as a Rockstar North tester, how dare you not see the gem the game is how dare you listen to moronic fools trolling you, we spent all the time from since red dead redemption making rdr 2 testers spent years mate years in making this game work smooth, we did stuff no player would think of doing just to make sure nothing wrong would happen down to making sure every special way out of bounds could work propperly! yeah there ya go truth is out in specific spots it was and is intended to get outa bounds in others nope.
back in 2019 on christmas day, right around the moonshine release, me and about 5-6 of my best friends all hopped on RDO and just hung out, drinking, listening to the holiday music in game for hours. None of us had family to celebrate with at the time and it just worked perfectly. Still one of my favorite gaming memories of all time
that's what a social gaming platform is all about... progress...money...unlockables... yeah yeah... it's all about the EXPERIENCE... Glad you had a good one
My family did the equivalent of this during the first lockdown at New Years, it was the year that AC:NH released, so we all, as a family, hopped into our AC:NH worlds and experienced the New Years countdown together, since the real TV fireworks display in London was obviously cancelled. It's probably one of my most unique and precies celebration memories.
One aspect that shocks me about how Rockstar handled the RDO situation is that for a company that concerns so much about return on investment, they left money on the table by stopping their support of RDO.
Well clearly Rockstar made a calculated and difficult decision to abandon it. But rockstar thinks that they can make more than RDO with just GTA updates and whatnot. Which definitely seems to be the case
GTA:O somehow makes so much money that I’d imagine they’d make back their money from that alone, including from just sales of Red Dead Redemption. RDO also generates waaaay less profit for them than GTA does. To them it’s probably a waste of resources. Which is a shame
@@THEODSTKING117It generates way more profit because they’ve been milking online updates for the game for over a fucking decade. I remember online on release, not nearly as fleshed out. They never gave red dead a chance to be a ‘cash cow’ because they didn’t deliver on a single fucking thing they promised before releasing the RDR2 online beta. There will ALWAYS be another generation of kids who spend their mom’s money on shark cards for an online game that should’ve died 7-8 years ago.
even though they somewhat tried to add online support they really missed out on adding some single player story dlc's , would've been great to get heist missions robberies etc after you complete the story
Honestly, here’s what I would have done to fix this: 1. Train heists 2. Bank heists 3. Base of operations on a riverboat to plan and execute heists alone or with friends with purchasable upgrades like private poker games, private ammo shop, private weapon shop, and so on. 4. Mexico 5. Moar horses, including holiday themed ones like a ghostly horse for Halloween. 6. Finish the story mode with a mission to kill the last target in Sisika prison. 7. Vehicles like carts, armored carts, Gatling gun carts and so on. 8. Guarma map and Gun runner role. 9. Moar weapons from around the world like the martini rifle, European pistols, Mexican rifles, and others. 10. The Riverboat heist with Dutch so that we finally know what happened.
I know people really want Mexico but look at how empty and uninviting new Austin there is literally nothing to do there, I bet Mexico would be even more empty
It was an Epic Game and Experience. I will never understand why they let it die. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for this community. Your videos are equally as memorable for me as the game itself. 👍🤠
They let it die because they have all of their resources focused on making Grand Theft Auto 6 which will give them a significantly more massive payday than RDR online ever could hope for. At the end of the day it's all about money, not our enjoyment.
@@sleazo3281 I mean it's not cap, yeah they are a big company but it's more profitable for them to pump all their resources into a game franchise that will make them over 10x the amount of money RDR2 could ever hope to. The market for GTA is significantly bigger meaning much higher sales for the company, on top of that GTA online is filled with Shark Cards and other micro transactions that make Rockstar millions of dollars. Pooling money into RDR2 on the other hand will give Rockstar little revenue in comparison so from a business standpoint it makes much more sense to let it die.
The game isn't dead, just because devs stopped giving a fuck doesn't mean the game is dead, there are tons of people still actively playing, videos like this just hurt the chances of gaining new players cause alot of people will search a game on YT before they buy it.
I really like the role system. They could still do so much with it. The biggest problem with RDO is the extreme focus on pvp. The fact that you can't do pretty much anything without the risk of other players screwing with you is a major drawback for casual players. You know, the people with full time jobs, lives and, most importantly, money to spend. I've played a lot of FO76 and once they got away from the pvp, the game started to get a LOT better.
I agree, I don’t want to get shot 24/7, I want to be a naturalist and explore the huge map on my horse. Plus, getting gold bars are extremely difficult for me, heck, even just regular money is hard to get! Maybe I’m just awful at the game, but everything feels so expensive.
@@lemonshobbies it gets super easy if you can maintain your streak and even easier once you unlock a few roles to make gold. Also, do NOT neglect your treasure maps. Most maps will get you $1-2 and they're unique...ish. You can only carry one of each at a time. There are a couple exceptions, but I think those are from the tutorials. As for regular $$? Collector. There's a lot of nuance to it now, only certain sets are completely available every day, others have varying levels of randomness to them. I'll make about $1000/day just collecting as I do other stuff and visiting Madame Nazaar every few days to cut down my large stacks. Then, I'll occasionally hunt down the specific collectables to complete sets when I have one or two left.
I remember when the roles first came out a friend and I were figuring out the camp upgrade with Cripps. We were stacking the horses to full, but noticed even though the donations bar was full, it still let us donate, and I was still getting XP upgrading for the role. We wound up maxing it in like and hour or two tops. I told everyone else how I leveled mine to max, and it never worked for anyone else upgrading the role. So that was definitely a pleasant bug I randomly had on that day/server.
I have a job and still love posse free roam fights. I know people like me make up 10% of the rdo community but it’s a western game not a flower picking simulator.
