The public is begging for a model 2 car or more importantly its price to enable the transition to electric cars on mass. Either make it or lower prices on model 3 and Y. I am thinking about a EV for the sake of the climate and and to avoid the next queue at the petrol station when oil production slumps again

Yes, it's noteworthy that Volvo is also aiming for a $25,000 price point, similar to Tesla. I believe this alignment in pricing goals between Volvo and Tesla is not merely coincidental
It makes no sense to have a taxi only for 2. There are enough cases out there that require more seats and luggage space. Hence it makes more sense for Tesla and its loyal customer base 8:58 to create a robotaxi fleet based on current model 3/Y traded off from customers for a new car.
Model 2 has its own target audience and should not interfere with the robotsxi idea, that as long as level 5 is not achieved and legally approved and accepted by the public, is still just a (sci-fi) fiction and a viable source of income.

Yes but Elon has not really refuted Reuters exact claim directly in saying "there definitely will be a model 2". He and his exec just say they are lying (but about what, the article made many claims). Also, Elon is famous for not really wanting a model 2. I saw one video where his execs begged him to do it whereas he only wanted robo taxis for the low income people. I am not convinced. And this is a shame since cheap Chinese EVs are banned here.
Even the biggest Tesla supping accounts such as Adam Lambert are posting the model 2 has been cancelled. Yet so many accounts are still claiming it’s just around the corner
Sawyer Merritt said Model 2 and robotaxi is based on the same chassis, it's basically the same car but Model 2 got a steering and pedal. If that come true, then the prices of these two cars will not be too different. Model 2 still affordable for low-income people

Sick of hearing about the model 2 & all the bullshit with news & lies. The mode Y is selling so good it's almost irrelevant. Musk is getting sucked in with market share.
Model Y is good, but now Tesla show sign of slowing its Model Y production. On the company's website, you can't no longer custom order Model Y anymore. Instead of that, you can only buy Model Y left from inventory.
That's why new model is needed. And EU is starving for a compact car.

Because it has been a long time since Tesla produced a mass-market vehicle, stockholders and Wall Street are not happy about it. Customers also need something new, especially with competitors releasing new models every year. The motto "change or die" is a daily story in this industry.
You don't have to worry about the Model 2 impacting Model Y sales negatively. Once the Model 2 is in the market, Tesla will adjust the production frequency of the Model Y to avoid cannibalization between the two models.
