The first song I heard from her was mandinka, which was a great song, and then I heard this and it was pretty good but I don't think it's as good as a lot of the other songs. she wrote and covered a lot of great songs, and it's a shame people only know her for this one.

When this came out, I remembered then seeing the sadness in her eyes! I didn’t know until later that she was abused by her mother and sexually abused by others!
There’s a very heartbreaking interview on Dr. Phil where she says she was kicked over and over again by her mother and yet another video explains that her mother was the one who cut her hair and made her to believe she was ugly and she repeatedly kicked her in her private area to prevent her from having children!
      Her mother was a monster!

Sinead struggled with many things, and her relationship with her mother was always a very difficult one. She's discussed it on occasions and it seemed almost as if it was an abusive relationship at times. A few years before this song came out, she and her mother were trying to resolve their relationship, and her mother died in a car accident. I think that's why when she sings about the flowers that her mama planted in the backyard, you see tears come down her face. She will truly be missed. As I always say, Prince may have written the song, but Sinead, owned it.

It's a song I've listened to more than most other songs in my life and if I didn't know better, I'd bet it was about three minutes long, sure there's an intro and an outro and the instrumental part in the middle but it always surprises me that it's a five-minute music video. This song was a global hit the moment it hit the radio. Incredibly sung by beautiful woman.

where you been living under a rock?! how can you not have listened and know her music...wow . She was a legend, a true woman who fought for what she believed in despite living a horrific childhood of massive abuse. RIP Sinead Bless you always

The first time I heard this song it blew me away. This song is a piece of her heart she gave us. She was so talented but so fragile. I, with millions of others, hope she is at peace now. 💔

The song is about the years of trauma she suffered with her siblings at the hands of her Mother and at the hands of others. She did a full documentary with Dr Phil recently that went very in-depth about everything I actually cried at it was awful to hear. She did however state before her mother passed away she forgave her but her sister couldn’t. R.I.P Sinead

An exceptional artist. She didnt do it for the fame, and the extreme attention she got for this song caused her a lot of stress. Im gratefull i got to she her live. Her performance was otherworldy. Chills. Both times.

She lost her mother shortly before this video was made. She said the pain of that loss played a big part in why she appears so emotional singing this song. You can really feel her pain.

I saw her live at Meadowbrook in the summer of 1991. Her encore was a capella, and it was amazing. Total silence after for a full five seconds, then thunderous applause. Troubled soul with the voice of an angel. RIP, Ma'am.

The world did not deserve the greatness that was Sinead O'Conner. We were not worthy of her. Rest In Power.
