  • Not one of them is perfect but overall the DT99 Pro's win for me and only because they fit better than Audio-Technica M50X (for my head anyway) plus there is no interference on the Beyerdynamic headset 🤷🏻 .

    This comparison is 10 times better than any other I just watched regarding these two headsets, espacially because you spent most of the video talking about the audio quality and confort, and not the other nonesense. Great work.

    They're both seem good, but for different purposes. Having a close-back and open-back option is good options for people that need the isolation vs more room sound. I'm a sound designer and open-backs are ideal for me in a quiet studio environment (or even gaming) where I'm not getting a lot of environment or room noise. Close backs also have a unique sound but it's more isolated so it's better for in recording sessions where I want to only hear what's being recorded, be it in the studio or field/location. I have the M50, but looking to get a new open-back option. Thanks for the amazing review!!

      Glad to be of help, yeah for me I only use close back now when I travel and open back for everything else I really like the openness of them 👌

    thanks a lot for the detailed and very interesting comparison! especially the kinda oldschool sound profile is an interesting point. have you thought about getting a closed beyerdynamic pair like the 770pro? I worked with them often before but my own pair is somehow not the same confort level and after a short time it's already uncomfortable on my ears... (the thing you love most about your Beyerdynamic) I also read they changed the earpads to a cheaper manufacturer, maybe it got something to do with this :l

      hey man thanks for the kind words :) yes thought about dt770pro's but I dont really need the close back I got used to open back so much by now it just feels odd to have it closed up. Plus the sound coming from open back still feels a bit closer to the sound you receive from the speakers. I think beyerdynamic updated the sound profile on their POR X series. I actually might get a a set to compare now that I'm thinking about it haha

    Thank you for the review. You mentioned that 990 lacking bass. Do they have detachable cable? Which one would you recommend for classic rock listening at home?

    • @CINENIMUS

      It depends on a budget but anything from Sennheiser HD range above £120-150 and open back design would be my recommendation

    Very interesting points. Comfort is priority, but so is modern headphone sound technology like accurate bass, mids, non-analytical highs. So does that mean the only option is expensive Senn. HD600 / 660 ?

    I had 3 ATH (one m40 and two m50s) headsets and I've never had one cable broken
    It's always plastic little details that provide this neat folding feature. If you use them sparingly and carafully, they will last you long enough, but when they break, god this is annoying

    • @CINENIMUS
      @CINENIMUS  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah the fit also was just not for me and the fact that they were closed back - still going strong with my DT990pro's just maybe need new velour pads replaced soon
