It seems to me that a lot of makeup techniques these days are being utilised from Drag and theatrics just so it can stand out on camera. There's a lot of techniques I've tried which don't seem to work irl - the only time I'm okay with being caked in makeup is for cosplay
And that's what I do love about Robert. A lot of his complaints with "techniques" going around on TikTok are that they just don't work that way or look that way in real life. It's so nice to get that sort of insight into what's something you just need to practice to do well and what will never look good irl no matter how skilled the person doing it is
The overlined lip was crazy, but the color was gorgeous!

The TikTok concealer trick for the lipstick is just reminding me of the dark days of foundation lips from the mid/late 2000s. I’m waiting for the orange face with the harsh neckline to make a return as well

I don't understand why people don't accentuate their cupids bow instead of cutting it off like a Bratz doll. It doesn't look good because you can still see the cupids bow anyway because it catches the light.

I have small porcelain doll lips and I do a mixture. I over draw my lips just a little while making sure I draw over my cupid's bow so it doesn't look like crazy clown lips and you make sure to show my lovely cupid's bow.. Hopefully I made sense knowing I am terrible with expiations. 🌈🤗💋

I hate the micellar water “hack” because it makes no sense. It doesn’t create clean lines at all… I’ll always just use my eye primer.

It works for me just fine. In fact, I can’t do clean lines otherwise.
I always find the eyeshadow mixes with my primer/concealer though /: I use makeup wipes now but tbh I just avoid it altogether

Makes me feel better that I didn’t start doing the micellar water “hack”. I always just used an opaque eyeshadow primer and it works perfectly fine, like you said

I don’t like the micellar water hack because it’s still a form of cleanser and if I left that on my eyelids without washing it off every time I’d get eczema/dermatitis or just very dry eyelids x

omg is thiss why ive had super dry eyelids?? ive been taking off my makeup with micellar water every night and tbh im depressed so 5/7 nights of the week i dont rinse it off after.... omg this makes..... so much sense. the timeline adds up exactly
@@daphnesullivan2107 the latter is more likely. If you sleep in your makeup that cause dead skin buildup. Any form cleansing strips skin. Micelles don’t really strip the skin but they don’t cleanse either. Contact dermatitis can happen with any product just depends on allergies and frequency of use. 💕

I was doing the same in the depths of my depression, makeup wipes were my bestie (before I knew how awful they were for environment, I still have a pack on hand for when I need it). But yeah it’s possible it’s causing that situation with your eyelids, I have crappy insurance and was able to find a dermatologist who helped me with my dermatitis, If you’re able to I suggest doing the same bc the eyes are sensitive area.
I envisioned people new to this channel seeing 9:30 as their first experience with your makeup application and had to laugh. That weird coloring on the cupid's bow was the best.
That lipstick application had me howling! I had to go back to hear what he was saying -- I just kept laughing & saying "Oh NO!!!"

Right! The ones who overline their lips, it's obvious to everyone where their actual biplane is. and it makes lips look worse if they would just follow their natural lips
Omg I hate the mascara hack too, it gave the worst clumpy lashes. Also, I don’t know why people suddenly hate their Cupid’s bow with all the overlining.

Micellar water not only removes the makeup, but it also adds an oily finish to the skin, which makes terribly difficult to apply sticky bases on the surface and seal them with powder makeup. This was one of the biggest mistakes I have done at the beginning of my career as a makeup artist. Thank you so much Robert for this lovely video 💖💕🌹
That concealer lip thing reminds me of the technique cosplayers sometimes do when they want to make themselves look more like a cartoon/anime character.
I actually really like how the micellar water darken the edge, it enhances the blend. I’ve never done it but it looks good on him

I was told about a mascara “hack” where you dip it in setting powder before you put it on to elongate the lash!! It made my eyes itch just thinking of it.

You amaze me Robert, even though you explain to us why and show is that these hacks don't work, you still make it work with your skill. As soon as you do a hack it somehow looks cool.
I learned so much from you when you do make up incorrectly, or when you critique it in your reaction videos! One suggestion, could you please do one side of your face next time using techniques that you would use instead. For a newbie like me, that would be so helpful!

I was made fun of my nose in my childhood,being told it was "sunken"(I have no idea what people meant by that still to this day).Now,people don't say anything,just stare at my face. I've learnt how to deal with the stares,just Flipping them off.

I’ve always loved this series
I struggle doing clean lines for a wing and I used to use the makeup wipe to clean up. It was terrible and just created more of a struggle. 🤦♀️ I'm getting better at a wing but sometimes, for me, it's better to just use a guide than to cut out a wing after the fact.
Amazon has packs of mascara wands with various shapes. They are relatively inexpensive, generally a pack is cheaper than a mascara. Once you find the wand you like, you can order packs of just that wand.

My best tip is to start the wing 1st from the corner of the eye and not care if they're 100% even

these are my fave
I used to do the underpainting blush with cream blush stick and tinted moisturiser. It worked perfectly fine, much better than what people are doing with LL and full coverage foundation.

I cannot stand overdrawing the lips!!!! OR drawing straight across the cupids bow when there's a defined arch. I think it looks ridiculous and it's so obvious!!! What's wrong with having an arched cupids bow?! I think it makes lips look beautiful and more natural.

Before you even mentioned, I was thinking that that lipstick blush had changed the colour of your foundation.
So you’d have to correct it, so you could’ve be put your blush on top realistically, which would be pointless.

I only do the rubbing the mascara wand back and forth because for some reason it coats my lashes better. And then I go in and apply it the old fashion way. I, of course dont glob it on like the trend says.
I hate using foundation or concealer on my lips so I actually do the ombre with the la girl lipliner in nude and it stays so much better. Also the ombre with the rare beauty lip souffles make is one of my fave, especially with Heroic or Daring
