@@km7101 I guess it depends on what you'd define as the break in period, I'd imagine most of them are tested for a certain amount of time then rebuilt to be "brand new" but with confirmed working parts and confirmed reliability You'd still technically have to break in the engine if I'm right (ngl could be completely wrong I'm not sure on how Lambo does it just a guess) but a lot less than if it was completely brand new, would mostly be getting all the seals and gaskets and stuff fully seated and such Like I said I'm not 100%, I'd think they'd test the engines/trans before hand given its an expensive car with a hybrid system that would need to be calibrated so even if they don't test the engine for any amount of real mileage they'd still have to test it with the hybrid system if they have any kind of real QC at the factory
the most impressive thing about plaid is not its beating all this expensive dinosaur, it is that it don't require you to perform extremely expensive maintenance every few thousand miles, or having to rebuild its tranny or oil leak despite all the maintenance

Tesla developed carbon sleeved motors for the Plaid in colab with SpaceX, advantage is that htey can spin at some crazy high rpms (over 20k) while maintaining the power. To put my words in action the Taycan Turbo S (don't know for the new one but from what I've seen is very similar only with power increase) had a difficult to develop and heavy two speed gearbox and managed to retain 60% of full power @250kmh, Plaid has 90% power remaining at over 300kmh with one gear. Top speed of the Model S Plaid when unlocked is probably around 360kmh if not more (some guys unlocked it and it easily did 216mph, you have a video). Now try to imagine what could Tesla do from a proper 2 door sports car for 300k if their family sedan can beat a 1500hp Chiron in a 1/2 mile race and even in braking (at least with track pack)...

No doubt Lambo could have invested in making a lightning fast electric performance car but they have to cater to a customer base that values experience over speed (i.e. it needs a V12). The Lucid Air Saphire is quicker than a Plaid showing that using electric tech to make a car quick in a straight line really isn't that hard. Besides we're reaching the limits of performance. Eventually ICE cars and EV's will become indistinguishable in performance cause they both have the same massive hurdle. Rubber and Tarmac.
@@jonnowocky8179 Not true, actually. The stopping distance for the Model S Plaid is actually better than, say, a Porsche Taycan. They fade very quickly though, so in track conditions they're very bad. Most cars don't actually stop faster with bigger brakes. The stopping distance is determined mostly by the grip of the tyres. As long as the brakes are strong enough to lock up the wheels they're no longer the determining factor.

Soft limiter is a limiter to limit the loudness of a vehicle otherwise meaning if it was without one it wouldn't be road legal do to regulations it also could depending on the car limit the torque of a vehicle preventing it from overloud of to much power

unofrtunately this is the price we have to pay to keep Internal Combustion Engines. Electrics are objectively better at drag racing (with STOCK cars, ICE's have the advantage when you start modifying them) because of the instant power delivery. 1000hp EV is almost similar to an 1100hp ICE.

Being affordable would be nice but at the performance specs of the Plaid and the Revuelto I don't think that is possible. With that said I love my FK8 Honda Civic Type. I am never selling that car. It is a fraction of the cost of these cars, it is reliable, it is practical it has one of the best 6 speed manuals in the business.

If you think a souped up Jeep is the future.. or more practical and family friendly.. lol.. well.. good, enjoy it. I know what works best in my world. Its 1,020hp not 1,200. Which is essentially the same as the Lambo. Yet it is heavier, has more room, huge trunk and frunk, cost nothing to run... its ok to hate on Tesla, still impressive

Check Haggerty's Hyunday ionic n 5 beat 3 other much more prestigious brands, including Lamborghini, I think. It's just crazy, the power and torque of electric drive. I think electric motor should be used in conjuction with forced induction ICE (e.g., turbo), where electric drives the low RPM while FI drives the higher RPM. It would be complex but interesting.

Preferably just show the races uncut, it's dumb that my less than ten second quarter pass takes a minute of time on the video and as many fast cuts to different angles as 90's techno music video. Keep the runs chronologically running in order and views so, that we actually can see how the races go. Some runs are like old police chases on movies - it makes it look like it is cut from fifteen different races. One is leading, they are even, one is five meters behind, they are even, five meters, even....
Why does it matter if it's a 9.8 or 9.9 is anyone really going to make a buying decision based on a tenth of a second, at those low of times consistency is very rare anyway.

Honestly this is the Lamborghini flagship that we'll probably have for the next 10-15 years and it's lost everything so far. It's barely faster than a 918. Ever since the Veneno, Lambos have looked waaay faster than they are. And this seems to wanna break down if you race it too much like it was built by some amateur tuner and not Lamborghini. WOW! Revuelto winning the rolling race at sport mode and increasing the gap was NOT expected. What was also surprising is that unlike the other drag races the lamborghini was reducing the gap. I tell ya that lamborhini has a lot more to show

Easier to sit in, doesn't break all the time, uses a lot less fuel and if you are obsessed with horsepower you can tune it as much as you want because it has the best engine ever made for a road car and that is a engineering fact. Even the inline 6 of the R-34 isn't anywhere near as great as the R-35's engine.
I expected more from this lambo. It's performance is very Lamborghini with big numbers on paper and then it fails to impress in reality. Not being able to easily take on a plaid or SF90 is a pretty big fail considering this is their brand new top of the line car

