THE SQUEAK IS DRIVING ME INSANE!!!!! I thought it was the firewall issue (I put a BIGASS bolt and double washer and tightened that mf down).. STILL SQUEAKED. I was heart broken and was spraying white lithium grease everywhere, but now I know this has to be the issue (I own the exact same year and model). Buying it now for $160 online after dealer price told me $250 (typical dealer BS I suppose.) Thank you so much!

@@iceman49bg took my time with everything and it took me 2 days. I also pop riveted 4 of the spot welds on the fire wall as well as installed the ITS Transmissions pedal assembly brace. Major difference, I'm sure it's because it slowly got bad but it feels great now.
Dont have to drain any fluid or even remove the steering column. Is totally do-able at home so domt bother taking to a shop! Please ask if any questions. It also helps to get the steel plate which holsters the pedal assembly column from the firewall to the steering rack. Part is 160ish, google it
trams229 I am currently doing this repair. I am taking a break for the night. I have the whole thing loose, just trying to figure out how to get it out from under the dash. I haven't taken apart the 40 star bit bolts yet. I need more tools and the parts store is closed.
Any tips on what to do to avoid removing the steering column? I removed it once and it was a pain to get back in, so I want to avoid it. I'll be replacing my pedal assembly next week, so any info will be appreciated. Take care.
You dont have ti remove the steering column at all. Just adjust your steering wheel as far up as you can as you would adjust to use when you drive and that's it May have to move around depending on what bolt areas you re trying to reach to when pulling the pedal assembly out
I'm doing this right now on an 08 wrx. Do you have to drain the slave cylinder when you remove the bolts from the firewall to take out the pedal assembly?
Dont have ti drain anything. It's simply a bolt on procedure between the inside of your car and inside the firewall where it is bolted on to your brake master cylinder. Just time consuming
if anyone has any link to the replacement shoulder bolt with a lock nut for clutch master cylinder stay , i broke one of the bolts there and im desperately looking for a solution without having to go out and find another pedal assembly please if anyone has any type of information that might help me please comment or private message me , thanks alot for your time.
I have an 2010 just fixed the firewall with the humble rumble kit, now my pedal is making that noise. Also did you had issues with the rack and pinion?

Any year between 08-12 pedal assembly will work. Slight difference in plugs between wrx and sti but either one works fine

It’s most likely your pedal assembly or clutch throw out/ release bearing

Can't you just buy the ITS pedal bracket and call it a day?
How many hours did this take you? I got the same thing on my STI, trying not to get ripped off at a shop for labour haha
About 2-3hrs straight due to small areas where you gotta squeeze and reach
