    A recoil Lug for a Ruger 10-22 What is next?

    It appears the rear bedding button is located where many drill a cleanout hole. If using the system, does the rear bedding button prevent the rifle from being cleaned from the breech end?

    • @gunsmither
      @gunsmither  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your inquiry. The bedding button requires a 1/4" hole in the rear, most favorably located in the same spot as a cleaning rod hole. The button is anchored in the stock with epoxy, and does not interfere with the cleaning rod hole after the epoxy sets up.

    On your website, you say that the style of bed button is no longer available. How does the new one differ from the old one?

    • @gunsmither
      @gunsmither  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The newer style is permanently mounted to the receiver, instead of in the stock.

    Innovative design. How much and where can I purchase?

    • @gunsmither
      @gunsmither  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are now available from my website, www.gunsmithertools.com . The price for the complete system is $24.95 + $5.50 shipping and handling. The rear Bedbutton™ alone will be $10.95 + $4.50 S/H. The Bedblock™ block alone will be $16.95 + S/H of $4.50.

    It was priced great for an upgrade but now it is inflated. Not sure if those parts are part of some crazy supply chain issue or just the normal if demand gets high jack up the price. Supply and demand.

      I'd suggest that you try making one of these if you think the price is too high. The amount of time it takes to rough these out, then hand finish, plus the high cost of stainless steel, making the button, then shipping them, will give you an appreciation for what it takes.

      @@gunsmither how does the new set up work? Is it the same that's in this video or has the design changed? I seen in another video comment that you changed the design where the one in the receiver is permanently in the receiver.

    • @gunsmither
      @gunsmither  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@inscoredbz The bed button gets epoxied to the receiver instead of being installed in the stock. It requires a 3/16" hole be drilled in the receiver rear .450" up from the bottom of the receiver. It does not fit in the cleaning rod hole like the original design.

    Wow, The recoil on those 22s must be pretty massive.
    We decided to build a house and went with a two-story instead of a ranch, so just in case the air gets thin up there, I went ahead and bought the whole family some space suits, so now before going up stairs we can suit up!
    Instead of torquing down your assembly scoota 10 inch-pounds why don't you go to 20, and save yourself the hassle of installing a recoil lug on a $250 gun.
