Seriously. Thank you for this! I deliver my keto baby in 2 days. I am 40 years old and this is my healthiest pregnancy out of 3- the other 2 being Standard American Diet.

Amazing! We are planning our 2nd one and I've had gestational diabetes at the end of my first pregnancy and really want to have a keto baby this time around.. Did you follow a plan, meal plan, guide or book in particular? Were you counting your macros to suit pregnancy etc? Your guide would be greatly appreciated. Xoxo congrats on your new baby xx

Progesterone levels should be mandatory for the first prenatal blood work too! Many women end up miscarrying due to just having low levels. Excellent information! Baby #11 was a nursed baby while I was on keto. Baby #12 was a keto pregnancy and now while nursing him (5 months) I've switched to carnivore. Sadly I was brainwashed for the first 10 to be on the SAD diet!! They are Paleo/Keto now though!!

Great video. I’m a mom of 7. I had gestational diabetes with the middle 3. Then I found low carb and had 3 more babies. 2 of them at home with midwives. I just got your book on audible. I’m loving it. My husband and I have been carnivore for 7 months and feel amazing. Thanks for all you do.

I am currently 17 weeks pregnant and I was keto before I got pregnant. I wish I had watch this before I got pregnant or during my first trimester because Ken gave some great ideas for food during that time of food aversion. I had very intense food aversion for about 8 weeks and I couldn't eat meat or veggies or fat so I ate organic grains which are still bad but at least not as bad. I probably could have eaten fish and the beef tartar, eggs smelled horrible to me so I couldn't eat those either. I put on about 20 lbs in my first trimester and I was worried but as soon as the nausea went away I went back to healthy keto and the weight gain stopped and I feel much better. In regards to exercise, I don't know how women are able to do intense exercise during pregnancy. During my first trimester I was so tired I felt like I had just run a marathon every minutes of every day. I slept for 9 hours a night and felt like I hadn't slept at all. the fatigue went away when hit week 14 but I still get tired faster than I did before I was pregnant (I was active before getting pregnant). I try to walk at least 30 minutes most days of the week but I have tried weight lifting and doing some shadow boxing and I get tired after 20 minutes and have to stop. I chose to listen to my body and exercise to level that I feel comfortable with but don't try and push it but don't remain inactive either (even though sleeping is something I would rather do that go for walk).

I have a theory that I think is worth looking into. I heard a doctor, who is an advocate of the keto diet say that the keto diet depletes a woman's progesterone stores. She believes that this is why some woman have a hard time with keto. She also suggests women eat "higher" carb the week before their cycle to help this. I have also heard that low progesterone is linked to miscarriage. So if this is all true, it leads me to believe that woman crave carbohydrate during the first trimester so they can keep progesterone high and increase their chance of a viable pregnancy.

GREAT discussion. I’m 31 Weeks with my fourth, and smallest/healthiest pregnancy, thanks to Keto. I’ve learned so much about Keto in these last few weeks, because of a family diagnosis of cancer. I had known about Keto, have been off and on it for years. But laziness always got the better of me.
Anyhoo, I’m on #4... and this will also be my fourth homebirth with the same midwife :)

Thank you for bringing up all the interventions done in the hospital. Also midwives do not do cervical exams which are less Reliable and increase risk of infection. All the monitoring increases the chance of more interventions. It also makes it more difficult for the woman in labor. A woman needs to be able to move around.

So glad my natural instinct (as soon as my body was able to of course after severe nausea and vomiting issues for much of my pregnancy) was to get back on low carb and stay under 100g net carbs everyday. I am usually slim, don't have GD, but have higher risk in my family for diabetes. I have noticed that most days I can accidentally stay under 50g but I give myself room for days when my body tells me I need more fruit or some ancient grains or ancient wheat like einkorn and khorasan/kamut. 100g is SO doable during pregnancy. I mainly focus on hitting my daily vitamin and mineral counts for the day through my food and I feel great, much improved.

Research says to eat 6 dates a day to have an easier birth with less complications. Is that a good study? That goes in contrast to eating low carb during pregnancy.

I know this was 2 months ago, but any chance for advice on prenatal vitamins/capsules that are keto friendly and don't have added junk (I am finding many that have added soybean oil or other non-keto friendly additives)? Dr. Berry's amazon suggestions are spot on; I would love one for prenatal vitamins please :)

I really like Zahler Prenatal (in a black box with pink text and sold on Amazon). They also use Folate instead of Folic Acid so if you happen to have MTHFR mutation, it's much safer and more easily absorbed. It also is the only prenatal I've found that has 2,000 IU of Vitamin D3, which is the recommended amount for pregnancy. I used it 6 months prior to conceiving, throughout my pregnancy, and now while breastfeeding (in addition to 10,000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily because the main vitamin breastmilk is lacking is D3).

Currently pregnant at 21 weeks. I had a1c checked and it’s 5.5. I eat 30grams of carbs a day. Have been eating this way before pregnancy. My sugars were doing great. And out of no where they are now fasting 140. 1 hour after eating it’s 145. What’s going on?

What if you're obese, been keto for 2 years and now starting carnivore, and just started trying to conceive, but are still overweight? I have about 30kg left to loose until my goal weight. They say it isn't good to loose weight while pregnant, but if I'm already quite overweight, won't I continue to loose/is it safe to loose weight while pregnant (planning to continue carnivore/keto while pregnant)? I'm insulin resistant PCOS and my biggest dream is to be a mum, so I want to make sure I'm doing things right.

I had the nutritionists that was helping me with my HBP.
She congratulated me for losing and keeping my weight under control. But then she got severe with me saying that what I was eating would cause death to the baby or me. The baby was perfect and had never given the doctors any concern, yet what I was eating (ketovore) (not eating 6 small meals a day), was gonna cause death. 😂😂😂
They kept yelling at me about lowering my salt for my HBP, well against my better judgement and listened to them and kept lowering my sodium intake. Well it made HBP WORSE! I soon learned that I needed more sodium, not less!!! So I started raising my salt intake and it got better. The doctor then said good on you for controlling your salt intake. 😂😂😂 anyway I’m on my next pregnancy (oops) not even a year post partum. Because of both my husband and I have been on carnivore. We are both more able to make babies. Back story, it took me 7 years to conceive after my first, and less than a year betwee 2nd and 3rd. So obviously eating carnivore has made us pretty fertile! 😅
We may need to consider a form of birth control after having this next baby! 😂
Anyway thanks DR BERRY for exposing these Crooked DRS!
