You should do sound tests with line on the spool, it changes the sound a bit.
Changes it massively, all I could think of during his testing
Putting line on it will deafen the drag noise, it sounds so clean out the box tho
Yesssss! I opened up my daiwa newsletter email this morning and saw these beauties, they look incredible, going to have to do some serious saving up but keen on the 4000.
Can't wait to see you put it into action mate! 🔥
I love your work
can i get a free certate please😭
Don't be that guy @@rafaelgamez1001
Love the Certate. I have 4 2016 and 3 2019 models.
The 5000 sizes are an interesting mix of light tackle and heavy duty power. My cousin managed to stop a 15 kg GT with the 2019 model in the 5000 size.
2016 most beautiful Certate IMO 👍
Agreed, elegant design, they should have kept that colour scheme going.
Fish mainly with 2500s, smaller inshore fish but have caught some decent fish on a 2500. Sweet looking gear! Cheers man!
I like the Flueger reels you can't overtighten the drag and it somehow let's the drag react to the fish running, works very well with the one piece Penn power tip rod that I matched it with.
That junk doesn’t compare
I still have my old Certate 2500 hyper custom r. 18yrs old. Still love it 😊😊😊
Those old Hyper Certates had the marine bronze main gear from that generation of Saltiga, still legendary!
@@AMLuc1320 thanks for that info!. I remember the old 4500z saltigas. And s-extreme models.
I also have a morethan branzino 3000. The old black/gold one. (First version). Such a nice looking reel. I think its year 2006 made from memory. I think it was marketed as a seabass reel overseas.
Those morethan reels also had the marine bronze main gear.
Unfortunately Daiwa has opted for duralumin gears in their high end reels. My understanding is that they aren’t as strong pound for pound as marine bronze, but the larger gear sizes used with the monocoque body compensates for that and they’re much lighter.
@@AMLuc1320 very interesting . Great info. On talk of old reels vs new. Seen alot of new shimano baitrunners in for repairs. Price of old shimano baitrunners (b) model maylasian made ones have rocketed in price. Around $400 for a good condition B model these days aswell. Seen drag failure on new baitrunners. And handle snapping where in as those old graphite body B models were brutes.
I have the 4000 model, buttery smooth.
Great video nice set of reels🎣😎👍
Love the note of that drag. It reminds me of my bg mq xh 2500, but nicer and a lot more $. Dream reel.
🤜🏼🤛🏼 🇦🇺
I bought one of their cheaper models an Aire i think itis and it's been a top little real especially for $80.00, it's really tight, no sloppiness when you stop cranking or winding. It was on special a couple of years back, I think it was originally a bit over a 100 bucks but for a cheaper reel it's great
My main small reel is the 22' Exist. Looks like it's gotten a bunch of tech from it. Sounds amazing and worth a spin if you get the chance to grab one!
The Exist is absolutely a better purchase and it's not even close.
so smooth so pretty great drag sound , just a lil heavy for freshwater light tackle the new airity SF or shimano vanquish would blow your mind how light they are in same sizes
Seriously? I purposely go a couple sizes bigger on the create lt to have enough weight to balance the rod(and cause I have some reserves for bigger fish(I put some 30-40lb tightline or Cortland hollow on, then the last part that get's casted out can be spliced on and changed as needed) and it also gives some extra casting difference. Then again I wish they would make a 30k Saltiga cause the 20k is still a lighter reel that, also strong, feels pretty finesse, so something bigger for extra capacity with heavy line would be nice.
Right side reeling just feels right never could switch to left hand
no line on the reel but it sounds freakin bangin. im tryin to imagine it with something pulling drag. crispy..
Briggys: That drag sound is on a different level!
GoMexus Sx450 has entered the chat.
Nothing sounds better than my van staal. But that certate is beautiful
nothing beats the drag ring on an old van stall. the reel is 100% aluminum and stainless steel. i see a lot of guys with certates on boats these days. they look like a very smooth, high performing reel, but i need my seals.
A few years ago kids in Indonesia were making diy TH-cam videos modifying low end reels to make the clickers ring louder by replacing the original nylon clicker with aluminum clickers made from drink cans😂
It sounded very much like the new certate 2500! Very creative and resourceful people. ❤
Watch the vid of Nathan from lateral lines fight a good size king on his small soft plastic set up. His certate gets lit the f up and sounds bloody incredible! Music to a fishos ears 😍
I have a 23 Certate and i love it
Old Exist and Steez drag sounds were 😍😍
Wow, very cool fishing reel, friend, thank you for the information...👍
How about a review of the 2023 saltigas? Since you have fished them for a while now I would love to hear what you think of them..
