I bought my Ruger precision rimfire last winter and have just been doing ammo testing and curing bad shooting habits So I was rewatching your channel And decided to give your bedding trick a try. I tore down and deep cleaned the gun debuted and polished the bolt . Then set the trigger as light as it would go,then reassembled I shot 4 (5shot ) groups and went back inside and tore down again , bedded the gun reassembled and shoot another 4 -5 sot groups at 50yd 1st group was between 1 1/4 and 3/4 . Which was fairly typical Then next 4-5shot group was amazing 7/16 to just under A1/2 The ammunition I was using was Norma 22 Match This project finally is coming together Thanks for the tip much appreciated
Thank You! I bought this Ruger Precision expecting Half decent accuracy for a 22lr, I took it strait to the range and after shooting many brands of 22lr, I was still getting poor groups and lots of flyers. I was totally pissed off! What a waste of money I thought. I watched this video, ran to Lowes bought a $ 5.00 roll of aluminum tap. Followed your Bedding instructions. Yesterday I took the Ruger back to the ranger. WOW! What a difference. 1 to 2 inch groups at 75 yards with Mid grade 22lr ammo. the most amazing thing is there was almost no flyers. Ruger could have done this at the factory. Thanks again.
I put an Eric Cortina Tuner on my Ruger Precision and have won first place tree times and 2nd place once in the 4 events I entered. I can put 5 rounds of cci standard velocity targets rounds in one hole at 25 yards. I can connect a grouping of 5 rounds at 50. The Tuner is definitely the way to go. Dial it in at 25 with your ammo. If you switch ammo after dialing, you’ll need to re dial for the new ammo. It’s amazing. And I’m a terrible shooter normally!
I’d try Norma Tac-22. I just got this rifle and out of the box with that ammo at 50 yards I shot .33” I tried the CCI standard velocity and it shot horribly out of my rifle. Definitely stay subsonic though, if you aren’t already!
Now, test without suppressor and a controlled environment (Wind factor and temperature) Mine was grouping .32 at 50 yds right out of the box with Águila Match ammo, I took it out last week and was hitting 8/10 at 150 yds, target size 5 in steel. No mods other than the Vortex scope.
I have both the ruger americans rimfires in 22 and 22 mag and was considering this. My biggest question would be how long does the tape last after the bedding ??
The whole point of aluminum tape is to take up the extra room on the SIDES of the bedding block, so it doesn't wobble around. Placing tape on the v-ways of the block where it interfaces with the round action is not going to do anything whatsoever to stabilize the action. Any tiny improvement in group size is either attributable to environmental factors, or just coincidence.
Agreed. His groups shot the same. No change. Thank you for this comment. Knowing what not to do has equal value. Thanks for the video, content creator.
What is the Torque setting u have this set at .. and have you ever tryed eley club or eley target ??? It runs great out of my rpr. Mine like cci standard too but a big difference with eley thanks man
2 questions, what grip & did you stick to only 1 layer? You should check SK & elly ammo out. I got my great groups with stingers then I found elly & SK match. A bit pricey & more effected by wind out past 150 but stays consistent as where stingers drift heavy after 125 (stock setup)
Running a Ergo TDX-0 grip, only have one layer of tape on bedding. I’ve been trying to get some different ammo to try but it’s pretty slim pickins these days.
@@wyominghighdesertprecision I did some experimentation with ammo. mine seems to favor RWS R50, RWS special match and the green box from Elley "sport". going to bed mine too and see what happens. next up is a barrel tuner
You need to redo this and use some actual halfway decent ammo. Amd you could probably tighten those groups up if you checked different weights in your action screws.
@Wyoming High Desert Precision also I have a lilja match barrel on order and before spring I'll order a new trigger. I have faith that with the right barrel and trigger that gun will shoot half inch groups at 100yd and moa or better out to 200 250.
I was watching another video about the rpr and a big problem seems to be in the slop of the bolt. I notice yours also moves every time you pull the trigger.
That Ergo is the shiz, I haven't got to put a ton down the barrel yet. But going to hit a couple rimfire matches this year and probably get smoked. But should be fun
I can see the use of feathers for windage, good idea. The rest of the artsy fartsy seems to be just your idea of some sort of spiritually connectivism. WTF
Windage is a little different 50 yards away than it is at the muzzle. But i suppose if you don’t have flags at your target, it would at least be a good starting point to go by.

I thought the idea of bedding was to mold the stock to the action for a precise fit. The aluminum tape molds to the original stock shape.
Best ammo’s for my .17hmr
I found that had tightest groups are the federal premium.
great video thanks for the tips
Looks FUN, do some similar up here in MT
It is fun and cheap practice to boot. Thanks for watching

The wind died down in the second group so I don’t think this is a good test session. And you notified a difference with the tape after a year?
It looked like the wind died down for the bottom row. You still happy with the tape bedding?
Cool!
Do the same test without the suppressor and see what you get.
anyone have issues with their bolt popping up when carrying it around on this rifle?

What thickness of foil tape are you using? There are a lot of different thickness foil tapes. Appreciate it!
Standard thickness is preferred.
Hello from Ukraine.
Thanks for the video.
What are the scope do you use?
Thanks one more time.
I’m running a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16. EBR 2c reticle in Mills. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
I like your suppressor cover , do you fly fish with it too . Just kidding.
Love the video! What grip are you running?
Ergo Tdx-zero, like the vertical positioning and it’s quite a bit thicker.

There’s a mod for the stock trigger that will get it around a pound.

What did you use for a torque when putting the screws back in?

Do you have any suggestions on ammo? Selection has been a little scarce lately. Thanks for the tip on the action screws, I’ll give it a go

The only thing bad about that grip is having to convert all my rifles over to it! Thanks for watching man
@@wyominghighdesertprecision I'm hoping to try this tape thing out is there a specific thickness tape?
@@jordansprad I think any aluminum tape will work, all from the same roll so it’s the same thickness.
@@wyominghighdesertprecision awesome, im gonna give this a try and I'll report back.
Where can I get one of those suppressor?? Hard to find
Silencer shop
Definitely not enough rounds to really tell honestly...bit good vid

Windage is a little different 50 yards away than it is at the muzzle. But i suppose if you don’t have flags at your target, it would at least be a good starting point to go by.
The tape literally did nothing for your grouping… Go educate yourself.
I would bet it’s ammo. You should shoot a couple of mags after switching ammo brands.
What did you torque the action screws down to???