I was so hyped for when it finally went out of beta, just seeing all the support and add-ons that GTAO made my mind go wild with the stuff we were possibly going to receive… I used to grind hours/weekends just looking forward to the day when properties are available to purchase (going base on what gta has got) it’s such a shame… I remember everyone excited over the possibility of mansions being added in Saint Denis and what not… it’s depressing lol
They made the real game empty with all of the patches during the beta. Sure, it was hectic, but at least you knew where other players were across the map.
This is the only game that made me say “Wow this is just something else” the graphics, gameplay, side missions just every little detail they put into this game was something I never played before. It was so addicting just to hunt , explore places & have encounters with random strangers. Glad I was living in the moment at that time.. just crazy they didn’t take it serious or put anything into it much after
I’ve only had a few games do this for me (I went from ps2 to ps4 so I missed a LOT of great games in that generation) in my life God of War PS4, Last of Us Pt 1, GTA V (it was the first next gen game I played, the first time seeing good graphics on a *good* TV, Spyro was the most graphically complex game I had played up until that point XD (that’s actually a bit of an over exaggeration, PS2 had some GREAT games, King Kongs graphics were amazing!) Red Dead Redemption 2 gave me that feeling I got playing the prologue to GTA V again, seeing the snow and stuff, just, really was like a Deja Vu moment lol GTA V didnt keep me immersed nearly as steadily as RDR2 has
@@Sticko-Man as a player who has been here since beta. They never cared, GTA online makes too much money for them to care they want to profit and put in the least amount of effort possible. I’ve never seen a game so beautifully crafted abandoned like that it makes me angry as fuck
I think Maggie (in the Moonshiner story) was definitely one of the best characters introduced into RDO. The whole Land of Opportunities story was okay, but I think it didn't really cause players to be invested as the story was really Jessica's story, rather than the players. With Maggie, we were given the back story, but were more involved and immersed in bringing her enemies to justice. It also rounded off nicely and then, of course, we were left with the Moonshiner role, so there is that link which is ever present in the game, whereas Land of Opportunities is largely forgotten about. Excellent video and despite Rockstar pretty much abandoning us faithful Red Dead players, I still have a great fondness for the game and do enjoy dipping into it from time to time. As for story mode - I think it is probably the best I have ever played, and having played it through at least three times now, I still feel the emotions from the game - the transition from the relatively fun and carefree nature of the gang at the start - despite the seriousness of their predicament - to the collapsing of gang loyalties and the ultimate almost unravelling of Dutch's sanity toward the end is compelling and almost disturbing as the game reaches its conclusion.
Yea Rockstar lost me as a fan and customer. They abandoned Red Dead Online while giving us nothing we wanted. We got 0 heists, 0 train robberies, 0 content we actually wanted and Rockstar really dropped the ball and just showed me how little they carried for my favorite franchise that Rockstar makes. I hate gta and have since the game had an over head view.
I haven't played in 2 years but if rockstar would bring everything in to the game that has been discussed and stay in top of new content, fixes etc, I would pay a subscription fee and buy gold. The game is too good to just "let it sit". Even though I don't play, I still follow cat and keep up.
Yeah, I'd actually pay $5-10 a month to get a good RDO. I love the western freeroam aspect, and RDO can be more historically accurate than story, if you try.
I still play RDO occasionally and I still enjoy levelling up my roles, hunting, fishing etc. The PVP is something I've never been interested in with Rockstar Games, in GTA Online I prefer just minding my business and just doing jobs, earning money, shopping etc. This had so much potential and I hope if RDR3 has a online mode, they take the best parts of RDO and GTAO and make an amazing western online game. The grind with GTAO gradually increased over the first 5 years so it didn't feel as grindy until later on but with RDO it was grindy from the start which wasn't great for everyone just starting out.
GTA online was just as bad a rdr at launch at first it started just like red dead hardly anything to do you had races death matches and those small jobs you get like when Gerald called you there was like 3 or 4 of those it's was really grindy didn't get payed any money and everyone was trying to save up a mil for the adder and another few hundred thousand to get a apartment then you had the most expensive things in the game I played day one of GTA online you had to keep trying to get into servers over and over till you finally got in it took a day and a half grinding the same missions over and over to get money because Gerald's was the best paying mission it paid either 20 or 25k per completion imagine saving 1.5 mill doing one mission over and over bc everything else was dull
PVP Cat, this video made me reflect on things my wife and I have enjoyed most about RDR online. We loved most of the content you highlighted in the video but the part we have appreciated most is all the great videos with tips, stats, livestreams and sharing news with the community that YOU have provided. Whenever you post a new RDR video we put it on our TV in the living room so our family can all watch it. We still do that to this day. Thank you for everything Cat. When you start with other games we will make a genuine attempt to join in IF it's a genre we would ever play.... GTA, hard pass. LOL I wish you the best and brightest future for you, your family, and your channel. We will remain your fans.
@@squarehammer4619 Maybe you should speak to a therapist about managing that dysfunctional imagination of yours. Whatever personal hardships you're having- trolling isn't gonna cure you problems.
This is such a Heartfelt message bro, I also game with my S/O and finding stuff we both like is particularly hard, maybe watching a channel together will be something tht could work
This made me so nostalgic. I have a lot to say about this but will save it for later. But I remember all of these as good times, even the early empty days of RDO, and thought the community was a bit too harsh on the game too early in its "development". My best gaming memories are from RDO, so it was heartbreaking to see it end.
That hunting route round saint denis with the gators and pelicans brought back some great memories. Before everyone had explosive ammo, dynamite arrows and fully upgraded load outs. Grizzly outlaws everywhere and blackwater was a constant war zone full of noobs entering free roam for the first time. I miss it.
