LOVE THIS, thank you. I have crocs for camp shoes - but not the ugly ones ;) there's a great range in crocs that weigh very little and wear them with thick socks at camp. they actually look good enough to get me into qantas club!! true story! things have changed at crocs ;)
Wow must really look good if you got into quantas club! 😆🙀 I actually bought a pair of watershoes recently...lightweight but we will see how they perform 😊
Really enjoying your vids! Easy to understand, great delivery, and so accessible to people like myself who are hiking in a budget. Doing 1st C2C in October and your vids have really helped! Thanks! Keep up the awesome content 🙏
I use ECCO OFFROADS as my alternative shoe when hiking. Very light weight, comfortable and you can actually hike in them if the terrain is easy. Loving the videos, thanks.
Loving your videos thank you Dori - am planning my E2E Bibb walk and your Kalenji Trail Running Pants on your lighterpack site sound excellent but unfortunately I could not find them easily online - do you have a link for me please - many thanks Heather
Hi @Heather! I have updated the link now, sorry about that. They are actually mens pants, but they fit fine. They don't have a women's version. One thing to keep in mind that I experienced personally is that I wouldn't use them if you are going through thick bush scrub (such as in Tassie for example). I feel like they are a bit too fragile for that - but hey, they are light :D
Thank you so much! 😀 Yeah, I kind of cursed at it a few times because of the size and the weight, and the fact that I wasn't allowed to use it most of the time 😂😆. But still, am happy I brought it with me 😀
I like your videos. It is always good to see videos from local hikers. If I can take the liberty - there are a few small things I might mention. You say you have a Samsung S10 phone (I have the S10+). Great phones. They are totally waterproof so you do not need that bag you hang around your neck. I have jumped in the pool with mine. I actually got myself a waterproof case for the phone (about $15 on ebay) as added drop protection and it also comes with a screen protector. They are great value, but not so much for the waterproof side of things. Also that 10AH powerbank will not charge your phone 3.5 times as you mentioned. The S10 has a 3.1AH battery, so you will be lucky to get 2 full charges out of that powerbank. You only get out about 65% of the rated charge power of a powerbank, if you are lucky. So, 2 charges. When you buy your new powerbank, think about getting a PD (ie USB-C) capable unit. This will charge your phone much faster. If you are in town a lot, also think about getting a PD charger - so that you can charge the powerbank a lot faster. Those big powerbanks can take ages to recharge. I actually got a dual PD wall charger - so that when in town I can charge the phone and powerbank at the same time. You mention the toothbrush and toothpaste. I now use toothpaste tablets - tiny little blue things that you chew then brush with. Heaps lighter. There are also other options (charcoal powder and the like). You also mention getting a 25g stove - ie the BRS-3000. I have used one for years and they are great. Highly recommend. I also refill my gas canisters (with butane) for all my trips around home. That might not work that well in NZ as I am thinking it is a bit colder over there! But something to think about. I would love to take a drone myself. For one thing the weight puts me off. And I believe that they are banned in Australian National Parks as well. Great videos...
Hi Kerry! Omg, thank you so much for all the tips! I really appreciate it 😀🙏 Good to know the S10+ has passed the pool test haha :). I am definitely getting the toothpaste tablets...any tips on the best ones? The powerbank technicals have always been a bit of a struggle to understand for me, so thank you for explaining. I do notice that I charge my phone when the battery is not that low, so maybe that's why I mentioned the 3.5 charges. But yes, I definitely need a bigger powerbank...I will probably get the Anker 20,000mA for my Bib Track adventure :D About the drone: wasn't sure about Australian NP, but in NZ for sure most places drones are forbidden...so it was a bit of a mental struggle carrying that all the way haha. It's a shame they are banned for us hikers, but tbh, I would get frustrated if there was a drone flying over me, taking away the serenity 😆 Sounds like you have a very lightweight kit...do you have a list somewhere? I need some upgrades, my gear is getting old hahaha 😆 Cheers 😀
@@DorisHikingAdventures Sure - here is my Bibbulmun list . lighterpack.com/r/95txi2. I was going on the Bib in April, but of course that all died! I am waiting for the WA border to open and I will be off. My summer list is lighterpack.com/r/bjwhuv. Currently I am hoping to start early September, as long as the borders with Queensland open, of course. It is not looking good. A good (perhaps better) brand than Anker is Xiaomi. About half the price and just as good, if not better. I got the PD model. I don't remember the toothpaste pills - but I got them from the USA when I was buying something else. From Litesmith, I think. But do a quick Google - heaps of different types are sold in Australia. I don't find them as good as toothpaste. But if you want to save space/weight, they are good enough. One tip with the recharging the phone thing. Only recharge to 80%. That last 20% takes proportionally more time and power. Sort of an exponential thing. I was a bit surprised at your kit. You obviously hike a lot (certainly more than I do), but you have a lot of heavy gear. But as you say, it all costs a lot of money.
@@DorisHikingAdventures Checkout Litesmith.com. I have their thumbprint type toothbrush and their toothpaste tablets. Also their sitpad, Liteload towels, packliner and Flexair pillows. It is all great stuff and ultralight. Those pillows are very unusual - they basically fold up to nothing. Only 24g. I have used these as my main pillow, but frankly the S2S Aeros is more comfortable. I take a Flexair as a spare pillow (luxury, I know!). Their sitpad is also excellent. Much smaller and lighter than the Thermarest one. It actually slides into the foundation of my backpack - between the pack and my body. Fits perfectly and extra padding!

Good one! I do take a towel, also from decathlon, but the smallest there is. Maybe An option for you? You took a 3kg drone with you? How much did your pack weigh in total? And yes, lightweight gear is expensive! 😀 groetjes
Thank you! Decathlon is very good for some things and cheap -ish 😀 I definitely need a smaller towel haha :D This is total weight breakdown: lighterpack.com/r/llbzpb ...drone plus accessories was probably closer to 2.5kg but still waaay too much 😆
