I couldn't get it to work like in the video, so what I ended up doing was resetting the Z-Offset to 0.00mm (Even with it set to -2.00mm, I couldn't get the tool head to get close enough to my 0.25mm feeler gauge without having to alter the Z-offset), and then adjusting the mount, auto homing, adjusting, auto homing, etc., until I got just light pressure on the the feeler gauge. Gap verifies :D
Great, I'm glad you got it set. There are different ways to do it. In the end you should wind up with a Z-offset between .15-.50 through more testing I found that leaving a minimum of .15 gives any softened filament left under the nozzle from a previous print some place to fit during homing. Another thing is to make sure to add a line in your start g-code that warms up the nozzle to something like 130c prior to homing. Not having that in your start g-code will cause any solidified filament under the nozzle to contact the bed prior to the probe triggering leading to an inaccurate measurement.
Enjoy the super accurate bed meshes :)
Greetings Victor, Well done sir and amazing probe mounting system. I'm drilling and tapping the wheel plate on my E3Pro 500 mm to use the second mount screw. I added two Teflon washer to keep from scaring the mount finish as well as give a little finer feel to the contact point during adjustment.
The second mount just arrived and I plan to use it on the E5 Pro as it is Klipper based as the E3Pro is one using Miguel's firmware. Thanks for noting the changes to both UI's. Doc'
Hi Doug, Thank you it's wonderful to hear from you. I'm glad the new aluminum mount is working as advertised. Great suggestion on the teflon washers, they can also be printed. Make sure to add a hotend preheat to like 135c in the start g-code prior to homing. Since the Z-offset is so small any filament on the nozzle tip will need to be soft to mush during the z probe.
I finally have the lobster trap printing beautifully. Next would be to anchor it to the wall so I can increase the print speed. Say hello to "B" and enjoy your week.
Thanks for the excellent walk-through. 👍
PS You forgot to post the link for the bracket. 😉
Hi Loneman_OG, Thank you for your king comment and consideration in supporting my work. Amazon doesn't give me the link option on new products that haven't arrived yet but I needed to create the installation video so I could include a QR code link to it. My plan was to wait until it arrived to Amazon before making the video public but I guess TH-cam notifies subscribers regardless, even if set as unlisted. Amazon should have them received and distributed throughout their fulfillment network within two weeks. Send me an email vbared@gmail.com include your shipping details and PayPal email address if you want me to send you one directly for 29.99 shipped.
Enjoy your Sunday :)
I actually stopped a movie that my wife and I were watching to see what you had up your sleeve this time Victor.
Always making better pieces and thinking outside the box. Link?
Hi Robi, Thank you, my friend. Your a lucky man to have such a wonderful wife. Does she get into the 3D printing with you? I'm going to set a reminder to link it to this message when I'm able to create the link. Amazon won't let me link a new product that isn't in stock yet but I needed to create the TH-cam installation video so I could include a QR code inside the packaging. My plan was to wait until Amazon received the inventory before making the video available for viewing. We plan and God laughs. TH-cam must make unlisted videos available to subscribers. I appreciate your consideration in supporting my work. It should take Amazon about two weeks to receive and distribute to their warehouse network. Email me at vbared@gmail.com and include your shipping details along with PayPal email if you want me to send you one directly for 29.99 shipped.
I hope the movie was awesome :)
With Miguel’s software, how did you lower the nozzle? I cannot go past 0.00 to touch the feeler gauge.
Thanks Victor!!!
Hello friend, to get below zero you first need to change your Z-offset to -2, save and restart the firmware prior to making the adjustment but be sure not to forget to put it back to zero when you're done, save and restart, otherwise the nozzle will crash into the bed when you home it.
I talk about it in this video around the 3 minute mark.
@@vbared Victor,
Got it working… Thank you!
