I'm slightly disappointed in the review, 20 minutes of talk and you forgot the main detail, which is the brand new 32mm spool, which makes it different from the steez sv tw and the tw and zillion family.
I just purchased the new Steez A TW 2, but from Japan for $330 no way I was going to pay $650 to get one from the USA. When it first came out I loved the look of the reel and liked the couple upgrades they changed from the old platform, but couldn’t wrap my head around why they we’re charging so much more for it in the USA, regardless of warranty or not. I also was thinking if they had actually changed the frame and came out with a new platform then maybe you could swallow the price increase. Then boom, not long after and a new Steez SV TW was announced and it had what we’ve all been waiting for, a new platform! Only it looked very similar to the new Zillion platform. I must say it’s a beautiful reel, I only wish they would carry the paint job over to the bottom of the frame, they just used black paint or plastic just like they did on the zillion. I hate that! Looks cheap. Daiwa is getting crazy with pricing these days. While Shimano is coming out with a new Mentanium DC 70 that’s price didn’t change one bit from the old model.
Totally unrelated but I had a dream I was fishing for redfish with you… think I was watching too many of your old videos yesterday LOL. Great video man
I personally think it's an absolute great reel, but I'd never pay that much money for it. I just don't think it warrants the cost. I do however appreciate you taking the time to share and talk about it.
It looks like Diawa took the frame from the IMZ Limit Breaker and made it a Steez! It’s the exact same shape and has the same designed handle with regular paddles. It might be a smaller size but the design is almost identical. I own an IMZ and I’m very familiar with that particular reel.
Looking forward to the update video after you’ve fished it. Especially interested in hearing about the new zero adjust that’s rumored to be completely useless
I prefer when you go through the products you show have been fished hard, that's when we are happy to know that you really tested them long and hard that they are good or bad. but I like that you help us make the right decision before purchasing.
great vid...$750 is ridiculous, but there are ways around it as you mention; waiting on the 6.7 speed which appears to be the last to go to production in Japan.
Since the Zillion was such a successful platform, maybe Daiwa was thinking let's just improve on it and call it a Steez. As far as the dial adjuster, the only thing I'm thinking is Daiwa wanted to protect the dial from possible damage but the Zillion's was fine to begin with??
750. and that finish will gets scratched up easy like the zillions and other steez. I like the big open brake dial adjustment knob on the 16' to 22' Steez. Easier on my eyes and it looks cooler. That's what separated it from Shimano reels. You may want to buy a decal protection kit to protect that finish on the investment. I thought of doing it to my A's and 22 SV.
I ❤ my Steez CT (i bought a 2nd) its Sooo nice. Specs and low profile are superb. The CT is on discount in Germany, all other Steez models came out of ¥apan. 😁👍💯🎣🇯🇵👌 The Twing is also Wider on the new Steez SV.
Agree everything is going up from a bag of chips to fishing reels so it’s tough to tell really how much is due to all manufacturers raising pricing. From a Steez prospective really interested in this reel got several CT SV and that reel is the truth the low profile is awesome. Really curious your opinion once you have some time behind it. Great video thanks for the preview impressions
Steez is always known to be magnesium first reel and this reel is considered the new 3rd Generation platform. The Steez A2 was probably a refresh. I doubt they're going to release an aluminum version of the new platform soon because it was just refreshed last year.
I’m a steez fanatic and have never given a dam about diminishing returns but that zillion is the best bang for the buck I’ve seen to date and makes it harder to go any higher. *edit: it seems like daiwa brought in a few peeps from Shimano’s design team a couple of years/an iteration of reels ago.
I did a casting test on mine vs the CT and the old sv tw. This one can cast lighter baits with ease, my sv tw barely could cast 1/8th and 1/16th ounce, this one can no problem - like the CT. I guess downsizing the spool a little bit did make a difference. It can also cast heavy baits and feels just as stable and flat. Give it a try when you review it - i used #2 line on it ( gou ).
Thank You for the Great Review!!! I've decided to buy a Zillion after watching your video and The Hook Up Tackles video discussing this new reel. They have fished with it and they made it sound like it took some time to get it tuned in correctly. Thanks again for such a detailed overview of the new 2024 Steez SV.
It’s all about performance and tight tolerances. Looks in my opinion is better and great versus the old one. However , is it better than the old version or even the zillion. $750 is just stupid for this reel.
