The more time passes, the more you understand Cordelia's refusal to leave. I think at this point most of us would put up with an angry poltergeist if it was the only thing standing between us and a nice apartment in a major city that's actually affordable.
Yep, it's definitely worlds away from that last place she was staying at! This place is gorgeous, and it would feel like she's actually done something right, when everything else in LA hasn't gone her way 😔
As someone from rent-crazy Los Angeles, I wasn't surprised that Cordelia refused to give up such a steal of an apartment.
“It’s haunted!” “It’s rent-controlled!”
This was SUCH a fun episode and one of my early guilty pleasures with Angel. I think this is a good intro episode for the series with minimal attachment to Buffy or Angel prior to now. Can’t wait to see what is to come!
Yeah, a beautiful, spacious, rent-controlled apartment in a major American city? That's so rare it might as well be a unicorn. I don't blame Cordelia for trying to keep the place despite the ghosts.
Welcome to our newest cast member: Dennis!
He works for practically nothing!
The best phone call in Buffyverse history. "Phantom Dennis - Put that back!" Have a good week.
Dennis has been unliving without a roommate for a bit- he'll catch on.
Phantom Dennis is the best roomie you never see!
Fun fact: Aura is the girl in Episode 1 of Buffy. The one whose locker was stuffed with a dead body by Darla.
I just love Dennis!!! Wouldn't mind having that kind of roommate. 😅
I'd be worried he'd be watching me all the time 🤣
@@julesreacts I get the feeling that Dennis would be too polite to look at the wrong times, since Cordelia was the one that helped him banish his murderer; a different poltergeist might be less honorable
I love this episode because you get some more character development on Cordelia and the beginning of some backstory on Doyle as well as a couple of throwbacks to Sunnydale, such as Cordy's diploma being singed. My favorite bit is how her "mean girl" status in Sunnydale comes full circle with it being referenced twice, first when she is feeling a bit self-conscious about it, feeling that she's being punished for it, but then when it comes back around, it's that same "mean girl" attitude that is exactly what is needed to get rid of Maude and free Dennis.
This has always been one of my favorite episodes of this show.
I actually contributed to something substantial. The song, "You Only Hurt the One You Love." got cleared at the last second and the label bever sent a copy. You are listening to my CD. Unfortunately, I had to sell it in the 2010s.
I was also there for when the apartment first attacks and Angel and Doyle visit. She did a great job dealing with all the practical effects.
great anecdote.
Oh wow, that is honestly incredible! HA! You are brilliant!!
@@julesreacts I was just lucky to have the song on CD and that the guy who got the songs cleared was in a corner office across the room from my desk so I knew they were looking to use the song. But, thank you.
These small little inside behind the scenes tidbits are so fascinating to hear. I hope they keep coming, and I am glad you have found this reaction channel.
@@spamfilter32 Thanks. Though I doubt I will have much after Season 2.
It's interesting to see which reaction viewers understand the title vs don't understand.
I hope you've categorized me in that "understood" bucket as it makes perfect sense to me! It's just a tough one to title as technically it is "Rm w/a Vu" but I'm not sure if people actually SEARCH for that exact wording on TH-cam.
@@julesreacts I do put you in the "understood" column. And I don't know how other people search for it. Personally, I type in _Rm w/a Vu_ when searching the episode's information.
That is good to know! Maybe I should change the title or at least add the proper title to the description. Thank you!!
This is another great episode with a really cool twist. It also has a lot of genuinely unsettling and scary moments, like poor Dennis being sealed away in the wall.
It's a great moment in Cordy's character development too, and while none of us want her to return to her old ways, it's great to see her confidence return. It's also interesting to see that she does regret how she behaved in high school and thinks that she's being punished.
I also just love Dennis, it's such a fun idea to give Cordy a ghost roommate. It's that classic Whedon tendency to turn expectations on their head.
Dennis is actually not too bad at all, when it comes to having a ghostly roomie! I mean, he's better than Kathy 🤣
18:48
There is literally non-existent of Buffy around for miles and Cordy out of no where takes a massive shot at Buffster is hilarious man
Can you believe there's actually a version of this episode that exists without the little flashback at the end, which has confused a few reactors previously as to what actually happened!
Oh wow, really? What a mess up 😱
Yeah, I saw one reactor that watched that version and it was obviously so confusing. They didn't get the ending correctly (honestly how could they?) until someone was able to send them the correct ending clip. So glad Jules got the good cut.
The scene where Cordelia invites herself to stay at Angel's is exactly why Angel wasn't able to tell to Doyle about her - this is who she is and how do you explain that to anyone?
Cordelia:"I think the MANTLE is uneven..."
Doyle:"That thing LUNGED at me!" XD!
12:22 I hope that isn't "Catherine the Great's"cheerleading trophy(from "the Witch")....
I think its awesome that Cordelia found her strength here.
Latest member of Team Angel, Dennis!
