@orangedac Believe it or not, what you see in my videos is only a window into my diet. I don't eat this kind of stuff all the time - and most of what I cook for TH-cam gets gobbled up by my friends and family ;) But thanks for your concern...
I just made this! I had to figure out the butter measurements because I'm in America, but that was easy enough. We can buy lemon curd around here, and it's very good, but I thought I'd give this a try to compare the two. The homemade stuff is definitely better! Thank you for posting this!
@creamcandy25 You might be able to make Orange Curd or Lime Curd - but this is really a citrus-based recipe. It won't really work with other types of fruit ;)
Such a lovely recipe! And the fact that you only have to cook it for ten-fiftheen minutes is amazing! I tried another recipe once and it literally took an hour for the mass to cook down to the right consistency!
I really appreciate you adding I can use the bottled lemon juice. So many tutorial/recipes want fresh lemons and never mention bottled lemon juice. Thanks for the video!
@digit432 You need to keep stirring - the butter will float to the top, that's why you must keep stirring. Did you do the stovetop or microwave version?
@digit432 You need to keep stirring - the butter will float to the top, and then melt. That's why you must keep stirring. Did you do the stovetop or microwave version?
@Farlachan You need to use citrus fruit for this recipe to work. The acid in the juice makes the whole this work. So it's lemons, limes or maybe oranges - but Lemon works best :)
@pointeskatecybunny Use whole egg. This recipe makes about 2 cups of Lemon Curd. There is no need to cook it longer, as the curd will thick on cooling. Just follow the instructions ;)
@OnePotChefShow Thank you for this reply - I was hoping to use lemon curd as a cake filling for my Grandmother's 80th birthday... Now that I know I can, I can't wait to try this recipe!
I have always wondered about how this is made. It is so yummy. Put it in small glass jars with homemade decorative labels and you would have great gifts for family or friends.
I like to use a bain marie (pot in pot with water in it) for my lemon curd, there by avoiding the whole scary glass bowl thing. Fantastic idea with the cold water and I must try the microwave idea when I have my next impromptu tea party. Lovely!
excellent! We are subscribing! thanks. I have always wanted to know how to make lemon curd - now that' we've found you, we are checking out all your other wonderful recipes!
@simpsiano123 In a way, yes. when something curdles it means that you've let the mixture heat up too much and the mixture gets clumpy and starts to get really thick, it starts to turn into a solid rather than staying in liquid form...
i remember making this at school years ago lol.. and i forgot all about it and how to make it but thanks to you i remember.. so last night not long after you posted this vid i had to try and and it was really nice but i added it into old jam jars i had left.. well anyway thank you so much for this vid its nice to do home made stuff its cheaper and at lest we know whats being adding into it... Thanks!!!
Looks so good and easy I’m going to try it one question can you put the butter in glass jars or like you did in a plastic container? Thank you from Australia
@flyerdude02 I've never done the mixture, but I have made Pineapple curd before and it comes out really well. It works best with sour fruits because of the sugar content, something like oranges would be cloyingly sweet due to the sweetness of the orange added to the sweetness of the sugar.
Caster sugar is known in the United States as superfine sugar. The name means that in the old days when they had the sugar Caster it was like a very large salt shaker the pieces with small enough to be shaking on to things like cereal Etc.
When I got back from living in the UK for so long I ordered two jars 11 oz each of a UK brand lemon curd that I knew had eggs and butter in it period within 24 hours I had just drunk both jars! May sound gross but it was done a mouthful at a time and then oh I'll just have a little bit more until the next afternoon they were gone. Now I make my own. And it stays in the refrigerator not next to me in this console loveseat with the cup holders in the middle and the space and everything no no! It stays in the fridge and half the time I forget about it.

