I remember stopping at an eatery in Middletown with a wall dedicated to the Valley Fire, and a newspaper article about it on the wall. Having just come from fishing Clear Lake, that TB connection was all the more potent.
Not quite as cool, but it's still a great show of character... I lived in Magalia when the Camp Fire came through in 2018. I wasn't at the specific event, but many of my neighbors were and met the guys from the channel with nothing but great things to say. They came out and donated their time and gear to the people who had lost theirs in the fire.
Dude the timing of this video is nuts. Was out on the lake yesterday, tried all sorts of baitfish patterns and moving baits- nothing. After a few hours I switched to a small T-rig w/beaver style bait and flipped steep banks where the shallow dropped off to 50ft and started catching a lot of fish around 1-2bs. I then started throwing a football jig and immediately started catching bigger bites. Like a 5lber on the first cast. You guys always talk about this stuff but for the first time it actually worked for me and I was so thrilled to put a pattern together. I got back to the ramp and everyone talked about how slow the bite was but I was able to find the productive pattern of the day and have the best day of fall fishing I’ve ever had!
I fish at night a lot since its still pretty hot here. Chatterbait and spinnerbait are my go to rigs, but after watching this I decided to throw a black and blue jig. After about 10 casts I finally get a THUMP! Reeled down and jacked a solid 3 pounder, which is good for my city pond. Thanks Tim!
Truly is amazing to be able to count on an rely on you gies for constant new information …. Really got into watching your gies stuff this spring an have learned more this year an cought more this year than ever before …. Keep ‘em comin boyz
I've been use the big bites swim craw tube on my jigs in Starting in September, october use green pumpkin color or the color called confusion. Absolute bass catcher
Very informative jig video. Jigs are a favorite of mine. I fish them all year. I believe a crawfish is a special treat for a bass. I have caught bass with shad in their mouth but couldn't resist the jig. Thanks for sharing the excellent coverage of Jigs.
How’d you manage to make this video? You had to kidnap Matt while you made this and uploaded it 😂😂 great video none the less! Hopefully I get out to a fishery that is not coated with slime on the bottom so I can use a jig some!
This is the one category that I have no confidence with. Mind you when I do catch them on a jig, it’s such a thrill to jack them with that jig hook. Most times I reach for the Texas rig if I’m bottom fishing! Not sure how to build confidence when using jigs.
throw it till your hands bleed. you'll catch one then get some clues what your fish want. also, treat jig fishing like turkey hunting: ie, you are going for one biggun.
all summer long I fished a jig & eventually learned & started catching some big ones on them. keep at it & they'll soon become a confidence bait + helps with with other techniques.
Don’t just drag the jig. Try moving it with small quick pops then reel up the slack. If you watch Tim’s rod I think he’s doing this a lot. If you feel a bite then do a slow drag like pull to check for a fish and if so, set the hook. Anyways this works for me. Good luck to you.
After 8 years of taking this hobby seriously, I fiiiiiiiiiiinally caught a couple on a jig this past summer. It was by stroking a jig, ironically via Matt’s latest jig video. It’s incredibly rewarding when you finally do catch your first jig fish. Keep at it! I had to literally only bring one or two rods rigged with a jig and leave all other lures at home, forcing myself to use a jig. Again, keep at it, you got this!
Just keep at it. Fish them with the confidence you’d have throwing a texas rig and it’ll eventually happen. Not every day I can get a jig bite going, and really, the biggest thing I’ve noticed is that fish in certain lakes and bodies of water love jigs, and others don’t. I have a few places I fish where I always have a jig tied on and it’s almost always the most productive bait. The other places, I don’t even consider tying one on. Same with cranks, too.
I went from not catching them on a jig to it becoming my go to over the last 2 years. When it clicked it CLICKED... Take only jigs until you start catching them man... you'll get em
What type of Jig would you suggest for those of us who don’t have a boat and can only fish from the bank? Seems to me that it would be harder to pitch/flip while standing on land next to brush or trees. We are better off trying to cast a Jig out further.
I primarily fish from the bank n one of my most consistent/confidence baits is a quarter ounce finesse jig. Im up in MN so i primarily throw a bluegill imitation. Depending in the mood of the fish u can drag it on the bottom, slowly hop it along, or stroke it and get reaction strikes. One of the most rewarding bites but takes a while to get the hang of
Appreciate your reply and info. I have quite a few of 1/4oz Finesse Jigs I can try. My 3/8oz and 1/2oz Jigs are football style and I cast them out and drag/hop them across the bottom. I agree with you that it is satisfying when you get that bite and set the hook. Fun times. I was just wondering if there was a better style Jig to use and your suggestion on using a Finesse Jig is what I will try.
They did a bank fishing video and if I'm not mistaken mentioned jigs. A little lighter helps you not get hung if you've got rocks, a little shorter rod helps you make accurate cast in and around overhanging tress.
If you really want to change it up throwing a jig, try the Tightrope Fireworks jigs- they're tiny, but they have a heavier wire hook than most smaller jigs, and they use rubber skirts that are shorter and tied such that they really puff out- that's why they're called the firework jig. I use either a baby paca craw, a Roboworm TRD, or an Eerie Darter which are made by this smaller plastics company but- they really work well. But whatever your favorite jig trailer is, just get the smallest version and it will probably work fine. Smallies absolutely destroy them I hear but I use them for spotted bass- and they really work well. I get far more bites than I do throwing a standard jig or even a compact pitching jig. Especially right now- the bait fish are small- the jig is small- it works. I've even pitched into schooling bass- because I was in ap[inch and didn't have time to grab a topwater- but they hit it anyway. I just threw it out and retrieved it as high up in the column as I could, as fast as I could- and they nailed it. I think they would probably hit an empty hook if you could cast it far enough to get it in there when they're busting the surface like that. Not always- I've had days where they wouldn't touch anything I threw in there but- most of the time they hit anything that's shiny and moving. Ppl say if you'll throw like a big spoon the smaller ones can't eat that on the bottom the bigger bass are hanging out waiting for shad to fall down and they'll hit it- but I can't bring myself to pass up the easy target to try it. It's so much fun following them around and catching numbers, that I usually just do that. It's also unbelievably frustrating when they're doing that but won't hit your bait- but like I said, that's rare in my experience.
Tim is awesome... He saved people in a wildfire in California years back.
I didn't know that. Makes me like him even more.

