    Kelly and Dr. Berry...Loved this video! I had my second baby in 1978. I wasn't carnivore but strict Keto. I had gained a lot of weight from my first pregnancy so I went on the Atkins diet. I ate bacon and eggs and filled up on tuna salad and beef for my other meals. When I found out I was pregnant I just kept on eating the same way. I had the easiest and healthiest pregnancy. 45 minutes labor and easy delivery. I chose natural birth and was up and felt great within 24 hours! My baby weighed in at 8lbs 11oz. and was perfect in every way. I never told one person how I was eating at that time (I probably would have been hung! ;) Thank you for this video. My baby is turning 42 and she has never had health problems!

    I really enjoyed this conversation and wish it had happened back in 2003 when I was breastfeeding my 4th and was told the ketones from my diet were hurting him. I did finally wise up with my 9th pregnancy and found out it was twins. I stayed keto the entire time, gained just under 40# and had two very healthy babies at 38 weeks (I was 43 at the time). I did have sickness, but found that if I forced myself to eat red meat, I would feel so much better. I felt perfectly fine by 11 weeks and that was unusual for me. My other pregnancies were very rough when it came to sickness. The twins are 4 yrs old now and love to share Mama's ribeye and steal all the fat 😂 I also enjoyed Dr Berry talking about the ancestral parenting. All 10 of our babies shared a bed with us until they weaned or sometime after - depending on that child's needs. All 10 babies nursed anywhere from 20 mo to 3.5 years. The twins nursed the longest at 3.5 years. We always spent time snuggling skin to skin, I fed all of them on demand and never used pacifiers. I don't regret any of it. Such wonderful years. Thank you for this lovely interview ❤️

      What a beautiful story! I am newly pregnant with my 6th and I haven’t been successful with being keto (never attempted carnivore) while pregnant yet. My morning sickness has always thwarted my attempts. I need encouragement! My health is so poor, I’m surprised I’m pregnant! I’ve lost so much of my hair, I’m still 30 lbs over weight, with plantar fasciitis and so much anxiety. I need some relief and I hope I can do it this time! I gain 50lbs and it’s so hard to get off!

      Thank you for sharing this! I appreciate it. It is very sweet to hear how your pregnancy went. So many of my friends eat the American way or give into their cravings when pregnant and the ones who have been pregnant while vegan have all had some very awful pregnancy nausea and vomiting for the first trimester. I desire to have children and my hormones only started balancing out once I started eating more meat just 13 months ago! When I eat grains and beans my body just feels so sick and gassy and horrible. Only when I eat veggies and meat is when I am at the best I feel. More energy.

      J Smith I’m sorry! I felt pretty ill during my vegan pregnancy. They say carbs can make regular morning sickness worse. I tried some because I’ve having food aversions and it made me feel way worse. Much better idea to just eat the food I’m not necessarily wanting because the carbs make me way sicker. I’m sorry she’s dealing with this. I too swore I was eating healthy during my vegan pregnancy too but unfortunately Whole Foods don’t mean much if you aren’t getting your vital animal nutrients :(

    Kelly, I read your story online in October 2019. I decided I had nothing to lose and my husband and I started eating carnivore immediately. By December 2019 we had both dropped weight (me:15 lbs him: 19 lbs) and I was pregnant (after a year and a half of irregular periods). Now I am 13 weeks with twins! Unfortunately the last 6 weeks I couldn’t stay carnivore because of food aversions but I am ready to try again in the second trimester (especially after I watched this). Thanks for telling your story, spreading the message, and touching our lives. 🥰

    I so wish I knew this 8 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter.
    I am type 1 diabetic and no one EVER told me logical things like "eat less carbs".
    No.
    They just scolded me for not being able to get my blood sugars under control with crazy hormones and I had a high a1c the whole pregnancy so my baby had to spend 2 weeks in NICU and is possibly not the best she could've turned out to be now mentally and physically. It makes me want to break down and cry with guilt.

    This is CRAZY! I’m 19-20weeks pregnant. My body has been rejecting carbs and in the mean time my in-laws began the carnivore diet for health reasons. Could be pregnancy hormones or not but I’m crying watching this 🤣😭😭😭😭😅
    I had meat aversion my first trimester. Was able to do chicken, had to stop my beef liver capsules (I was taking 1oz a day prior to pregnancy), and I still get horrible acid reflux and nausea every time I eat complex carbs!
    I feel like Alice in Wonderland… like how the heck did my pregnancy sickness remove all complex carbs except a few berries and cucumbers and avocados… and my in-laws started carnivore diet all at the same time! And now my husband with Type 1 diabetes has had stable glucose for his first week in almost 20 years because of switching to the carnivore diet… like his end of life problems he most likely would have faced on a healthy diet… those could actually never come into existence because his blood sugar is finally stable!
    I’m a human, I’m growing a human… so I’m going to keep feeding this human inside me!!! Bring on the beef! 😊

    Keto has been keeping my RA under control for 1.5 years, almost medication free. In the 2nd trimester, the Dr recommended I try adding a few more carbs to stay out of ketosis while pregnant, which set off a chain reaction of inflammation and medication and complications from the medications. 3 months of grief triggered by fruit and rice!
    Back on mostly-meat keto, off meds, inflammation free, and I'm feeling great again in the 8th month of pregnancy.

