    Love the content this video helped me decide to go with the R400!
    Quick question I just installed the exhaust yesterday. I noticed after the install, my boost dropped. I used to hit 22lbs of boost on a hard pull now im lucky to get 17lbs.
    Do you think there is a correlation?
    I checked for exhaust leaks and don't see any. Taking it to a muffler shop tomorrow to see if they can whats going on.
    Any thoughts on this?

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      The only thing I can think of is that you might have bumped your 02 sensors or something like that. It may just take a bit of time for your ecu to relearn the change in air flow! I wouldn't take it to a shop.
      Try disconnecting your battery for 10 min to reset your ecu and see if that fixes things. Also, remember that your peak boost will change with the weather. Colder temps=denser air, lower peak boost needed, opposite for warm temps

    I'm not gonna lie I'm torn between the awe catback and the r400.. on one hand awe sells the conversion kit to switch with track/touring, on the other hand I'd save like 500 bucks. Currently have a nameless axle back which is hilarious and fun all the pops and bangs but has all the drone on the freeway so idk

    I just bought this exhaust for my 2019 WRX. It arrived in the mail about a week ago. I've been hesitant to put it on. Did you have any concerns about putting this exhaust on your car considering the stock pipe diameter is smaller than invidia's? I worry that it will have a negative affect on how the car runs with the stock tune. I've been trying to find reliable information. I know most people say a tune is not required for a cat-back system, as it's after the cat. I called 4 tuning shops to ask this question. BrenTuning said it would be fine, as did two others. However, one local tuner (DynoTech Tuning) said that it could have very negative effects on how the car runs. Any thoughts on this? (sorry for the lengthy bit here).

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey man... So basically, the only big restriction in our cars exhaust is the j pipe (catted section). Installing a catback is not going to have any effect on the car other than a slight better flow of exhaust gasses, but very minimal. That tuner must not tune turbo Subarus very often... You can run a catback with stock tune with absolutely no issues.

    • @joshuawood6644
      @joshuawood6644 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@WRXGarage I did have my doubts about that one tuner .In the same conversation, he seemed to be pushing to sell me something. In my area, BrenTuning seems to be the most popular/reliable. Anyway, I'm glad to hear this. I absolutely love the way the r400 looks and I can't wait to hear how it sounds. I was really happy to hear you talk about how this exhaust helps you with your driving/shifts. That is the primary reason I wanted an aftermarket exhaust. I can just barely hear the engine with the stock exhaust. Thanks for the response man!

      WRX and STI have two different engines and two different "downpipes". The WRX's called a Jpipe. STI is a downpipe. They both will mate up to the same catback section.

      You can get some decent burbling and popping from just a catback or axleback. A more rich etune or protune would help too. Keep in mind tho that once you add the downpipe/jpipe, you 100% need a tune to drive the car safely.

      The combination of the r400 with the catted jpipe is actually a really good setup. Definitely loud and aggressive sounding, but not crazy loud all the time when just cruising. The only issue is that it does drone a bit at highway speeds. Again, not that bad if you just turn some music on. I'd say the r400+jpipe is 20-30% louder.