Love the close up shots at 8:30. Much better than just holding a jig up close to the camera.
I wish I had the time to put all the great advice you guys give out into use. Thanks for all the information
Seriously! The two friends I go used to boat fishing with had a Champ and Skeeter. Seeing those bows in the older videos is so cathartic!
Thanks!
Jig fishing is by far my confidence bait . Something about a well placed jig and a hard thump from a monster just gets you going 😅

Love the Canterbury flipping jig. Started using it thanks to a video y’all did a few years ago, favorite one by far. Got my pb on it last spring!
Tim, you put the Xtacy in the description but didn’t talk about it. We want to hear about the high end Dobyns!!
Have played with the Keitech football with some success. Glad to see you all cover the micro jigs.
I love fishing a jig thanks for the great info

I appreciate y’all mentioning Dale Hollow. I live in between Dale and Lake Cumberland. As a new angler I struggle from time to time.

A single wire brush guard football head is really good for Hula grubs. Decent hook up rate on finicky bass. Great video. Great channel !
Strike king, bitsy bug with a zoom Tiny chunk is hard to beat in late October through the December for me
This video came at a perfect time. Ready to go get on em today!
Love a jig fishing! One of my favorite bites
One of the best tricks i found for football jigs is to shake the rod left to right to break free a hung up ! 🤑🎉

Is there a rough water temp that you'd switch from a kicking trailer to a do nothing trailer?
Have yall tried the gray yatomo jig? 1/2- 5/8 with a very small hook in it. Tackle outlet in Valdosta Ga has them on sale for 1.50 a piece.
Thanks bro
I usually have 2-3 poles with different jigs rigged up at any given time in my boat. Best bait out there imo
Hey, do you guys recommend the Levante Braillist? Or is there a similar rod in that price range that does the job better?
Is the bitsy bug from strike king a good option ?
Need to have more bank fishing vids. A lot of stuff you guys show don’t really apply to bank fishing
This is the one category that I have no confidence with.

Any suggestions for jigs clear water rivers
Truely the only way i haven't caught a fish on. Ive put trailers ive tried all different types of jigs .

should i use a 7"3 heavy for a flipping jig?
I've gone smaller and getting more hits. Mini over the regular size everything. In 1/8 ounce jig's with 3" and small trailers.
What about the MegaBass Dark Sleeper for the Sleeper Craw or finesse jigs?
Thats a fantastic option! My brain struggles to do anything besides throw a Dark Sleeper on the Dark Sleeper... but every time I try it does great!
I truly believe that a jig is the one bait they're always biting.
It's the only bait I always have rigged, and it catches all year
Getting jiggy with it.
I like the superimposed closeups.

Yep! Now that you mentioned it, I do remember a bank fishing video a couple of months back. I’ll have to rewatch it. Thanks again for the help.
what size line are you fishing on these different jigs
who here hates the new Tacklewarehouse rod format?
Love this
Saying the 844 MBR rods are best for micro jigs is silly. The 844 is a bad ass 3/8 and 1/2oz full size bass jig rod.
I was thinking the same thing! At least thats what I’m growing on mine.

I fished Clark’s hill today and feel like I should have been throwing a jig on the points
What about the swimjig??
Y'all need to talk Dirty Jigs into making a No Jack Football Head jig 😁👍
👍🎣
How did I mis this video?!
As far as I’m concerned, no jig will ever do what a punching set up will do
Juist in time
Dirty Jigs have down graded their paint and the skirts are not hand tied. Hard to pay almost six dollars for one.
Jigs get big bites without needing to increase size
I am just not a jig fisherman. I want to like them, but I just can’t. There isn’t a jig that I’ve tied on that I haven’t lost. 🤣
Palomar, trilene, or Palomar uni knots... Specific jigs for specific situations
k? 😂
Need to shorten your videos. Simple it down.
Thanks!
