Great video with really good information. I have made my shopping list and with my calculations this video will about $350 in new tackle! Looking forward to the next one.
caught a pretty nice Smallie today on the buzz bait, I am still somewhat new to fishing and let me tell you, your channel has taught me a lot and I really appreciate it, thank you for everything you do to help new fishers get out there and start catching some fish.
Thanks for this video man! Top water is absolutely my favorite way to catch them but so far im only confident with straight retrieve baits like the plopper and id love to master them all!
Did you miss a whole category on purpose? , or did it just slip your mind. Floating minnow twitch baits. I am also undecided what category lures like the jitterbug and crazy crawler would fit in.
What a killer video dude! I do have a question for you though, ever notice how some baits have split rings at the line tie and some don't why do you think that is? Me personally I put a split ring on every bait that I can make walk. In my opinion it makes the bait way easier to get walking especially on frogs. My favorite top water bait is by far a chug bug just because I can do everything with it and fish usually eat it pretty good. Another thing, with the split ring on it you don't get the line tangled in the hooks as often even with straight braid. A split ring also works really really good on a fluke too.
Clunn would fish the Rico on 20lb line at a fast pace and absolutely smash them . Had a recent trip to a pond here in South Africa where the pattern was a Zara fished very close to the shore in Channel between bank and grass line . Fished very slow for a short distance and killed for a minute or two . They would just come up and smash it just sitting there . Threw a Plopper a bit and had a Large bass hit and miss it twice . My buddy followed up with a D shad and caught the biggest fish of the trip .
Riddle me this, well i'll share something i picked up with the plopper when i was fishing the boundary waters for smallies in minnesota... they would eat the plopper in only 2 ways (they also preferred the 90) BUT a slow retrieve they'd hit it here and there... now fishing it like a popper over a boulder they would absolutely HAMMER it, id just pop it slow or even in quick succession... let it sit... after about 2 seconds slow retrieve just to get the prop going and BAM... hope this helps when literally they wouldnt eat anything else on top that was the deal
What I love about the Zoom H Toad is the MASSIVE bubble trail it leaves. I also wanted to add that Z-Man has some toads that have a very big advantage because they float if you have them on a non-weighted hook. The disadvantage is they often seem to run upside down, but in my experience all toads do this... which doesn't seem to be a problem. But I am curious if anyone else has some input on whether the hook up ratio is affected when a toad is running upside down.
I’m an avid horny toad user and to combat that I use a weighted swim bait hook with a belly weight very light one VMC makes some that are perfect for toad fishing
Using the area you fished with the island in the middle: do you go around the whole area once with the same bait and if you don't get a bite move on or do you go back through with a new bait? Without using electronics, not KNOWING if there's actually fish in there, how do you know if there's no fish or they just don't like that lure/bait/presentation?
My favorite time to fish a Whopper Plopper is a foggy Fall morning when me and my dad are the only the ones at the dock
Just caught my first fish on a popper literally 2 hours ago. Perfect timing with this vid

@@fishingwithmikeg thanks, I’ll have to get some on the next tackle order! Do you use the Zoom toads or something else
Would you recommend soft split rings for ploppers?
Ploppers weren't heard by bass till the whopper?😂😂😂😂😂 musky baits been doing that for decades
Tyler do you thumb hookset with trebles?

What size buzz bait would you recommend in cold water?
Hey, Tyler, my Finn Fishing sun shirt started coming apart at the seams. Is there a warranty? I was surprised since they’re American-made.
Excellent
What reel are you using 58:48 ?
Bruin Outdoors Paul Elias Legend Series Reels
I have zero confidence fishing topwater. Should be a good video 👍👍
no prop baits to show?
We need an example of a prop bait!!! Did you mean spy bait or we still talking plopper and buzzbait? HELP!!!! 😂
Lunker hunt makes a top water prop frog that has propeller style feet, never did get a bite on that bait now that I'm thinking about it.
He said it in the video!
No a prop bait floats, spy bait doesn’t. Devil horse, boy howdy, torpedo all prop baits
@GR8smallie_angler he "said it" I was asking for an example my guy.
@@RevelsGang ok ok my bad. I was just trying to help you out