But thanks for your concern...
Queensland, Australia This is the BEST, EASIEST & most ECONOMICAL recipe for Lemon Curd. ❤ your style. Thank you so much ❤❤
@quirkyQLDfamily Use it like you would Jam - put it on scones, use it on toast/sandwiches or use it as a filling for a pie or cake :)

Thank you... you have a very nice voice and encouraging style. Am going to try this with each different variety of lemon in Fiji!
I love this stuff. I buy a jar every month. Now I might make it.
@KarinElegance As I said in the video, use it on toast, sandwiches or as the filling for a Lemon Meringue Pie ;)
@creamcandy25 You might be able to make Orange Curd or Lime Curd - but this is really a citrus-based recipe. It won't really work with other types of fruit ;)
@cupcakelovable Actually I'm Australian - but I'm glad you enjoy my recipes ;)
Oh, how I love Lemon Curd. In England I used to spread it on toast all the time. Thank you
Such a lovely recipe! And the fact that you only have to cook it for ten-fiftheen minutes is amazing! I tried another recipe once and it literally took an hour for the mass to cook down to the right consistency!
@lhadyviolet11 Sure you can request something - if it's something I like I might make a video of it ;)
@Pvjungco No, do not use a metal bowl for this, as the lemon juice can react with metal bowls.
This guy is great.. i love his recipes
Anything with lemon is wonderful. Love your family recipes
@SaiE8 No it was 3 whole eggs (lightly beaten) - the yolks are usually fairly orange - maybe Australian chickens eat lots of carrots or something LOL
This guy is fantastic!
I really appreciate you adding I can use the bottled lemon juice. So many tutorial/recipes want fresh lemons and never mention bottled lemon juice. Thanks for the video!
@9aspengold5 It's wonderful on toast first thing in the morning - a nice fresh citrus zing to start your day :)
This recipe is JUST what i need! Just a quick question: Will regular sugar work, or will it be too ruff? :)
You sir are amazing!!! Love, love, love your recipes.....❤️💕❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🙏🙏🙏
yes its so good
I made a bottle of lemon butter for my daughter and she loved it so much she ate the whole bottle in one sitting.
Heidi Feldman lol it’s what shown in the video haha :)
@digit432 Yes - once you start stirring, you must keep stirring until all the ingredients have combined and the curd has thickened ;)
@TheVittleVlog Thanks - I'm glad you liked it :)
This sounds amazing, I love the taste of lemon.
Absolutely love you David.
@digit432 You need to keep stirring - the butter will float to the top, that's why you must keep stirring.
Did you do the stovetop or microwave version?
Such a simple, yet delicious recipe. Another winner!

@yedon68 Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
@MubarakBalboa Yes, but unsalted is best when making something that is sweet ;)
I admire your passion for food so much! Love your vids!!

OMGosh .. Looks sooooo YUMMYYY. My mouth is getting all watery just thinking about the tartness. Yummy
Have you ever done a lime curd? If so, what would be the lime juice amount considering it is more acidy? I have oodles of limes.
@SaiE8 They have orange yolks ;)
I have always wondered about how this is made. It is so yummy. Put it in small glass jars with homemade decorative labels and you would have great gifts for family or friends.

@Irinandify Absolutely - Lemon Curd makes a great ice cream topping :)
That looks delicious! Love lemon curd (lemon flavoured things in general are yum) and will be giving this a go.
I love this mixed half and half with plain yoghurt
That would be great for a Victorian sponge cake!!! I bet home made is so much better.

arhh looks soo lovely thanks, im gonna try and make this
The one thing missing is the zest of one lemon. Makes all the difference to that zingy taste. Also use a metal container to avoid damage to the glass.
Stir a bit into some plain or vanilla yogurt, YUM
I love your family´s recipes!! :D
Looks really good!
is this sticky enough for jam drop cookies filling ?
@OnePotChefShow just made it like 2 hours ago it well lush gonna put it on my toast in the morning lol
Brilliant!

Hey david! just wondering, since i am not a fan of lemon, can i substitute with another type of fruit? say, strawberries or mango?