Im an experienced LBG and spinning fisho. The original 5000 certate that came out a few years back was a beautiful reel but couldnt handle the rigours of spinning 40 gram metals at high speed. Gearing gave way on two of them on the first session for the original and the first session on the replacent reel as well. Daiwa were ok in the end and gave me a credit and i got a Shimano 14000 Twinpower. I know the Certate would be brilliant for the modern new style of fishing soft plastics or normal baitfish etc. Certainly not for 70 metre casts and pulling raiders etc from the depths at high speed. I have no affiliation with any brand of reel and this is an honest account. Like i said, im sure this beautiful reel works great in general pump and wind fishing. Im of the belief that in attempts to gain market share the lightening of the internals and main body allows too much flex in some situations. The C14 shimano reels also show flex under load though i never sheared pinion or main gears. Love ur stuff Mr Brigsy. One of the best on TH-cam for sure. Tightlines.
Hand lines are the best cheap and you never strip gears and it has a 30kg drag system huge line capacity and great for long distance casting.
Save on the rod as well
Briggsy the drag sounds the same as a shimano stradics😂
hes team daiwa not allowed to respondf to anything with shimano in it lol
shimano are smarter they dont need to buy for reviews daiwa with there shit 1-5 year warranty and shimano 10 years on all reels.
Nice reel man
Dammit now i want a Daiwa sponsorship. Guess i just need to spend the next decade making the best fishing content on youtube 🤦♂️
Hahaha that's the best comment I've ever gotten 🤙
@@Briggsy 😄 been watching since the start mate you've given me plenty of free entertainment, glad I could brighten ya day haha
Nice reel mate
i cant believe i thought this was an old upload, hes bringing back the old reel reveiw vids maybe?
Rev's sound pretty good too.
Love you briggsy
i just got my 5000 planned on fishing with it tomorrow to test out some lures
Big Daiwa fan here! However, IMO the absolutely best sounding drag clicker is the Shimano Twin Power. I would choose the Certate over Twin Power any day! Although TBH I would get two BG MQs 2500 and a 3000 before a 2500 certate given the price….I have the 14K certate for Tunaaaaa
Love diawa spinner reels and love lews baitcasters
dam that reel is nice
If you keep turning that drag a ballerina is going to pop out and start dancing to a tune mate😂
23 Airity PC LT2500H has a very similar drag sound too. Possibly made with the same components? If the two model lines share the same drag parts, I am really glad i didnt go with the 3000 size Airity after hearing the 2500 and 3000 certates back to back.
Hi Briggsy
Would you be keen on doing a reel maintenance video, please?
Especially the Saltiga's Magsealed reels, the do's and the don't would be great.
As always, love your videos!
Hi Mate, I've never serviced them, had the big Saltigas for 5? years now and never sent it off for a service. I just tighten up the drag and rinse them under the shower after fishing. If a reel did need servicing I'd send it to Daiwa, I don't know enough about them and wouldn't trust myself to do it right!
Daiwa’s Equipment is on another level!
Searched the reel here by me in South Africa, and its a wopper of a price. But so beautiful and sounds great
Hi again , the PC LT 2500 is the same sound with 2500-XH ?
I cant get over the sound of the saltis mq. Its mental.
I think I still prefer the saltiga drag, but it's still good!
Hello i hav the Daiwa Laguna LT Spin Reel and i love the drag sound it's been a great and amazing reel i have been having it for 5 years and it's still like new hopefully i can get this new Daiwa Reel
Diawa knows how to build a reel
Yea Boy
Yes it is briggsy, THE BESTTTT SOUNDING REEL! Love all of your videos mate 🎣
Would kill to have a reel like that
What is your favourite rod for gt fishing
Hi briggys what do u think I should get a red hyper or atomic arrowz
If you love the sound of this 2500. You should hear the sound of the Shimano sienna HD 2500 🤤.
It just tickles my brain like no other reel does!!!!’
Vanford and sustain has the best sounding drag
but will Daiwa 2024 Certate be smooth in a year? and its a freshwater reel..so how you using it in australia? oceans abound.
What PE line will you spool the both of those?
I think Daiwa is the only company that put the most thought into how the drag sounds
yeaahhhh naahhhh....ask that question again about their reels from 2 years ago
Only since 20 Saltiga have they done anything to improve drag sound. Love their old reels, but drag sound was hit and miss
exactly my point bro. dais where always known for having garbage drag sounds hahahah@@AMLuc1320
You going to pay 600 to 700 dollars for a good sounding drag for f..k sake go and here a shimano twin powers drag then the performance as well and it only cost 500.