I changed clinics at 36 weeks. By that time no midwife could care for me because of the diagnosis of GD. Ended up with the OB at a midwifery clinic... she still induced me for no reason but her work schedule. Watch what they tell you they may just be testing you to line their pocketbooks.

    So I’ve contemplated direct messaging you about this but I thought it would be nice to have it out in the open, so that others can benefit from this...I don’t expect an answer, but at least, someone out there who may be going thru the same thing, knows she is not alone. So, what’s happened is that I have gone carnivore last August (2019). This was because I have endometrium and 2-3 endo cysts growing in my left ovary. Right ovary is completely clear. So, I went into this woe, in hopes it would eliminate the endo. In my 3rd month, I saw a really good LCHF dr who gently explained that the carnivore would not eliminate the endo, which I actually listened to and realised this reality. So, just this week (March 2020), I went in to have a scan (last scan in May 2019), and lo and behold, it grew, by a few millimetres to a point where it would be advisable to surgical remove it. I have to say this woe has been extremely good for me, I have had exponential energy and zero pain. Everything healed quickly (bruises, cuts, skin) - I did lose hair but I suspect that’s because of too much fasting. Now, I’m pretty much in a conundrum.... trying to figure out what to do with these growing but painless growth. So... I just wanted to share that while carnivore is really beneficial, I would encourage people really do their own research and not just depend on listening to people’s testimonials.

    Regarding the fetal heart monitor, maybe it's more of a problem than a help for healthy pregnancies. However, I had a friend who miscarried multiple times, then had to be put on bed rest for her one "successful" pregnancy because she kept going into labor early. They had a fetal monitor on her when she waa in labor and when she rolled over the baby's heart rate dropped. They did a C-section and it turned out the placenta had started to separate. That baby is now in her 20s and didn't suffer any permanent damage from her rough start.

    Without the band my daughter may have died. Normal pregnancy and labor progressing naturally. With each contraction her heart nearly stopped. She had pooped inside and was being poisoned. Wouldn’t have known her distress without that band. Broke my water and it was green. So, sometimes it matters. I agree 💯 with everything else in this video. Love you both. Wish I had carnivore when I was pregnant.

    For 15 years I couldn't stand to smell eggs although I ate them and my family ate them most days of the week. So, I think it's a woman's hormones that go awry even when not pregnant.

    MEAT AVERSION THEORY
    I think historically (ancient) food wasn’t as available. Many if not most were underweight. We probably evolved to crave fattening combinations in the first trimester in order to pack on a little weight up front for the sake of the baby and for the inevitable famines which could arise over the 9-10 months of pregnancy…. Also winter. We crave carbs at first because the body WANTS higher insulin in order to gain more weight…. It just wants to be ready… I was the same way… second trimester now this baby only wants flame broiled meat and spicy ass chili and roasts…… so I think it’s a survival thing

    What about starting carnivore in the first trimester? I have a history of carnivore ,animal based and keto in the past. I got pregnant eating animal based but fell off. I'm worried as I've had a few miscarriages switching to carnivore. I've thought I could start animal based then slowly ween into carnivore or heavy meat based

    How I got my supply up was I pumped before I know my baby was about to eat so then he would have to demand more from me.. so if you are relying on pumping only or the baby only for me I did need the intervention of the pump. Because my baby would not want to keep working when he got full enough but would cry because he wanted more.. so I would empty out some then he would have to work harder to begin then if he was not full I would then give him what I pumped. Started making so much I would have excess. It helped for when I got unwell I had plenty of extra milk in the freezer while I had antibiotics. I still continued to pump and dump while taking medicine, as to not loose production, but I did drop some production from not feeding the baby.

    I’m 38 weeks, fourth pregnancy, first Keto pregnancy. I’m not full carnivore, but I’ve only gained 25 lbs. My previous pregnancies I gained 80, 65, and 45 lbs respectively. This time around I look and feel amazing, and I might actually have a NORMAL sized child ( all my babies have been big... 11#8oz with #1, 10#0oz with #2, and 9#2oz with #3).