Early red dead days were the best, fresh content, outlaw passes, waiting for more updates grinding inbetween them, and all the players, man I wish I could go back although I was on console but it was some of the most fun I've had, most of my friends then played it and now I have like 3 friends with not even 10 hours on pc
I remember Christmas 2022 with all the snow, me and my friend were relatively broke and were were just playing call to arms in colter all night. It was so fun and that was probably when I was at my peak of rd. it also helped that we hadn’t finished all of the blood money missions so we still had a ton of content to complete.
I was there in the pre ordered online days. I played online for awhile, when the roles came, did all the roles maxed em out than I realized nothing else was coming. This online had so much potential. Could’ve been beautiful and way more fun.
I played this game to death with a group of friends. Had a blast. I've clocked a total of about 5 minutes since R* announced they weren't developing the title further. Although I don't have a TON of complaints about the title, I hadn't realized how much of a role 'hope' had played in that enjoyment until the announcement.
Fun fact about the daily challenge streak. There is a special poncho you need a streak of 50 days in a row that is completely unobtainable now. The true sign of Red Dead OGs
Played from day one, pre ordered because I had loved every other game Rockstar had made so I knew I would spend a lot of time with red dead, joined a really big posse, made friends with a few of them and we left to form our own smaller tight knit posse, I was over 20 000 miles away from my family so these guys were who I spent my holidays with, so many huge wars, so many late nights having deep talks and talking about what we would like to see in the game, during the pandemic it felt like such an important part in my life, I stuck through the whack economy nerfs, not having any animals for months, not having any information from Rockstar, I didn't drink or gamble or do anything like that so every payday I'd put a 25$ card on to get gold and support the game, I saw how long they had milked gta so I assumed they would be adding content for much longer than they did.. towards the end it felt like they prioritized new players experiences by giving them deals and free tickets for shit I had bought when it first came out, we all started losing passion and now I haven't talked to any of the gang in a long time, can't help but think about all the possibilities of hopes and dreams we had for this games, I remember thinking that people who were giving up were being pessimistic and didn't know Rockstar like I did, they had made so many of my favorite games, I thought they were the best, they had do much passion for their games and stories and now being one of the biggest companies with millions they have so much potential but somewhere along the way they lost their souls, thing is I'll probably still buy gta 6 or any title they make and do the same thing over again but my feelings have definitely changed about Rockstar and how they treated the online has even left a sour taste in my mouth with the story mode as great as it is, I can't help but feel disappointed with them.
This video unlocked so many memories :') I havent play the game in months, in which i still have a cowgirl/bounty huntress since beta days that i kinda miss :') I met new and amazing people (and i still have contact with them on discord), i was under a big ass crisis in college around 2019 when "frontier pursuits" arrived, so that helped to have my mind in a "relaxed mood" after all the tests/exams and shit that happened that year... it was like a "revival" for me, and also I learned more english by playing with other people, since my country speaks spanish Thanks cat, maybe one day i will give her a properly goodbye :')
One day I was playing red dead online and this guy was on a mic walking by me in valantine and said"don't mind me,I'm just boot-scoot n boogin". It's little stuff like this that make this game worth going back to.
It's definitely fizzled down to new players, those who simply enjoy the online aspect of Red dead and a few griefers with nothing better to do. It's nice to ride by other people or to simply not be killed on sight. Yes the game could've been better but I'll always enjoy it for what it is. Gotta go glass half full rather than half empty
This was my favorite game for a long time. Every day after work I’d spend hours grinding, exploring and trying to avoid griefers. The landscape and scenery was beautiful and even the npc’s weren’t too bad. This had so much potential to be something great. I get that they have “limited resources “ and developing grand theft auto 6 can’t be easy but the whole reason they have money to do that is because of the pay to win gold bars they got tons of people to buy.. even I spent money on gold bars a time or two. They basically wanted us to just keep giving them our money without them giving us anything in return and that’s not right. Rockstar creates some amazing worlds but as a whole they are really shady. They don’t see us as a part of their gaming family and community, merely customers.
Played RDR religiously as a kid and even beat undead nightmare a few times over. Got RDR2 when it came out my sophomore year of college but was in a fraternity, gf, honors student, etc. and never found time to play it. Fast forward to January 2023 and I finally got the itch to beat the campaign and loved it. Just last month I finally got into online and truly enjoy it and have since found your channel. Needless to say, this video crushes my spirits a little lol but I have some buddies I play with and have been having a great time
Rockstar and gtao fans were and still are so shortsighted when it comes to rdo, they see how buggy and underdeveloped rdo is and say it’s pointless to even try making the game good. But it’s exactly that, the reason WHY is not good is because rockstar didn’t bother to make it good, they should’ve done that to begin with, then they’d have a online mode way better than gtao.
I was so hyped for RDO when it came out. It was so bad that i quit entirely. The griefing, the varmint rifle meta, missions that gave $5 & .02 gold. You brought back memories lmao. I just recently gave it another go & i am hooked.
For a game that had record breaking sales even up to 5 years after launch, if they dont come back and show this masterpiece the attention it NEEDS and DESERVES, I have lost all faith in humanity
It's frustrating that they won't even sell it to a proper company that can handle RDO well. They don't do it because they know that then their shitty GTA Online wouldn't stand a chance against RDO.
@@Montgomeryyy Yeah I can't find myself returning to GTAO like I have RDO. It might have 5x the amount of content, but the polish and community isn't the same. If RDO had half the content and attention GTAO gets, it would be a tighter competition. Just checked the steam charts earlier and RDO only has 2k players active at once, whilst GTAO has 150k. The reason for this? Well there isn't enough online content to keep players interested beyond rank 100
@@og4915 With a proper development team and updates, RDO is the better game. The community is better, the setting is more interesting and the gameplay is more fun.
i played alot of the red dead online and what killed it for me was the amount of trolls in the game, i had insanely overpowered players chugging tonics that were basically bullet proof, there only goal was to chase me around spawn killing me i even tried hiding in stores and the knew how to throw bombs inside the safe zone to kill me.
i recently played it again with friends for a few days and it sucks. you cant even go to the stable anymore cause its bugged. but it still can be fun with friends.
