In the past I used to focus on which reel casts the furthest, but that doesn't matter when you're standing with a steez, it's just perfection... 🤩

The two different line numbers come from the spool having a thin marking line exact where the spool would be half full. As mentioned the sv spools are capable of throwing lighter lures and you so not need 200yards of 10lbs line. That is why the spool was designed to be filled just halfway, when intended to be fished with lighter lures.

I have all the Steez reels except the SV TW and some of the Steez rods. I agree with you and have my reels matched up as you said. I have 3 CT SV TW reels and use them for skipping and finesse applications mainly but they work great for flipping and can fish for 12 hrs and have no fatigue. I just teamed up one of my Steez CT SV TW with a Edge 711 finesse rod and it is awesome! I also use the Daiwa Exist spinning reels and they are incredible & yes I am partial to Daiwa. I've used a lot of top of the line reels from major brands and now I will only buy Daiwa,

The Hook Up just got a 2024 Steez. It’s sort of between the CT and A size and a little smaller than the old steez SV. Same 5.4-5.5 oz - I weighed it. Feels super compact on a rod. Spool width or diameter seems slightly more narrow than the older model, much small than my AII and larger in both width sand diameter than the CT I have. The finish is nice and seems maybe more durable than what’s on the AII but time will tell. The thing is a mirror which it differnt for sure on a steez. Palms nice. Price is still a bit tough to swallow but I’m sure it will fish great. The lack of adjustment knob bothers me now but I wonder if I’ll forget about it .

I had all jdm Metaniums up until I purchased this reel last month. It’s definitely in a different class but not worth twice the price of the Metanium. I’ve got mine on my Nrx893c+ with 12lb floro & it’s my fav combo by far. Only reason I got this Steez is I was tired of waiting on the Metanium DC. This reel is money for my shakyheads!

Been a Shimano guy my whole life, but picked up the new Steez a II this past fall. It is a great reel, but I don’t think it’s worth the higher $650 price. Its smooth, light, and solid, but I don’t like the wider profile of it compared to Bantam and Metanium. I also feel like my Shimanos can outcast the Steez A. I don’t know how this new one would stack up, but I can’t imagine it being good enough to warrant a $200 price increase over the old one. I would be a lot more interested if it was in the more traditional $5-600 range. Just my 2 cents

I will take all your OLD Steez..! I luv luv the now previous Steez A, A-II, SV and the 22' Zillions along with my Shimanos but I think the new Steez resembles the Zillion too much in the frame shape design now. I put it on my Dark Sleeper rod with some 12lb sniper for finesse swimbaits and spinnerbaits but instantly realized the handle length was way too small for my liking.. I think its either 80 or 85mm (noticeably smaller than the Metanium HG). Outside of warranty, price and handle size, could you please explain the differences between the JDM and US models? Not sure how these are priced $100 more than the Antares which is a significantly more substantial reel, but I also think the Metanium is overpriced compared to the Steez so I guess it balances out!
I have a CT and a Steez AII and they are great reels. I had an older Morethan have the gears fail from cranking big plugs and original A get noisy from it. I replaced my A with AII. So far the Antares is bulletproof throwing big heavy, resistive stuff through cover. The Steez cast just as far in my experience, they are just not as solid as the monster drive.
So far the AIi has been fine competing with the Antares but just seems to work harder to pull in heavier baits. Because of the weight the Antares isn’t as fun to fish plastics and lighter stuff though. I haven’t fished the CT yet. I’ll be curious how the 24 Steez compares - purchase a JDM model.

It’s really more about the spool and reel weight, the reel itself in both cases handle pretty much anything just fine other than really tiny 1/16” stuff into the wind which I have yet to find a baitcaster can do better than a spinning setup.
The A and AII are slightly heavier then the SV-TW, the A have bigger line capacity but you can swap out the G1 and SV spools between many of the models. An SV spool on the A gives you a differnt range in the A. The G1 spool on SV-TW model gives you the line capacity on the lighter reel.
The CT and the Air models share the same spool size so you can swap them around too but they don’t fit the A and regular SV-TW.
Yes supposedly the braking is tuned differently but to be honest I can tell a whole lot of difference in the A with and SV spool vs. the SV-TW. I think you’d be happy with either, with an extra spool to fill in the line weight and capacity gaps if you don’t just want to get both reels ;). I have both but I’ve swapped out the spools just to experiment they just aren’t that much different.
Rod action line and spool itself are bigger factors on how they cast and fish the baits.
