Haha I think I usually take half a supermarket with me as well... but to be covered in a separate video sometime :) Happy Tramping!

Great video! I'm Australian and for half a second I was like 'where's her snake bite kit?.. oh wait' 🤣

Haha lol, I'll have to touch base with you about what to include in my pack before heading to Australia on a hiking trip 🤣👍

Great advice . New Zealand is a long narrow country and our weather can change so fast .

Great to hear what you're carrying. Just starting to plan the gear list for Te Araroa (spreadsheet, weight, cost etc.) so this helps (along with your other videos).

I’ve got my full TA and day hike gear lists up on my website now as well, so head over there and click the “Gear List” tab to check them out. Good luck for the rest of your prep!!

great tips. Especially the trowel. Nice to see your ever changing backdrop. I don’t think most people realize how fast the weather can change in New Zealand. Maybe I missed it but do you carry any fire method?

Thanks Dan. And yes, it is a good example of how much weather can change. And to think, this video was shot in just one hour! No you didn't miss it, I did. I do always carry with me my Bic lighter for emergencies. To be honest, more often than not these days I'm also taking my full cooking kit with me on day hikes too (as I like a cuppa when I stop for lunch) so usually the lighter is part of that kit. But of course, it is also a good idea to have a fire starting method with you anyway!