I remember the varmint rifle was overpowered, you could hunt birds for those fat stacks of cash while also ruining anyone in your path. Slow and steady with never without one was nuts.
It’s hard to let RDR go especially when you shared moments with friends for years playing RDR online. All we need is some kind of closure or conclusion to end this game.
You unintentionally helped my gaming experience, massively. I used to play on the PS4 a few years back and recently, I just bought a new gaming PC and since I've been playing, the game just didnt feel right or look as good and I couldn't pinpoint why. Everything just felt... dry and dusty, if that makes sense. I just happened to notice how vibrant your colors were and... boom, it hit me. It was my PC's default color settings! I changed some settings and now every game I play is more vibrant than ever. Everything is looking so good. A thumbs up for that! You da man.
GTA 5 Online might be the best thing that ever happened to Rockstar financially. But it is the worst thing that ever happened to them creatively, considering everything that was cancelled in favor of more gta online content. GTA 5 expansions, RDR2 expansions, remakes, and maybe even more games that would have been developed if not for gta online.
I played RDR1's multiplayer almost every day for nearly 4 years, it was so good. I started RDO at the beginning and managed to accumulate a 500 day challenge streak before I realized that I was having exactly 0 fun playing the game. Most of the time it was literally logging in to complete 1 challenge just to keep my streak going. When I got to 500 days, I decided to pull the plug. I'm glad I did because about 3 weeks later they nerfed the daily challenges and I would've been pissed having my streak reset every 28 days. In a game about outlaws, they gave us largely-legal roles that amounted to having an online job. I got bored and moved on to other games.
I keep coming back to unwind and hunt animals, stare at Harriet as she gets me high, and just live in that world. The music, the atmosphere and the feeling of the game very chill. I don't grind it
What made this not so empty and alot of fun for me was teaming up with other players. I could get on and solo and enjoy it but it got MEH easily. But me and my ex played this heavily and eventually made a lot of friends off of it and with a full posse we could do missions easily fending off greifers. Once the new trades came out and we could escort wagons from A to B it was even more fun because the whole map roster would ambush us and we'd crush them. Best moments.
I totally feel you, I tried to have a role-playing structure /gang posse, we were deep like that, struggling to get all of our friends online because we had too much, attracted wo many random didn't know who to trust , strangly and ironically same thing happened in gta5 back on 2013 , so I had my buddies base their characters from gta into this game but as their ancestors, the idea actually was catching on and all these dudes had backgrounds and everyone was unique and different, only few were the same, man long story short, it's one of the most greatest feelings of online gaming, the type of power we had a.d still trying not to be a grief posse was the biggest challenge , trying to groom fools and keep em in line was a waste of time butost did listen because they saw the potential we had, even other large posses would ride with us sometimes because they seen how much of a threat we was, I'm pissed I didn't get to record all of it, barely was able to find a few vids, so it all ain't just some bull, but trust me please, now my character is a old man riding around helping and joining random posses when invited
I remember early on, discovering a little spot in the swamps I could loop around to farm skins and feathers. It was pretty awful, but compared to the rest of the game it felt like a worthwhile money grind. They nerfed the sell values in half within weeks. I quit playing shortly after that.
Back in the early days of RDO there were no ghost sessions me and friends had similar problems where every dip in the connection would just kick us. It was frustrating AF and everytime i spawned in am empty session i would jump for joy
Yup, I remember fleeing back to my camp over and over because as soon as I left it everyone knew and would come after me. I remember the early Beta days exploiting the ringneck creek bug (still there) where you cast into it and fish just washed up along it. Get your 20 and sell them in Rhodes to make $. I also exploited the cougar-carcass-into-horse-stable bug and the other where putting a wagon over a treasure chest would allow you to open it over and over again to rack up gold (I think i got like 100GB)
I just came from the most recent video. I played red dead Online since the very first day it released for ultimate edition players on ps4. I remember most of the stuff that went on in this game over the years. I enjoyed frontier pursuits and moonshiner dlcs. For me the no animal spawns started after frontier pursuits. I was looking forward to the trader role the most but this issue caused me to take 4 or so months just to rank up the trader role to max. I ended up enjoying the other roles way more than trader at the time. It’s unfortunate rockstar abandoned this game had so much wasted potential.
I've played for 7700+ hours now and am about to hit level 1000, but whilst I love this game deeply, I'm also looking forward to finishing and not having to deal with Rockstar anymore 🤣
How in the world you didn't get bored lol I played only two months of online and I'm already maxed all the roles and i only reached rank 185 and now I'm bored to death there is nothing else to do besides repet the same things over and over again with no point and also because of lack of contents
@@whitewolf1028 i mean, you can try to buy every single piece of outfit with their recolors, buy every single weapon and customize them, buy multiple horses, help newbies and stuff. Or stack on money and gold hoping for a new update while you take a whiff of copium
Same. Roughly 3800 hours, took a break for 7 months after they announced it's over and just recently came back to finish the level 1000 grind. Should hit it in ~2 weeks, then I can finally move on.
I've been playing for just over a year and managed to reach level 500. However, the game is extremely boring and I'm already feeling satisfied to abandon it. I can't take Rockstar anymore.