@@frankbotic9953 I second this
A metallic overtone ting a ring after the click. sounds like my1000 to 4000 Shimano Stradics and twin powers. same ring. kinda bell like.
Hi , the Daiwa Fc Lt 2500-xh enough power for bream , grunter and jew fish . please let me know . Thank you for your tim.
Most likely the 2500 has a smaller clicker and most likely a different spring and springload etc wich gives the different sound, that's my guess anyway.
The spool has the most influence on the sound of the drag. It's essentially a bell that resonates at a frequency that is relative to it's size, thickness and shape.
@@adamimberti6948yes but the hammer hitting the bell also has a significant impact on the sound, just get a bell somewhere and try for yourself.
@@MrKveite1 That has a minor secondary effect.
@@adamimberti6948Go try it then comment..
BRIIIGGGGSSSYYYY
Cant blame you bra....we all hate the rubber
Hey Briggsy, I'm looking for a longtail tuna setup for around 650-700, do you have any rod an reel recommendations?
Hi Mate, with all gear choices I reckon getting into a good tackle shop and having a feel of a few different options is always the go. As an example you might feel a few reels and realise that you really want to spend more on a reel to get something a bit nicer and less on a rod (or visa versa), where as if you just ordered something online you'd prolly spend a similar amount on each and just hope for the best. SALTIST HYPER LIGHT ROCK SPECIAL S902-2/4 is my go to landbased longtail rod and prolly a good starting point for specs and for the budget you've said prolly looking at Saltist or BG MQs in the 8000 - 14000 size range depending on how heavy you want to spin for them (PE4 with 80lb leader is pretty good all round line to run but you can definitely go PE2 (or even lighter out of the boat) and nothing wrong with PE6 especially if you plan on hooking huge ones landbased). Again try and get a feel of the gear before you buy it and the choice will be much easier to make, check out these films if you want more info on choosing gear - th-cam.com/video/OPUhE6JCw_o/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared - th-cam.com/video/4BmUbhcXnTA/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
What is that cap in the back of it for ? So the water can get inside?
The spool looks nice and shallow. I bought the BG and sold it fast. Spool too deep. I hate using backing.
Shimano Stellas are brilliant reels! My favourite, by far.
Eh,so what
i got my
24Certate 3000-XH-ARK
Tomorrow I’m heading straight to Bass Pro Shops to get a feel for it. I’m curious if is smoother than my Shimanos.
Shimano are the best
It won’t be
can't beat shimano for spinning reels they always butterly smooth
None of them are a patch on the 2007-2012 Steez spinning reel!
Daiwa4life briggs
That drag gave me an eargasm, made me moan and sent chills down my back
Where do you get em? I’ve got a ultralight rod and a cheep reel and I’ve landed big 40 cm bream on them but that would be on a whole other level
Hi Mate, they're out now so any shops that stock Daiwa should have em 🤙
Bro don't waste your money.
Not wrong Frank. Ridiculous price for what the reel does😂@@frankbotic9953
@@Briggsy thanks mate!
unreal to me how those 3 reals alone cost more than every rod and reel i've ever bought combined
Could be the line dampening the ting
Yep- put especially braid line onto it and the sharp thin sound will change. My 22 Exist 2000 sounds just like that!
Can you comment on what daiwa provides you by being a promoter? Just curious.... Free gesr or just heavy discounts?
Hi Mate, I've been working with Daiwa for about 5 years and I get paid as a Sponsored angler. When you're making films for a living, free gear is great but doesn't help put food on the table. Personally I only work with brands that I love and trust, so I'm currently only sponsored by Daiwa and Malosi, both of which I used on my own accord for years before accepting mutually beneficial sponsorship deals (the crew behind both those brands are very supportive of my work and also are mates of mine who I have long term relationships with, to me that's very important in accepting a spono). Spono's account for about 1/5 of my income and TH-cam 4/5. I will say that films like this one you've commented I'm under no obligation to make as part of the deal. I just get sent gear and I can choose how I want to use it/create content with it, which most the time just means going fishing as I normally would, but unboxing vids are good too mix things up for the channel and I've always frothed on fishing gear so they're actually pretty exciting for me to make. Hope that answers your question mate.
Wow that's a!n incredible answer, was always curious how people like yourselves made it work. Appreciate you being forthcoming as the business end of things often lives in the shadows. Well done for making such great content and providing relevant real world info that helps people refine and advance their fishing. huge kudos for turning your passion into a living. I still find myself directing people to your FG knot demo all the time, its hands down the most well filmed knot demonstration anyones ever posted and that knot changed fishing with lures for me.
the sound reminds me of some kind of insect 😂 maybe a cricket?