Good races, but I find it odd that state of charge which we know is an important factor is never shown and that most people even on unprepped surfaces can run 9.2 to 9.5 quarter mile times.
Yeah I have a 22 S Plaid and I run 9.2-9.4s all day with a dragy on normal unprepped roads.I don't think I have a deagy run above 9.6 SOC matters a lot too...I run always above 80%
They accidentally showed it, started at 78%, last races probably in the 50% range. I could run my Plaid in full rain uphill and get faster times than carwow.
I love watching these races. But it is impressive a model S design originally from 2012 with generational updates are beating and competing with the latest cutting edge tech from the legacy exotics is kinda nuts. Also, if the Tesla roadster ever materializes… it will be fun to see all these videos recreated.
Is it just me or does that Plaid not look as blisteringly quick as others tested? The hot brakes disabled the traction control and stability since the brakes are what are used for those functions...which also likely means that the Plaid has pad temp sensors, otherwise it's a calculated temperature based on the speed/deceleration. The lambo's error likely came from his sliding backwards while drifting...the system in AWD cars has a longitudinal G sensor to compare forward acceleration to wheel acceleration. Some of these faults clear simply when the condition no longer exists(and a key cycle) and some require normal driving so the system can see normal wheel speeds, yaw rate, G's from the lateral and longitudinal G sensors to clear.
imagine- You buying a brand new expensive lambo and waiting at a signal, you see a plaid by your side. You want to show off your lambo so you hit the throttle hard as it turns green but to your surprise u see that a family car that cost less than a fraction of your lambo is getting away from you. You are desperately trying to catch them but you see them getting far away and away from you. Edit :- guys i don't like EV's instead i love ICE cars. But the simple fact that an 80k car is defeating a 500k supercar is embarrassing. I don't care if the 80k car is EV or ICE.

I’ve noticed that everytime Plaids are raced on this channel, they try their hardest to make them look bad. The indicator on the steering wheel isn’t even that bad, and I guarantee you that Tesla was on a medium to low state of charge

unofrtunately this is the price we have to pay to keep Internal Combustion Engines. Electrics are objectively better at drag racing (with STOCK cars, ICE's have the advantage when you start modifying them) because of the instant power delivery. 1000hp EV is almost similar to an 1100hp ICE.

Being affordable would be nice but at the performance specs of the Plaid and the Revuelto I don't think that is possible. With that said I love my FK8 Honda Civic Type. I am never selling that car. It is a fraction of the cost of these cars, it is reliable, it is practical it has one of the best 6 speed manuals in the business.

You can just buy a base $88k Plaid and you get all the toys minus color options and track pack brakes, tires and unlocked top end. Still does like 170 mph in the base Plaid. So.. you’re WAY off on your ideas of price. And when you start to think about ownership costs.. Tesla’s only get WAY better. If you think a souped up Jeep is the future.. or more practical and family friendly.. lol.. well.. good, enjoy it. I know what works best in my world.

I think electric motor should be used in conjuction with forced induction ICE (e.g., turbo), where electric drives the low RPM while FI drives the higher RPM.

Keep the runs chronologically running in order and views so, that we actually can see how the races go. Honestly this is the Lamborghini flagship that we'll probably have for the next 10-15 years and it's lost everything so far. It's barely faster than a 918. Easier to sit in, doesn't break all the time, uses a lot less fuel and if you are obsessed with horsepower you can tune it as much as you want because it has the best engine ever made for a road car and that is a engineering fact. Even the inline 6 of the R-34 isn't anywhere near as great as the R-35's engine.
I expected more from this lambo. It's performance is very Lamborghini with big numbers on paper and then it fails to impress in reality. Not being able to easily take on a plaid or SF90 is a pretty big fail considering this is their brand new top of the line car

Good races, but I find it odd that state of charge which we know is an important factor is never shown and that most people even on unprepped surfaces can run 9.2 to 9.5 quarter mile times.

Yeah I have a 22 S Plaid and I run 9.2-9.4s all day with a dragy on normal unprepped roads.I don't think I have a deagy run above 9.6

They accidentally showed it, started at 78%, last races probably in the 50% range.

I love watching these races. But it is impressive a model S design originally from 2012 with generational updates are beating and competing with the latest cutting edge tech from the legacy exotics is kinda nuts.

Is it just me or does that Plaid not look as blisteringly quick as others tested?
The hot brakes disabled the traction control and stability since the brakes are what are used for those functions...which also likely means that the Plaid has pad temp sensors, otherwise it's a calculated temperature based on the speed/deceleration.
The lambo's error likely came from his sliding backwards while drifting...the system in AWD cars has a longitudinal G sensor to compare forward acceleration to wheel acceleration. Some of these faults clear simply when the condition no longer exists(and a key cycle) and some require normal driving so the system can see normal wheel speeds, yaw rate, G's from the lateral and longitudinal G sensors to clear.

This was obviously the first race of the revuelto that day And considering the plaid pulls away from the sf90 considerably I'm surprised at how close the revuelto was to the plaid once it launched properly
This Plaid is 0.2s slower than stock new. Probably due to the mods (spacers?). Plaids in the EU aren’t that old to lose performance.

I’ve noticed that everytime Plaids are raced on this channel, they try their hardest to make them look bad. The indicator on the steering wheel isn’t even that bad, and I guarantee you that Tesla was on a medium to low state of charge

If you look at the times, the plaid was slower than the sf90 while the revuelto consistently does 9.9

He's moving before the hands start to come down, 100% jumped. They need to change the countdown as it's bloody dreadful. Delay the final arm movement so the drivers aren't predicting when the arms come down & actually go when they come down.
@@BrianW1612 They're comparing vehicles, not reaction times. If everyone knows when the hands go down, they can time the launches and take reaction time out of the equation. Adding a delay will only add r/t variability