I won’t forget hopping on a few weeks ago to start my journey to level 50 for the trophy. First thing I did was go and track down a better horse than the Scrawny Nag. And got super upset that I couldn’t tame a wild horse anymore. And how does a game featuring the Wild West, with bank robberies and train heists a staple of the story mode, have absolutely none of that in the online mode. Yet their GTA online has everything in it.
wow, the nostalgia of hearing it’s evolution (or the lack of it) throughout the years really brought me back. I remember grinding so much to be able to purchase all the things coming out with new updates but now my character will just be eternally rich with nothing to spend the money on.
I still think the original collector role played a big part in RDO's death. The fact that the easy grind had a good payout combined with lack of content meant nobody needed to buy goldbars. In fact a major part of the player base had enough to buy all the new content for the foreseeable future which gave Rockstar little reason to invest.
Red Dead Online died because it didn't work like they hoped. Rockstar was looking to make billions from microtransactions like GTA Online, but RDO didn't attract the type of players GTA did. RDO is a slow-paced, slow traveling, wide open natural vistas, weapons limited by technology, no flying horses with guided missiles. The target players found RDO boring, slow and empty. The people who love the game love the pace and the environment. They don't mind doing the work for the money and gold. Its very chill. They don't care about flexing cosmetics. They don't buy Gold Bars. And so Rockstar don't care. There really isn't much they could add to attract the people they want without ruining the game anyways. It would take adding alllll the stuff that makes GTA bad, cus that stuff appeals to children, idiots and griefers: The core of Rockstar's customer base.
This is a really nice post mortem of sorts of a video for RDO. I just recently finished RDR2 (easily one the best single player games ever made) and I am a veteran of GTA Online so I hopped on to see what RDO is about. GTA Online isn't all that good but it can be quite chill and I was expecting something similar. Unfortunately, what I found was even worse than what I expected. It was a... salvageable experience but since I am on PC the cheaters really just drove it home for me and I lasted for about a whole of 5 hours before just quitting. I have my ways of dealing with modders/cheaters in GTA Online but the way RDO is made it's frustrating to use those tools. I'm glad that somebody made a video detailing how it got to where it is
This felt like a walk down memory lane. I loved the Online side of RDR1 with the forever echoing "Gang Shootout" standoff for the PvP game modes which were fun, then Outlaws To The End and constantly added content. I didn't get to play in the RDO BETA but I was abusing my PS4 playing Online without PS+ so I could get the trophies (missed 1-2) for my Platinum. I joined Discord groups and got to really enjoy the experience before switching to PC. As you described, it's such a shame how this game with a hell of a lot of potential just went to waste. The players I've spoken with don't want PvP content. We wanted Rancher roles like John does, we wanted Horse Rustling/Stable roles, Bank or Train Heists, further role expansions, our own properties. We even wanted them to finish the Land Of Opportunities story, especially now that so many have discovered that Mrs LeClerk IS referenced in the Single Player story! For those who didn't know, have Arthur donate $10 to the woman in Saint Denis for the Veteran's Building then view the plaque as John in the Epilogue. It will say "Mr and Mrs LeClerk" a short way below Arthur's name. But... Rockstar joined the bandwagon of corporate company greed. Ignoring their fan base, not bothering to fix their broken content, not investing in a stable anti-cheat system (even free games like Fortnite and Fall Guys have one) and instead they go for cash grab antics, milking one game and abandoning the rest, slap the faces to RDR fans with the copy-paste RDR1 instead of a remaster and as TGG pointed out in a video the day I put this, Rockstar's CEO gets a doubled salary and went against what the company put in a statement back in 2021 to VGC; "What we've done differently than the competition is that we don't just port our title's, we actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the newer technology that we're launching on." ...so what are you doing with a 13 year old game being released to the "modern" PlayStation console? Sorry, I'm one very disappointed Red Dead fan right now...
It's not ruined. I am new to rdr thanks to the discount and I can play rdo solo, but somehow I brought my friends into it. Also I watched some of your vids about not doing the mistakes, but of course I did them. The first thing we did when joined sessions was pvp 🤣 then poker and like that we lost all the money, and we are starving 🤣 but is fun. The lasso is hilarious. Thanks for the vids it really helps the new players.
Just because you and some friends had some fun recently doesn't mean that it isn't ruined. It is ruined, which is why Rockstar pulled devs off the game and it isn't being updated.
The players who played RDO from the start had all that fun.. especially messing around with the lasso. It just eventually gets old especially when rockstar gave up on bringing interesting things into the picture
I stopped playing RDO around the start of 2020. I was making plenty of money, but there was nothing to spend it on. There was also a huge lack of activities to keep the game fun. RDO became extremely boring and pretty frustrating too due to R* completely ignoring the fanbase. Like, people have been asking for properties for years now, R* still hasn't added them and probably never will. Personally, I wanted to see cars in the game. People have pointed out that the cars of the time were slower than horses, but I don't care. It'd just be another way to get around the map and a bit of a novelty.
I actually like the current state. It’s got enough fun for not too much hassle. People are a lot more cool and non aggressive these days you can actually approach others without being shot instantly.
I remember seeing a video called "NO CLICKBAIT! FIRST HUGE GOLD GLITCH IN RDO!". I watched it and went home and put a cart on top of a treasure chest. It allowed the player to infinitely take the contents of the treasure chest for as long as the cart wheel was placed correctly. I earned over 1000 gold bars in 1 hour. I figure for as long as my favorite developer expects me to pay to win, I'm going to cheat to win, and I'll look to do the same in gta6 in the first 6 months where glitches will most likely be found and patched within 24 hours. We warned them things were priced unreasonable, and they wouldn't listen, so if you can't beat em, i say cheat em! Seeing how they nerfed the daily challenges that I loved it turned out to have been a preemptive strike.
