Can’t wait to build my next pc with this board. Just built one with a 3080ti for around $3000 2 months ago. Gonna order this board and pull my GPU from my current one, should be a beast! 😈
Just got mine today super lucky! I wanted in the pc store seen boxes and asked if they had any good mobo and they showed me this mobo. Only thing I freaking need is ram.
I've seen many PC reviews that are saying the same thing. That is, if you want to get an RTX 3000 video card it's cheaper to buy a NEW pre-built PC. Same thing if you want a motherboard with Intel i9 12gen CPU, Z690, and DDR5 memory. Maybe ASUS should sell their boards with CCR5 memory preinstalled. Makes little sense to buy this motherboard when you can't get DDR5. I checked on eBay today and it's available. Yes, it is, between $1500 and $2000 for 32GB. I used to be able to build a very nice gaming PC for around $1500. Now, I can't even get the memory for that price. I guess Santa might as well stay at the North Pole this year.
Hello. I read a review where it states if a m.2 ssd is input in the first primary m.2 slot it cuts the primary pcie slot from 16x to 8x.. is this true ? V
Yes, I ended up using the second M.2 slot for this very reason. The second M.2 still has a direct connection to the CPU instead of going through the chipset. The first M.2 is PCIe 5.0 capable so I don’t see the need to go 8x on your GPU unless you have a PCIe 5.0 M.2 NVMe drive. I gotta get those extra 3-5 FPS in game out of my 3080 Ti 😂. Hope this helps.
In any case, I've got no more pci-e 8-pin connector available on my PSU so what if I use a SATA 6-pin connector available on my PSU and plug in a male to male cable instead? Will the SATA 6-pin connector deliver enough power? EDIT: I checked the tech specs on ASUS website and I missed the explaination of this 6-pin connector so Jeffry Fernando was right It's to deliver 60W to the internal USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connector for the front panel, otherwise it can only support 27W
I bought a new ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z690 EXTREME and my motherboard makes a high frequency sound from the very beggining till I power off. Doeas anyone face the same issue? I will DOA it ASAP.
Intel should make sure there are plenty of PCIe lane support, up to at least 28.. would like to see 40 myself.. 28 would give you x16, x8 and x4.. which would give you nothing left at all for the M.2 shared PCIe.. so 40 would be ideal..
And good luck finding a Z690 system. I want an Asus Maximus Hero Z690, an Intel 12900 processor, and 128 Gb DDR5. None to be found now...and my palms are itching!