    I'm not strict carnivore this pregnant (my 4th) but I eat A LOT of meat lol for lunch I may eat a steak with a homemade ziti with ricotta and fresh mozzarella and rice noodles and then for dinner I'll have roast with veggies and I feel fantastic!!! I've had no symptoms, no cramps, no nausea... I can't even tell I'm pregnant. My last pregnancy I was strict healthy keto and I had a great pregnancy and an all natural unassisted labor and delivery. My body knew what to do and did it efficiently! It's all about the fats! I crave roast because of the fat content and I do not buy grass fed roast and it does my body and skin amazing! I even use the fat from the roast to cook my fillets and Ribeyes 😋

    My first pregnancy I was fully vegan (I was misinformed and made an emotional decision, basically). I craved meat so bad! I ate vegan "meat" and stayed vegan. My second pregnancy I did try, but couldn't and finally fell off the vegan bandwagon. My third, I tried to eat more WAPF style but I was so unbelievably nauseous like my first two pregnancies, it was very hard. I had decent pre-pregnancy nutrition at least, but was likely still pretty depleted.
    With all of my pregnancies, I gained between 15-20 lbs. Babies all normal weights: 6 lbs 11 oz, 7 lbs 8 oz, and 8 lbs 4 oz. I have big sugar aversions during pregnancy, as well as peanut butter aversions. I lose it very quickly during the first 2 weeks, then steadily gain it all back (sans baby) by binge eating on sugar :/
    I'm kicking myself for my past decisions, but I can only move forward. Now I want to try to get the kids eating more meat/eggs, even dairy. Especially since they're growing. But they just love simple carbs...
    A metric I'm curious about, as a "study of one": with all my kids, I've never gotten my cycles back while I breastfeed. I'm wondering if by going carnivore, will that change? I'd actually love to get my cycle back, because we want another baby and I don't want to have to wean my son earlier than we're ready. I weaned my other two at 10/11 months for this reason also.

    Towards the end........I think Vit C would be something to watch out for on Carnivore. Be sure to consume organ meats which are high in Vit C. Or supplement.

    • @myzerocarblife
      @myzerocarblife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      fanclass0f76 - People are certainly free to do that. But i did neither of those things during any of my 3 pregnancies (other than sometimes taking a prenatal vitamin from Walmart). I don’t enjoy organ meats.

    • @my-yt-inputs2580
      @my-yt-inputs2580 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@myzerocarblife I guess the issue is we humans only get Vit C from our diet. Vit C is pretty plentiful in some plant foods but generally pretty low in animal based foods with the exception of organ meats. It appears Oysters and Cod Row have some as well.
      I'm not trying to push vegan. Yuck! ;)
      And as Dr Berry himself suggests in a previous video out C vitamin needs may go down on keto/carnivore.

    • @katbarronhome
      @katbarronhome 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      myzerocarblife it’s interesting. I strongly suggest increasing vit c to clients who’ve had preterm premature rupture of membranes. Yes vit c needs go way down if not eating carbs, but my guess is this could’ve been an issue in your first pregnancy. As a midwife I was all about keto, or mostly carnivore, but I think there is a place for balance. Some organ meats are very high in vit C.

      Low carb/keto recipes and having fun Vernaz No, that’s mostly nonsense. I’ve heard people claim people with Type A Blood do better on plant based, but I’m Type A and can only eat animal foods. Humans are humans, they need the same foods to thrive. Yes, some people can handle certain foods better than others, but that’s not based on blood type.

      I’ve talked about Dr Dunlap many, many times and have publicly thanked him in probably 20+ interviews/podcasts. I have certainly never claimed that all doctors are liars. I talk in this very interview about how great my OB doctors were. Dr Berry tilted his book “Lies My Doctor Told Me”, that’s true. He didn’t call it “all doctors are liars”. And I have never written a book at all. :) You’re totally right: there are many amazing doctors, and I’ve been blessed to have some of them.

    Hello!! A little less than a month ago my mom and I committed to going carnivore for a month (at least). Less than two weeks in I got the flu really bad and didn’t want to eat anything for about two days... and when I did eat something I just wanted chicken noodle soup! Well I wish now I had just had chicken soup and left out the noodles! Because I was feeling great up until I started feeling sick! But since I’ve been sick I just seem to want all the carbs! The only meat I really want is chicken... and the thought of having another burger or steak which I was LOVING before I got sick... just doesn’t sound good at all anymore. I’ve gained back the 15 pounds I lost over the about week and a half I was full carnivore. And I’m just mad at myself for failing! Do you have any tips on getting back on track now that meat (except chicken) just doesn’t appeal to me? Thank you both for your honesty and being so down to earth!! You two are some of my favorite youtubers now!!

I JUST started my carnivore journey (not pregnant, but would like to be) but each prior pregnancy had severe early onset preeclampsia (loss at 26 weeks, premature (but baby is healthy) delivery due to HELLP at 34 weeks).

    Ok but there are also vegans who had horrible health issues that are then fixed with plant-based diets and they have healthy pregnancies. Look up Deliciously Ella. I’m not saying I think vegan is healthy and meat is bad but some vegetables and even grains can’t be that bad if women only eating plant-based have babies! Why can’t these two communities get together and find where the truth really lies?

    My concern is..i have been doing Keto 4.5 years..during the covid crazy i had a year of cheating a lot....i went back to hard healthy keto in early January and then switched to KetovourDiet mid February. Once i went to KetovourDiet i automatically went to OMAD and struggle to consume even 1000 calories a day...usually less.. That can't be healthy for a baby. I recently have been adding even more fat..is that good enough? If not what should i do to make sure a baby would get proper nutrients?