I have always had one "hot" take about Frontier Pursuits: Expecting more updates of that scale was unreasonable. I never looked at that as a normal update, but the end of beta with the CORE GAMEPLAY being added.
kind of reminds me of how GTAV online started out, except they had stores you could rob and heists you could do. Still, making money in GTAV online these days is a pain in the ass because everything costs way too much for how little you can get.
Ah yes, bird hunting in beta with the disconnects. That's why I did the cougar glitches, to compensate money I had lost from disconnects. I never "abused" the glitches, just used it for what I felt I was owed.
Yeah it takes a lot. I started playing online some weeks ago (doing some blood money contracts, story missions and daily) and now I have 13 gold bars. It s a good game to chill, but very slow
I won’t forget hopping on a few weeks ago to start my journey to level 50 for the trophy. First thing I did was go and track down a better horse than the Scrawny Nag. And got super upset that I couldn’t tame a wild horse anymore.
I'm just disgusted with Rockstar. It's not the same "Rockstar" anymore, it's led by entirely different people now. "Rockstar" only cares about money now, not their fans or the games themselves anymore. Whatever gets them money, they leech onto it and disregard everything else.
Yep. That's exactly how it went. My friends and I used to do what we called satchel hunting in the beginning, feathers, fish, small game and pelts. We lost so many pelts from getting disconnected, usually $100 and up. That was when I used to love this game.
As far as Read Dead Online has fallen,no one can take away from the masterpiece that is main story of Red Dead Redemption 2 and tbh I’ve always just preferred starting a new playthrough of story mode than actually playing Online, it simply has no soul or immersion unlike Story Mode
Yep. I am a 73 year old player, not interested in PVP. I've just finished 100% on the Story Line, including 100% story line, 100% challenges and 100% compendium. Whew. 1000 hours. I took it slowly and patiently. That is the game I like.
I just got back into RDR after being away from almost the beginning. Still a good online game. I dont see much wrong with it. Lots of new content to play through, and getting killed every so often is to be expected. I just ignore it most of the time, or load into a story mission. The one thing they do need to add, though, I agree, is classic bank and train robberies. Game's been out for years and you still can't rob a bank in a mmo online western
The fact that we never got an Undead Nightmare 2 dlc or even some sort of update or events for RDO is such a missed opportunity. Its literally just a case of if Rockstar cant monetize the absolute shit out of something they wont commit regardless of player demand.
I played through most of these updates yet have no memorable moments from them. Shows the heart rockstar put into online. I've had much more fun just replaying the story every once in a while.
Rockstar is in a steep decline. They never understood even back with RDR1 that most of us could give a crap about PvP. That never changed, even the GTA community largely would rather run missions with friends without the bs. They keep pushing forced PvP and it's stupid.
Yep! Grew up with clint eastwood when I was younger and I even had a fake revolver that's lever hits a small white bullet that explodes (but does not shoot) to make a realistic bullet sound.
Rockstar should be ashamed for neglecting such a good game…just sad 😐
Fr🤦🏻♀️
Man they have to focus on other projects too understand that not just telling
@@s7anu what gta 5? They have been milking it aside from gta 6 they should just update red dead and leave gta 5 alone
@@paytheprice24 facts they’re milking tf out of gta 5. I don’t think I’ve played regular gta in about a year or 2
as a Rockstar North tester, how dare you not see the gem the game is how dare you listen to moronic fools trolling you, we spent all the time from since red dead redemption making rdr 2 testers spent years mate years in making this game work smooth, we did stuff no player would think of doing just to make sure nothing wrong would happen down to making sure every special way out of bounds could work propperly! yeah there ya go truth is out in specific spots it was and is intended to get outa bounds in others nope.
back in 2019 on christmas day, right around the moonshine release, me and about 5-6 of my best friends all hopped on RDO and just hung out, drinking, listening to the holiday music in game for hours. None of us had family to celebrate with at the time and it just worked perfectly. Still one of my favorite gaming memories of all time
damn glad you enjoyed it tho bro.
Lmao
that's what a social gaming platform is all about...
progress...money...unlockables... yeah yeah...
it's all about the EXPERIENCE... Glad you had a good one
I wish I had friends to do something like that lol
Which is a shame
cause they been working on GTA6 tbh
Honestly, here’s what I would have done to fix this:
1. Train heists
2. Bank heists
3. Base of operations on a riverboat to plan and execute heists alone or with friends with purchasable upgrades like private poker games, private ammo shop, private weapon shop, and so on.
4. Mexico
I disagree with the last one stuff like that should definitely stay in single player
‘Base of operations on a riverboat” that’s genius seriously we as the community could finish this game off perfectly online R* should let us
As a fellow Mexican they would really save the game if they add train heist and add a mexico type theme
real and based
It was an Epic Game and Experience.
@@rottenapple_ cap…they are a multi millionaire dollar company, they could never run out of resources
This whole comment thread needs to check the sales numbers. Y'all act like RDR2 wasn't a huge fuckin payday 🤣
@BradynLee I take it you're "THAT" guy?
I have a job and still love posse free roam fights. I know people like me make up 10% of the rdo community but it’s a western game not a flower picking simulator.
The beta days feel like yesterday but also a million years ago. I would say less than 1% of current players now actually played during the beta.
Its was good time with friends
@@DechartBeer It really was dude, for all of the countless faults with the beta I have nothing but fond memories.
Yeah, we all left after being patient with Rockstar and being shitted on over and over again..
This is the only game that made me say “Wow this is just something else” the graphics, gameplay, side missions just every little detail they put into this game was something I never played before. It was so addicting just to hunt , explore places & have encounters with random strangers. Glad I was living in the moment at that time.. just crazy they didn’t take it serious or put anything into it much after
I’ve only had a few games do this for me (I went from ps2 to ps4 so I missed a LOT of great games in that generation) in my life
God of War PS4,
Last of Us Pt 1,
GTA V (it was the first next gen game I played, the first time seeing good graphics on a *good* TV, Spyro was the most graphically complex game I had played up until that point XD (that’s actually a bit of an over exaggeration, PS2 had some GREAT games, King Kongs graphics were amazing!)
