I love the new placement of your table and how you filmed from this new angle! Also, I'm so thrilled about this series. Your videos just keep getting better and better and more inspiring.
If you buy a small inexpensive food dehydrator you can use the whole tomato, put it in glass jars and they will keep for a couple of years with no waste. No power needed and you can use the dehydrator inside or outside. That way it doesn't heat up your kitchen in the summer
Ooo la la! We love dried tomatoes. We like to dry ours in our dehydrator and then grind them up (almost to powder) in our vitamix. Saves a lot of space and is great in so many recipes - we especially love it on popcorn and hummus!
So, how would you make it where it can last a lot longer than a month? And how can I do it without having to put them in the fridge? I don't have a whole lot of room in my fridge.
THANK YOU for this old, practically forgotten knowledge.❤️ I still have tomatoes ripening in my garden. My husband LOVES sun-dried tomatoes in Alfredo w/pasta. I’ll be making this for sure!
Hi Shaye, Love this video instruction! If I froze these, would I put them in EVOO in a jar to avoid freezer burn? Thanks everyone for your input. Julie 🌷
I love the angle for this video! It's so great to learn this method. If I wb these so that they are shelf stable, should I just process the same amount of time that I would do for tomato sauce?
I'm curious. You said to store them in refrigerator, but at the end of the video, you were placing them on a self. So is it OK to store on an open shelf at room temperature?
Isn’t there an increased risk of botulism when storing low acidic foods in oil? I’m not sure what temp inhibits the bacteria, but I remember reading that refrigeration is not cold enough to prevent the bacteria from growing.
I believe some tomatoes are on the border of being considered acidic, and that it is recommended to add lemon juice to ensure a low enough pH to inhibit botulism. If garlic or herbs are added to the oil it needs to be frozen to prevent botulism. If refrigerated any oil containing garlic/herbs should be thrown out if not used within 4 days. Botulism is rare, but it’s so devastating when it occurs. I’ve included the link to the CDC for anyone looking for more info. www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/communication/home-canning-and-botulism.html#:~:text=More%20Ways%20to%20Prevent%20Botulism&text=Refrigerate%20homemade%20oils%20infused%20with,loosened%20so%20they%20get%20air.
Do these stay hood as long as your lightly oil roasted oil packed tomatoes? I have some in the fridge currently that seem to be hood they are about a month old and I keep scooping a bit out when needed..guess I’m not sure how long I can keep using them..
You know what, I’m actually going to retract that statement. Logically, they should stay good longer, but I couldn’t say for sure. I feel iffy about her other oil packed tomato recipe. If you’re worried, I would just do one of the other options she mentioned, like vacuum packing or keeping the dehydrated tomatoes in the freezer, as they’ll take up less space than fresh.
Normally I love the down to earth presentations of your show but yikes this photoshopped version does not work! 😂My guess is that you are traveling? or perhaps dabbling in Ai. I love the real you in the real kitchen. xoxo
Beautiful as usual. BTW, what colour is your nail varnish? I presume it's Toups & Co. It's gorgeous. It would be great if they had a UK stockist. Maybe one day. Customs charges are really expensive over here in the UK.
Love the angle of the video this time! It’s fun to get better view of that side of the kitchen. And we ❤ the cooking community so much in our home!
It seems bigger and brighter!

So excited about this series! Also, I
love the angle you're shooting this video from.....love the beautiful peek into your dining room.

Great idea! 🍅 😋 Could not help it- I was arranging your copper pans into a melody! 🎶
I get it 😊

We're addicted to these. ❤
That's how I preserve mine too. I use my dehydrator to dehydrate but the oven is just as efficient. Nice work!
Trying this with my very plentiful cherry tomatoes. Thanks for sharing!
And use the oil for salad dressing etc.🌱💚❤️🍅🫒🥬
The room is fabulous with the table turned round that way!
Thank you for sharing END OF SUMMER recipes. Everyone loves fall so much and so do I but the end of summer is a special time too!
I always, always walk away from your videos inspired. Many thanks!
Love this idea! I'm definitely gonna try this with some of my tomatoes!
Excited for this series!!

I am so excited about the make your own recipe! I’m all about that. Can’t wait! I will start it off with the sun-dried tomatoes here.
Thank you!!! This is a way to preserve that I've not jumped into yet, but I'm so excited to try it out!
Surper fantastic...I have 200 tomato 🍅 plants 🪴 😄 going to try this..what a blessing swamp in tomato 🍅
Love the idea of this new series!!
I like this new viewpoint into the house

I love your Make Your Own video!! What a great idea! Thank you! xx
Love this series!
Would like to see a "how to" use the sun dried tomatoes in recipes.
I love the angle for this video! It's so great to learn this method. If I wb these so that they are shelf stable, should I just process the same amount of time that I would do for tomato sauce?
Do you use the olive oil too? I’m definitely going to try these! Thank you
I'm excited for this!
I got a tray of my homegrown organic Roma's if the oven! Thanks
I'm wondering about all that oil in the jars. Do you then use it in cooking?
You can.
I'm curious. You said to store them in refrigerator, but at the end of the video, you were placing them on a self. So is it OK to store on an open shelf at room temperature?
That is her walk-in frig in their cellar
How long would we process these to water bath can them? this would make them shelf stable for how long?
I’d do it the same time for tomatoes. At least 40 minutes.
Do you have a food dehydrator? I see more people getting them, but not sure what the foods will taste like after dried out.
Isn’t there an increased risk of botulism when storing low acidic foods in oil? I’m not sure what temp inhibits the bacteria, but I remember reading that refrigeration is not cold enough to prevent the bacteria from growing.
@@aryelrigano903no, tomatoes are not. Most varieties nowadays are over 4.6 (the borderline pH range).

250f is 120c. You had me worried there, 250c will burn pretty fast lol
Just found your channel, love to try the sun dried tomatoes,I didn’t hear what type of spice you liked and where can I get it from great cideo
Can we do this from frozen tomatoes? After they've thawed of course.
Can you reuse the oil after you use up the tomatoes?
I use mine to flavor pasta and salads because it tastes extra good!
Do you have to wait for the tomatoes to cool to pack them?
Does it matter what kind of olive oil you use? Refined, unrefined, extra virgin? Any information is appreciated!
Is there some reason why we can’t order the fine arts anymore? Is there a different website? This link is not working
What can one use the oil for after one eaten the tomatos?
Did you use Extra virgin or normal olive oil?
Fresh new view. Nice!
Looks good
Nice..going to watch it now 😊😊🎉🎉
How long for water bath canning???
May I ask what the point is if you remove 50% of the tomato?
Great!!!❤
Celcius or fahrenheit?

Sun drieds will stay good for longer since there is lower water content in the tomatoes.

Green screen?
Is this a green screen? Scale looks so weird
No.
Likely shooting on a wide angle! That can warp the perspective a bit!
She moved her kitchen around - talked about it on the podcast :)
Beautiful as usual.

If you were given the opportunity to move and live in Italy or Europe with your family, would you?
What can you do with the oil?
Cook! It's amazing!
Sun dried in the oven ?😂😂😂😂😂
Dear Lord. Had to stomach a Kamala ad.
Will not subscribe to a channel that does not have recipe in the post...😢
*PromoSM* 😊
