This was great, and I found myself chuckling at the competition, and your daughter in the middle, judging. I don't have a dehydrator, so I'll use the oven; thank you!
When storing them in oil, you can freeze them indefinitely.... and in the refrigerator, they can easily last a year or more. I just finished some today that were about 18 months old. The oil is delicious as well. Have a happy day!! :D
I mix my cherry tomatoes cut in half with olive oil, sprinkled with salt and ground dried garlic and a little pepper. Put in the oven for 3 to 4 hours. They come out like juicy raisins and yummy to eat. I store them in the refrigerator.
Nice recipe, good family and a very cute little girl. I would try this drying tomato recipe at home because we have also a family house with garden for our grandmother.
I worked in an Italian shop for years. The sundries tomatoes are supposed to be chewy not crisp. Also, I think I would like mama’s chips for long term storage! Loved the video! Maybe try making Mozz next time to go with. I subscribed! Go mom!
I’ve always heard that you should put less salt than normal because when dehydrated/dried, not only does the tomato flavor intensify, but the saltiness of the salt does as well. I just started watching this video, so we’ll see the end result!!! I’ve just recently gotten into dehydrating and put my first tomatoes in the dehydrator last night, but I did not salt them. I’ll comment when it’s over. 😀 Yes, as I thought too much salt on the dehydrated ones, but both probably GREAT otherwise!!! 💕🌸💕
One thing else you might enjoy; save all your tomato peels and dehydrate them bone dry then crush to a powder.Jars of powder will keep long long time or until someone discovers that three teaspoons in a coffee cup of hot water with a little celery salt is the best spot to drown a fried cheese sandwich hahahahahaha also good to gently flavor stews and casseroles
Great video and your daughter is sweet! I have only dehydrated tomatoes never in oven. I will now:) I came over from Roots and Refuge channel and I subscribed to your channel:) Looking forward to watching more of your video's. We have a channel too and a mini homestead, meaning we have chickens. I cook recipes, can, dehydrate among other things on our channel:) Thanks for sharing your tomato competition. Blessings, Judy( Arkansas)

Hi,
Very grateful for you. Do I have to make a slit in the tomatoes half to let the water out as it was dry on one side only?
Thank you
Mamakirbs wins. Congratulations. You had my vote.
I wonder if you salted and then let the salt draw the moisture out and drain before starting the drying process, if it would speed up the process
I love you and your family. And those cute chickens.

Since the video, have you considered adding red pepper flacks, Olive Oil & basil midway in the drying process?
Can also make tomato powder from the dehydrator and vacuum seal in jar for long life
Great video ! Thank you for sharing :) God Bless you and your precious family. :)
