said it's retrain only. If you could go back and pick any AFSC (enlisted job) you wanted. What AFSC would better prepare you for Cyber Warfare Ops and look better to be accepted into Cyber Warfare Ops? Great info and thank you if you do find the time to respond.
Hi sir, and thank you for your for answering questions regarding Cyber security. I'm actually about to enlist into the Air Force after graduating with my BSS from college already. I want to join not just to protect the country that I love, but because I want to get the hands on experience that most colleges dont give us regarding Cyber. The job I'm looking at is the current Cyber System Operations (I believe it's 3D0x2, not sure)My recruiter said I can definately get it going in the military for the first time. I took the Cyber Test at MEPS and passed it. With my degree and test already passed, is it enough or do I have to pick a different job first before gaining access to this MOS job? Any additional tips will help please?
I wonder if this is still retrain only because my recruiter just listed this as one of my options for me. I had to take an Electronic Data Processing Test? And passed high enough to apply for this one. I would love to aim for offensive and work my way up if I can go in as a new recruit Either way I'm aiming cyber route, I just am trying to figure out what to expect at kessler. I heard about the sec+ stuff but Idk what else to expect...
I wonder the same thing, maybe it is different now. I also wonder if I'll end up seeing you lol, that'd be funny. From what I hear, security plus is pretty difficult, so if I were you I'd look at some comptia study material in advance. TestOut is a decent study tool, helped me get the A+ cert.
AWESOME 👏🏽 video man it helped get some insight on some questions I had. But I would like to go more in depth on an important topic .And I apologize for this long comment. But I had one question that’s actually really similar to your situation where you were deciding between cyber/computer science or EOD. Currently I’m a senior in college earning my BS in computer science, and I am really looking forward towards serving in the Air Force because I believe the military is a great way to get a start on my life plus I want to contribute to something. Essentially, I looked into the jobs in the Air Force concerning cyber security ,and I could use my degree to possibly enter as an officer. But also I was looking into TACP , and when I watched your video I immediately could relate to your younger self because I would like to know what to do after college. Personally I am considering between these two even though they are both different. I was thinking about these two, and the cyber job allows me to put my degree to work and it could be a greater and better impact and that’s my thought process using logic. But using my heart and gut something about using my physical body to do an awesome job in TACP really captures my interest because despite my short height I consider myself an amateur athlete because I workout constantly and play sports and TACP allows me to push my limits because I want to challenge myself to see how far I can go and what I’m made of. I want to not only contribute to something huge but also gain skills that I can use after the military and translate it to civilian life to get a career going. The cyber job seems the logical way because I can use those skills after service and I do love technology. TACP is really only combat oriented and not much can be used in civilian jobs, since that what other service men have said, but something about it sort of calls to me. And so what I would like to know is your thought process on how you chose between a job in cyber security or an EOD tech. I want to make sure I am following a path where I can be successful, and also I want to know that my passions are true and that I’m not falling for the “become a badass” marketing to be a soldier in the battlefield as a TACP. To summarize how did you decide between cyber security or EOD?
Simply put 1N4X1A are network analysts, main tasking to produce technical and operations briefings, the A shred (1N4X1A) goes through JCAC where you get a crash course in networking and how to analyze it, where as the B shred (1N4X1B) does not attend JCAC. A shred is slightly more technical with regards to being on keyboard but 1B4X1's pipeline is much more so on keyboard and goes more in depth. 1Bs have their own course rather than attend JCAC. Though this is not to say that 1N4X1A aren't sometimes tasked in 1B positions. If you were to compare the Army 17C or the Navy CTN to the Air Force, they would more directly line up with a 1N4X1A with regards to training as they all go through JCAC. But in terms of actual job a 1B would probably line up more.

Gaining your CCNA isn't necessary, but will that help you? Yes, that will hands down help you to cover a lot of the basics, but to be honest that is overkill. If you were to get your CCNA and enter the 1B pipeline, you will definitely have a leg up as Networking, routing and switching configuration is a rough area of study for most. But again that is up to you, CCNA isn't a quick study and again isn't necessary as was mentioned. The fact that you are in a 3D slot is a big advantage to you as the 1B pipeline takes in large part from 3Ds and 1Ns, especially since you are going to gain your Sec + through your current pipeline. You shouldn't have a problem with getting picked up but first thing first, pass the EDPT.

In fact not too long ago the career field (1B4X1) was taking primarily from 3D or 1N (Intelligence) career fields. 3D0X2 deals with Servers, knowing the sys Admin side, and that knowledge is definitely a component of 1B and a big asset.