Red Dead Redemption 2 gave me that feeling I got playing the prologue to GTA V again, seeing the snow and stuff, just, really was like a Deja Vu moment lol
GTA V didnt keep me immersed nearly as steadily as RDR2 has
It's not ruined.... But it's nowhere at its potential either. We have all played hundreds of hours here.
Over 2000 plus on my base xbox one and still going on xbox series s
It’s ruined*
If they dont come back and show it some attention soon, I'm scared it will fade into obscurity
@@Sticko-Man as a player who has been here since beta. They never cared, GTA online makes too much money for them to care they want to profit and put in the least amount of effort possible. I’ve never seen a game so beautifully crafted abandoned like that it makes me angry as fuck
@@scheminmo602 Same here. 4500 hours logged since Beta. I'm devastated because it really is a good game
I didnt even know her name was Jessica so, just goes to show how memorable that telenovella shit was.
No way, Madam Nazar > All
Yea Rockstar lost me as a fan and customer.
Press circle to fart
I actually miss the beginning days of RDO. Good memories.
I haven't played in 2 years but if rockstar would bring everything in to the game that has been discussed and stay in top of new content, fixes etc, I would pay a subscription fee and buy gold. The game is too good to just "let it sit". Even though I don't play, I still follow cat and keep up.
I agree with you. 100%
Also bring a ps5 update because it’s to dark and blurry when it’s night that’s why I stopped playing lol I run into every tree and fence
Same, subbed just to keep updated with the game that I once loved playing before boredom
Yeah, I'd actually pay $5-10 a month to get a good RDO. I love the western freeroam aspect, and RDO can be more historically accurate than story, if you try.
Keep dreaming 😂
The initial collector role and the unlimited daily challenge streak combo was so op
2018... so weird, feels like yesterday.
LOL

The average Red Dead player is not a kid. That would be GTA V.
This video unlocked so many memories :')
I havent play the game in months, in which i still have a cowgirl/bounty huntress since beta days that i kinda miss :')
I met new and amazing people (and i still have contact with them on discord), i was under a big ass crisis in college around 2019 when "frontier pursuits" arrived, so that helped to have my mind in a "relaxed mood" after all the tests/exams and shit that happened that year... it was like a "revival" for me, and also I learned more english by playing with other people, since my country speaks spanish
Thanks cat, maybe one day i will give her a properly goodbye :')
One day I was playing red dead online and this guy was on a mic walking by me in valantine and said"don't mind me,I'm just boot-scoot n boogin". It's little stuff like this that make this game worth going back to.
The game will always have the amazing story mode ❤
i love revisiting the story mode every 2 years and just replaying it
RDO is one of my all time favorites. I had years of fun but it's over now after 580 levels. I'm on to Elden Ring.
Is online more chill now?
@@foodank_atr817 yes, most times. You might see a hostile posse but youll definitely know if the entirety of Valentine or somewhere is dead ☠️

I was thinking how nice it’d be if they remastered RDR1 and just added some new features to online for players
Well there isn't enough online content to keep players interested beyond rank 100

i played alot of the red dead online and what killed it for me was the amount of trolls in the game, i had insanely overpowered players chugging tonics that were basically bullet proof, there only goal was to chase me around spawn killing me i even tried hiding in stores and the knew how to throw bombs inside the safe zone to kill me.
i recently played it again with friends for a few days and it sucks. you cant even go to the stable anymore cause its bugged. but it still can be fun with friends.
You da man.
There are a few games that I love.
And those games tend to be abandoned by their developers 😞😥
Same as gta, they just keep adding online jobs to the game
What i felt playing rdr online was a great emptiness, the story of Arthur is soo great, and the world feels alive, the online is just bland
Back in the early days of RDO there were no ghost sessions me and friends had similar problems where every dip in the connection would just kick us. It was frustrating AF and everytime i spawned in am empty session i would jump for joy
What this game really needed was some single player story expansion
Yup, I remember fleeing back to my camp over and over because as soon as I left it everyone knew and would come after me.
I remember the early Beta days exploiting the ringneck creek bug (still there) where you cast into it and fish just washed up along it. Get your 20 and sell them in Rhodes to make $.
I also exploited the cougar-carcass-into-horse-stable bug and the other where putting a wagon over a treasure chest would allow you to open it over and over again to rack up gold (I think i got like 100GB)
Thanks for staying loyal even when rockstar abandoned red dead
I just came from the most recent video. I played red dead Online since the very first day it released for ultimate edition players on ps4. I remember most of the stuff that went on in this game over the years. I enjoyed frontier pursuits and moonshiner dlcs. For me the no animal spawns started after frontier pursuits. I was looking forward to the trader role the most but this issue caused me to take 4 or so months just to rank up the trader role to max. I ended up enjoying the other roles way more than trader at the time. It’s unfortunate rockstar abandoned this game had so much wasted potential.
The Good, The Bad and The ugly but most importantly the nostalgia 😔💔
Unfinished or not, I'm still happy to have this game to play.
I think the gaming community is tired of greedy companies even if they make quality games (which is rare in itself)
Our RDO characters are the richest homeless people ever
@@Montgomeryyy LOL
I still think the original collector role played a big part in RDO's death. The fact that the easy grind had a good payout combined with lack of content meant nobody needed to buy goldbars. In fact a major part of the player base had enough to buy all the new content for the foreseeable future which gave Rockstar little reason to invest.
Pretty amazing how I bought a real S&W M&P 40 shield a few years ago...and it was cheaper than the Mauser in Red Dead Online!