Is the size smaller than a regular 3,000size reel with the same amount of line capacity? Or just mostly lighter?
A 2500 is the same size as a 2000 with a bigger spool. A 3500 is same as a 3000 with bigger spool, and so on.
@@khanag3mate
Oh, actually more line it’s size then, thank you!
Any good 2024 New Baitcaster Reel for this year?
When it comes to quality it's definitely Daiwa. I'm not buying anything that's not Daiwa for the last 4 years. This brand never let me down and in very difficult circumstances.
Daiwa are trying to tell you, wind left handed, you cast right handed and should fight right handed, but nooo, Aussies stubbornly refuse to spend an hour learning to wind left handed so they don't have to continually swap hands every single cast. Thankfully the 24 Certates seem to be as good as the 19s, which are just a joy to use.
I adore my 4 and 5k of the 19 certates. Very much looking forward to trying the new ones.
😅 yeah i can't fighting fish with my left hand because im right handed
Its not a yank or aussie thing, its the coriolis force. Look it up. Lol. Nice review. Nice reels. That drag noise has the same effect as a woman moaning.
@@bywhytexyz8518 Yep, so many do it though. It's worse when you see women trying to fight big fish with their weak arm, often cos some bloke handed them a reel set up that way. It's a lot easier to learn to wind left handed than to build up your left arm to the same strength as your right, or learning to cast left handed. ;) - not saying women are weak but on average less muscle mass than blokes 😁
I’m right handed but prefer to wind with left when lure fishing
2023 model? if so, very good buy. on most reels the clicker is totally not important at all,. it is not the sound of something happening, usually it is just a little plate that deliberately clicks as it moves over some teeth on a gear.... just for the sake of making the sound... most of my reelsl are over 30 years old so they have pretty loud clickers and rear drag controls.
I am also Daiwa Boyss..... Daiwa BG is the Highest i can Go . 😂😂
Wow! That reel deserves it's own Only Fans page!!!
i_fish goes on a bit about drag sound. He's pretty even-handed in his reviews - does not advertise for Daiwa or Shimano.
I still think the small Saltiga sounds something like a dolphin.
Don't care how sweet it sounds. We fish alot and I still can't convince myself I need a 500.00 light freshwater reel.
Is the 2500 good for squid?
Sounds like the old Daiwa Exists
wht name for the golden daiwa??
Without a doubt best sounding drag on ANY reel is original tibors
The sound difference might due to the spool being empty and resonating more. Once spooled with line it might be muffled. Awesome reel, however, I just fell a few weeks ago and crashed my stradic, I would be really upset if I would have crashed a 400 dollar reel... I'll stick with the "cheap" ones...
If you don't fish much, absolutely go with the "cheap" ones. If you are a remotely avid fisherman.......absolutely not.
@@billsikes4007 let's be honest, for 99% of people (even those who fish frequently) a mid range reel is perfectly fine. A better reel doesn't make anyone a better fisherman, it's mostly a fetish. And the use cases where a high end reel is mandatory are quite rare
@@dante7228 The best comparison I can make is if you enjoy drinking scotch or wine. As your palette evolves, so does your preference. It's all about the enjoyment and you learn to appreciate the improvements. Just like anything else in life, you get what you pay for. My mother, literally, can tell a huge difference between a Vanquish and Pfleuger President. But your right, for the most part, it's not going to make you a better fisherman. Except for the drag, landing more fish technically makes you a better fisherman.
You just can't beat the Shimano vanquish at the moment brother for light , micro and bfs fishing.
Daiwa exist is a close second no other Daiwa like it. If they improve the recent exist by putting magseal especially on the roller bearing and improve antireverse it would be the go to reel.
Sad to see the Daiwa going down hill with the new airrity having Chinese parts... 😅
Vanquish is the overwhelming best light/ultralight reel and it's not even close. The Luvias Airity is better as an ultralight reel vs the Exist.
@@billsikes4007 agreed 👍 vanquish is next level. The new Airitys are crap compared to the old ones. They are assembled in china. The Shimano Cardiff is probably the most underrated reel ever. I have the 2018 1000shg and 3000mhg and they still work like I got them yesterday cork knob handle still intact and haven't fallen apart.
@@samasim3944 That's a great call about the Cardiff!!!
Particle accelerator at 1:33 ?
Could anyone let me know what gloves briggsy uses
Nothing beats a Shimano
How much is the 2500 series?

Drag sounds like a 10k gosa
This is youtube sound made! Gonna sing like Diana Ross on big fish
Have you heard a Saragosa drag tho? Lol
If you think this is light try the Airity!
