This video shows using a Haas TM-1 CNC milling machine to cut "Gripper Grooves" in the 5/8" OD Delrin tool body for my Smithmaster™tool. The tall vise jaws hold 6 pieces at a time. When one end is formed, the pieces are reversed end for end in the vise, and the program is repeated for the other end.

    The people at Ruger must have something similar for initial assembly. Theirs probably has a coating on it so as not to put any marks on the front of the receiver. Guess if it was important to you, it could diped it plasti-dip. I use mine just like the video - perfect.

    For any one that doesent have the tool like me sharpen a pencil take a razor and chop of the very tip and a little of the wood the hollow out the pencil a bit so the spring slots in it and push down all the way and have your safety right there and hold the pencil and quickly push the safety through easy as pie

    After coming across your channel and seeing this video, I bought two of these tools for use with my 10/22's from Tandemkross. I should have them by tomorrow afternoon and look forward to putting them to good use. My 74 year old arthritic fingers has made installing the bolts into the receivers a frustrating task. This ingenious tool of yours is a welcome relief to this old timer. Thank you! Didn't see your 22 caliber chamber tool or the scraper/brush tool on your website. Do you still make them?

      ​@@gunsmither Received the bolt tool this past Friday and put it to good use immediately. Works like a charm. Takes all the frustration out of removing and re-installing the bolts with my arthritic fingers. Now I look forward to cleaning my 10/22's again. Thanks for a great and ingenious tool. Now to find the S&W spring tool for my revolvers.

    If your butt pad is upside down on the jig then the grind will be backwards when you install it on the stock

      The way it is shown is the proper way to mount the pad on the jig. By setting it up this way, and using this tool, or a regular square, you get the proper angle when the pad is mounted to the actual stock.

    Fantastic. I even followed Joe's method rather than retracting spring all the way, then trying to shimmy the bolt in. Worked flawlessly 1st time. It'll save not only painful fingers, but less stress on the rifle. A must; trust me on this.

      I believe it's an extra slave pin I had lying on the table, but the Lord knows I could be wrong!

I have I think all your tools for the 10/22 have not used the safty tool yet will be drilling with the cleaning hole drill tomorrow keep on thinking up new stuff. thanks again

    I have a new model 66 and gripping the ejector rod while turning the cylinder doesn’t seem to loosen anything. They must’ve changed the design ?

      @moreme40 Some Smith&Wesson revolvers have a right hand turn on the ejector rod and some have a left hand turn. You need to GENTLY turn in either direction to determine which way your ejector rod loosens/tightens. Always use spent shells installed opposed from one another in the extractor "star" when loosening and tightening.

    In your video description and under your shop, links it says the Ruger and Taurus models are discontinued, but a Taurus 66 is what I need this tool for. So, will this version of the tool that's still available work for a Taurus 66 or not? Or does anyone know if other rods like the S&W rods available at midway site will work on this gun?

I just got my first revolver, Taurus 66 with 6 inch barrel and after taking it down to oil for the first time I did the same thing and marrred up the end of my extractor rod using a pair of pliers and now want to order a new one. But wanted to learn a little and make sure for next time I knew what I was doing more than last. But how freaking hilarious cause I was gonna say the same thing that I'm the idiot who did this and it just so happens your comment was from 2 hours ago lol.     It was priced great for an upgrade but now it is inflated. Not sure if those parts are part of some crazy supply chain issue or just the normal if demand gets high jack up the price. Supply and demand.

      I'd suggest that you try making one of these if you think the price is too high. The amount of time it takes to rough these out, then hand finish, plus the high cost of stainless steel, making the button, then shipping them, will give you an appreciation for what it takes.

    Just what I needed!! Holding the retracted recoil spring in place as I put the bolt back usually takes me several tries before it fits together. I also will upgrade to a Volquartsen extractor now that I have a good tool for removing, replacing, and cleaning it.

    Thinking about buying this, there's no play on the bit? Post drilling I'll have a straight shot in the the barrel? Any chance you sell a barrel bushing for when driving a ride from the new whole through the breech and down the muzzle? This is brilliant!

      This will give you a clean out whole directly in line with the chamber. The Delrin bushing is a snug fit in the receiver; very little "play". No other bushing is available.

    Cut my finger badly on the edge of the main spring housing the first time I pulled mine apart. Neat tool indeed. I use a modified heavy duty paperclip with mine.

      You don't. The drill bit is a very high quality bit, and will stay sharp for many hundreds of holes in Aluminum. Use a little WD-40 or cutting oil to lube it.

      @@inscoredbz The bed button gets epoxied to the receiver instead of being installed in the stock. It requires a 3/16" hole be drilled in the receiver rear .450" up from the bottom of the receiver. It does not fit in the cleaning rod hole like the original design.