Charisma Carpenter had similar experience in real life with rogue spirits as a child. She spoke of it at length on the Celebrity Ghost Stories show.Tough lady, pretty too. Cute as ever Jules.Corvine Crusader
Oh wow, I didn't know that! Very cool!!
Cordelia comeback to Dennis's mother was amazing, you don't mess with her!
Cordelia standing up for herself is so good, and such a wonderful moment where she kind of learns to use her ‘mean girl’ attitude the right way, going from bully to fighter in a way, it’s some great growth
Room with a vu is still one of my alltime fave episodes
It was SO well done!!
"I'm not a little cry-Buffy!"
Phantom Dennis is the real MVP.
Honestly, the purest character on Angel. I hope he was able to eventually move onto the afterlife.
Holly crap this episode was sooo good! Especially with the friendly ish ghost at the end, it make way for more entertaining episodes with paranormal in the future🙂 Thanks so much Juliette! 🥰Have a wonderful night!
Cordy gets her mojo back.
I love this episode. I remember when I first saw this episode, I was horrified by the twist that the mother killed her own son. Talk about a gruesome way to go. *shudder But we get to see a little more depth to Doyle (and open up some curious questions about his past), and we get to see a vulnerable Cordelia remember who she is and stand up for herself. That moment when she stands up against that horrible ghost and says, "I'm not a whiny little Cry-Buffy. I'm the biggest bitch in Sunnydale history... Pack your ghost bags and get the HELL out of my HOUSE!" Marvelous. Yay, Cordelia. 😄 (Though a bit of an OUCH insult about Buffy, sheesh, Cordelia! Lol.)
I also am completely charmed by the idea of Cordelia having a ghost as a roommate. "Hey, hey! Phantom Dennis! Put that back." Lol!
I think anyone else and Dennis would rule the house, for sure! But Cordy? Nah... he's got his work cut out for him 🤣
The boys, both duckling and alpaca, have huge crushes on Cordelia. They even said she is the 2 best reasons to watch the show, whatever that means. Doyle's mysterious past is intriguing to the girls. They are way over Angel, they're not so forgiving since the evil spell, and Ms. Calendar.
Have a wonderful day.
Nawwww the boys like Cordy! I'd like to think she'd react with her big smile, the kind of smile that says "I'm smiling, but I'm actually terrified".
Don't tell them I said that 😵
I just realized how long he was trapped in that wall and just how much he missed. I don't know how many fizzy drinks were around in the '40's then but I can't imagine how badly he wanted to taste that drink (forgetting he couldn't anyway) and to see what T.V. is.
This is the episode in which _Angel_ pays homage to one of the most classic of horror stories, _The Cask of Amontillado._ With a classic Whedonesque twist, of course.
Gotta love Denis in this show. Rm w/a Vu ( the tilte of course refers to the old classified adverts in the papers years ago to rent out flats ) was a funny and interesting episode in some ways shadowing BTVS S4 episode Living Conditions, with Angel's carefree bachelor pad being invaded by Cordelia causing disruption similar to Buffy and Kathy in Living Conditions. We know that the house Cordelia takes has to have something wrong with it as its so cheap and available. Denis the person who the evil mother walled up and murdered becomes Cordelia's ghostly flatmate. Cordelia facing down the evil mother is a great scene, and Denis and her have the perfect relationship. Some great one liners and comedy again here as well in this episode.
Allen Francis Doyle: Hey, you high school diploma is all burned.
Cordelia: Yeah, it was a rough ceremony. 😊😊😊 we know.
Cordelia's friend Aura is first seen in the series premiere of Buffy, Welcome to the Hellmouth (1997), in which the Buffyverse's first dead body, a boy bitten and drained by Darla, falls out of her gym locker.
A very good episode for Queen Cordy.
@16:26 Cordelia's head moves back and off the cord a split second before Angel and Doyle start lifting her up off the electrical cord noose.
"crybuffy" 🤣🤣🤣
Trivia: Beth Grant, who played Maude, has a metric ton of acting credits in both movies and film…most of which I haven’t seen. Yep, that’s all I got. :)
Now you've seen "I will Remember You" I did actually wonder if at one point this episode was supposed to come a little later in the running order, with the 'unknown' peanut butter stain on Angel's bed actually being from that. I mean probably not, but I did always wonder.
OOOHHHH yes!! I love that connection!!
Poor Dennis, Angel pawned Cordelia off to him.
Angel didn't want to deal with her 🤣
I don't know how well you know American cartoons, but Cordelia calling the ghost Casper was a reference to Casper the Friendly Ghost, first a comic book character and later a children's television show if my memory serves.
Hi Jules!
1. Loved the reaction and had to keep myself from laughing during your assumptions about the mother.
2. I could never relate more with Doyle, than watching him see Cordelia at Angel's place (reminded me of seing my best friend in school/high school date a girl, that I told him I had a crush on a couple of days earlier, he didn't even knew her previous to me telling him about her).
Have a wonderful day.