But... Rockstar joined the bandwagon of corporate company greed. Ignoring their fan base, not bothering to fix their broken content, not investing in a stable anti-cheat system (even free games like Fortnite and Fall Guys have one) and instead they go for cash grab antics, milking one game and abandoning the rest, slap the faces to RDR fans with the copy-paste RDR1 instead of a remaster and as TGG pointed out in a video the day I put this, Rockstar's CEO gets a doubled salary and went against what the company put in a statement back in 2021 to VGC;
"What we've done differently than the competition is that we don't just port our title's, we actually take the time to do the very best job we can making the title different for the newer technology that we're launching on."
...so what are you doing with a 13 year old game being released to the "modern" PlayStation console?
Sorry, I'm one very disappointed Red Dead fan right now...
What are youdoing with a 13 years old game? I tell you what, you charge full price for it.
Losers.
The fact they neglected such a masterpiece of a game, leaves me in doubt for future titles.
Unfortunately they dont lose anything. From a moneymaking standpoint their decision makes sense but it really is a shame they abandoned the game
Lol
Just because you and some friends had some fun recently doesn't mean that it isn't ruined. It is ruined, which is why Rockstar pulled devs off the game and it isn't being updated.
You're the audience that ruins these games
@@Largentina. no, i think y'all just played too much. 😅 Old players out, new players in
The players who played RDO from the start had all that fun.. especially messing around with the lasso.
Imagine if rockstar did what the players wanted and sold red dead to another company that has the time to keep making content, would be a better place
Not gonna happen (unfortunately)
Many reasons why this would not happen.
Another company can't manage RDR2
2:06 I know this is relevant to the video, but that was hilarious when the guy went flying when you were fighting him
I actually like the current state. It’s got enough fun for not too much hassle. People are a lot more cool and non aggressive these days you can actually approach others without being shot instantly.
Yeah but it needs more stuff to do in lol 187 got everything and literally no point in playing
@@maxinorge absolutely, but at least the community is mature enough to appreciate now if and when we do get more content
Read video. I remember when this first came out . Lobbies were full and it was Chaos. I Loved it
Yh
Very expensive in game currency✅
Battle royale✅
Battle pass✅

Basically 90% of AAA games nowdays
I have always had one "hot" take about Frontier Pursuits: Expecting more updates of that scale was unreasonable. I never looked at that as a normal update, but the end of beta with the CORE GAMEPLAY being added.
@@shamitsharma785not if you look at GTA Online, which is what RDO is compared to.
kind of reminds me of how GTAV online started out, except they had stores you could rob and heists you could do.
Such a perfect storm from such an experienced studio, almost makes you think they were doing it on purpose.
I think the part i hate most online is that the 3 main storys cost a fuck ton of gold for a beginner
They should’ve just outsourced the development to a studio that would actually pour sweat and tears to this masterpiece…
All I wanted was to be a Deputy and rent a little building or a room somewhere. Literally police the town.
first step rdo real dead when they change gold reward on daily chalannge !
Was an important step but not the first one :)
Before he even said I definitely remembered the good old 22 varmint days that was wild
I'm just disgusted with Rockstar. It's not the same "Rockstar" anymore, it's led by entirely different people now.
"Rockstar" only cares about money now, not their fans or the games themselves anymore. Whatever gets them money, they leech onto it and disregard everything else.
The leader take early retire from business.. and enjoy life.. that's why
Yep.
That's exactly how it went.
My friends and I used to do what we called satchel hunting in the beginning, feathers, fish, small game and pelts. We lost so many pelts from getting disconnected, usually $100 and up.
That was when I used to love this game.
“Women rifle”
fr
It didnt die..Still thousands of players and actually just started playing at 2 months ago and loved it
As far as Read Dead Online has fallen,no one can take away from the masterpiece that is main story of Red Dead Redemption 2 and tbh I’ve always just preferred starting a new playthrough of story mode than actually playing Online, it simply has no soul or immersion unlike Story Mode
I remember having my daily streak going for like 120 days, then my streak broke because we went out of town for a few days.
I was lowkey sad.
Yep. I am a 73 year old player, not interested in PVP. I've just finished 100% on the Story Line, including 100% story line, 100% challenges and 100% compendium. Whew. 1000 hours. I took it slowly and patiently. That is the game I like.
The main killing factor for me is when they blocked the ability to go to guarma in online
This game had way more potential to be an online RP game instead of pvp like gta online.
I just pray that I somehow end up loving GTA6 as much as I love this game...
The way you say "alligator" is the funniest thing I've ever heard
I just got back into RDR after being away from almost the beginning. Still a good online game. I dont see much wrong with it. Lots of new content to play through, and getting killed every so often is to be expected. I just ignore it most of the time, or load into a story mission. The one thing they do need to add, though, I agree, is classic bank and train robberies. Game's been out for years and you still can't rob a bank in a mmo online western
I have a bad feeling that the release of rdr2 was the last breath of rockstar good old days
I've had much more fun just replaying the story every once in a while.
dude i feel like the biggest thing that sucks is that everyone has been talking about this but none ever talks about redm D:
Rockstar is in a steep decline. They never understood even back with RDR1 that most of us could give a crap about PvP. That never changed, even the GTA community largely would rather run missions with friends without the bs. They keep pushing forced PvP and it's stupid.
Is it in decline or do you just not like what they’re doing?
I never played online for red dead for the sole fact that stuff was locked behind Gold bars
I miss carcass fishing, and defending my dead bass from griefers that saw I was carcass fishing. :)
Yep! Grew up with clint eastwood when I was younger and I even had a fake revolver that's lever hits a small white bullet that explodes (but does not shoot) to make a realistic bullet sound.