I have the older 2019 version of the steez ct. I just picked it up used a week ago, haven't had a chance to use it yet, I plan to throw finesse moving baits on it.
In the end I agreed!! Is a zillion x , but one question, zillion is a great reel making this reel a zillion x I don’t believe other steez plataform have a space on the market think about zillion zillion x ! No one is going to buy à steez !! Fact zillion is a great reel
Got mine last week and can’t wait to fish it. Punch I got a question for you. I want to put this reel on my Gloomis nrx+ 873 crr and I was thinking of putting 12 lbs tatsu for football jigs. Do you think 12 pound is too light for that rod?
What a miss with the adjustment knob...I can barely read the numbers on it watching this vid on a 27" monitor. Agreed, they should've kept it similar to the Zillion21 with regard to ease of access and readability.
I guarantee the zero adjust spool tension knob isn’t set optimally…..similar to the Tatula Elite’s claiming to be set it and forget from the factory…..absolutely not. The key engravings on the spool tension knob looks very similar to the JDM 21 Antares DC with MGL III spool. Also comes with a spool adjustment wrench. I actually prefer it the design of the spool tension knob, or lack of, being flush with the frame. I’m sure the spool tension is still a variable in the bait’s fall rate when dialing in.
@@jessieosborne3576 well I started to buy other ones from Japan. Taking advantage of yen conversion like a rat 😁. Will try that jackall Revoltage ll and the Spellbound Engine Bank Drive lol. Have my eyes on Designo and Studio Composite too. I'm impressed with the 6'9 MH 24 Steez . Thing throws 3 ounces and weighs 3 ounces seems . I like the MC 360 days medium 6'10 with the t1100 c card with the Steez 24 svtw
In my opinion, it is better if Daiwa Steez is the latest model released in 2024, the main frame reel is made of Aluminum version including cover on the left and right side.Aluminum reels are more durable than magnesium, especially when fishing in salt water. If salt water is fine, fresh water is of course fine.Magnesium bidy reel is not suitable for fishing in sea water because there are side effects if salt sea water sticks to the magmesium reel body. The design of this new Daiwa steez model is, in my opinion, more beautiful and looks premium.I hope Daiwa in Japan can release this new steez model in the saltwater version which is main frame body including left and right cover made of aluminum material.
I gotta admit it’s a super sexy reel, but I’d never pay that kinda money for a bait casting reel or a spinning reel for that matter. I’ve caught well over 50-8+ lb. bass with a $99 Lews LFS Speed Spool. I have a lil more expensive reels, but at the end of the day it’s bout getting the fish landed. And you can do that with a $99 reel, or a $250 Curado DC. But this is just stupid! Somebody wanna give me one, I’ll beat the shit out of it!
Punch, I am considering replacing a Metanium reel on my top water rod with the new Steez. I have two questions. How well does it cast and is it comfortable to palm. I have a Steez A II and it is wide and uncomfortable to palm compared to a Metanium (in my opinion).
The reels made in Japan sell faster than the Thailand reels I love the color have the gold red and the purple now I going to get the new steez I like them not all of them oh I rather have the steez over the zillion it’s oh lot better reel to me
I ordered this from Japan and expect it to be delivered tomorrow. It's my first Daiwa reel so I'm excited to try it out. I wanted to try their "best" and newest offering but couldn't stomach the $750. Outside of the warranty details, are you aware of any differences between the JDM and US models?
Not aware of any difference between JDM and US models on the 2924 model that I’m aware of - I ordered the JDM. Usually there isn’t much difference sometimes there is.. I know the CT JDM and US CT supposedly have different gears but I have only JDM models and have no issues so I don’t think 2x the cost justifies any actual difference. I’ve only had one Steez reel fail and all it took was replacing the main gear which was about a hundred bucks. Hard to believe these cost more than the Antares…
You know what’s better than both? The Shimano SLX DC 70 XT, Japanese domestic market only reel, but on sale for $170 atm. Has DC 5 brakes, MGL3 spool, silent tune, micro module gears, x-ship etc. beautifully made aluminum and very small profile. Fits the hand like a glove.
It looks too close to the zillion for the money and an ounce lighter. Looks like they just updated the zillion far as looks for a lot more. Like the now older model, separates it to being a Steez.
@@PunchFishingI can't agree with you more , totally right about the design. The older steez fits and feels perfect in my hands ergonomically. Hookup Tackle is so wrong on their new video. It's a boujee zillion.