I loved the twist at the end!! That mother got me good 🤣
Thank you 💜😊
At the end, when Cordelia is on the phone with Aura, she refers to the ghost as Phantom Dennis.
This was meant to be joke at the time, as Star Wars: The Phantom Menace had just been released a while earlier.
If I'm wrong about when the release occurred, I hope someone corrects me.
All the things you said, I feel, are true! I also believe that this episode highlighted the resiliency of the folks from Sunnydale! Seeing ghosts and demons are nothing new so Cordelia is far better able to cope with a haunted house, especially one that is in the same price range as the other apartments, while looking like that! Haunted house, murder house... you'll not find places that are affordable on an administrative assistant's wages alone in LA anymore! I am glad that Cordelia was able to come to terms with her behavior from Sunnydale, and ultimately overcome the ghost to become the "b!+ch" she used to be once more! And now, she has a "roommate!" So fun! Looking forward to the next one!
I fully think that Cordy can handle just about anything! She's from Sunnydale 🤣
@@julesreacts LOL! Agreed!
Thank you Juliet for this reaction of Angel! Great reaction as usual! Glad you're doing Angel as well as Buffy now
Thank you so much for being here 😊
I liked Dennis as a character, and he does come up from time to time in the show, as for Doyle, we;ll learn more, as will Cordie, so wait and see..... so much is yet to come, so hold on tight, and sit back and enjoy!
Dennis doesn't seem too bad, as far as ghosts go!
I quite liked Phantom Dennis.
Hello, Jules!💜 Good Tuesday morning to you.
A little Cordelia-centric tale this episode - spooky stuff! Let's see if you like it, too.🫣
A few good reveals, of sorts, in this one. Cordelia is a Force to be reckoned with, no doubt.
I liked, again, Angel's deadpan humor - "... she can't type or file. Till today I had some hope regarding the phone."
Cordelia and Angel's small moment about redemption - a nice little bit. Angel letting Cordelia know he understands her.
And Doyle just has great lines. Very guarding of his history though.
Quite the "gotcha" here, wasn't it, Jules? A good all around episode - all manner of things happening.
But this was Cordelia's episode - she's has started a recovery - a fantastic apartment - that front window is pretty awesome - and a new friend. She's on her way. I don't think she'll revert to Sunnydale Cordelia, but she certainly hasn't forgotten her.
Have a great day, Jules.💜🤗 Pat the cats, and give the 3rd a wave.🤭 I'm off to dive with Dave! 🥰😊
Tom💜😸
Angel is SO very deadpan! You know, there are moments when he does this little smile and he looks SO different. He looks like a different person. He's SO different from the Angel on Buffy. I loved him there, but on here? He shines. He's given a chance to shine. I adore him 🥰
I LOVED the twist at the end SO much! I didn't for one second think it would end that way! It was brilliant!
I'll pat the third cat but he's in the bad books today because he did something bad on the floor which I had to clean up at 6am 🤣 He IS in my office with me though, which is somewhat of a redemption!
Have a most wonderful day, Tom 🥰
Awesome video as always dude! Hope you have a great week!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the episode 😸💜
I thought I was difficult to live with until I saw this episode. Great reaction! Hope you have a wonderful week!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Thank you, Becca 😊💜💗
Love this ghost story. There a few X-file like episodes this year. This isn't really one of those but certainly not a vampire story. More a twilight zone episode.
Love her acting out the Antlers - Feelers with her fingers.
Good Old Phantom Dennis.
Great it's Monday and Angel here today I'm really liking Angel and i think Cordelia is more better on Angel than on Buffy, after Angel goes off I'll
watch you playing Dave the Diver, have a wonderful week and I can't wait
to watch Dave the Diver Thank You my Friend Juliette.👋😁👋

I really enjoyed it especially with Cordelia
she makes the show a little humorous
at times and can't wait for the next Buffy
episode either Thanks Juliette.🇦🇺🐈⬛🇦🇺
Double upload double support like always
Aww thank you! I hope you watch and enjoy the episodes!
Such a great episode and thank you for the suoer reaction, Jules.
My pleasure 😊 thank you for being here 💜
How the hell is Angel even at Cordelia's house in the middle of the day
Great question! I think they are taking a fair few liberties, but also I guess he wears a blanket or umbrella a lot. He seems to be out and about a LOT more than when he was on Buffy 🤣
@@julesreacts yeah but he didn't even have an umbrella with him and he wasn't wearing a blanket when he showed up
I think we need to sometimes forget about things being 100% accurate 🤭 Maybe he was wearing SUPER HIGH sunscreen that day haha
@@julesreacts oh stop it lol I guess we'll never REALLY kno
hi Jules!! 🌞🌞💖💖👋👋👋👋👋👋
Hello 😸😸
dennis!
I don't have much to add, so a comment for the algorythm.
Aww thank you!!
👍
The way the title was written, Rm w/a Vu refers to how places were advertised in the newspaper. The fewer letters, the better for the person placing the ad. The more letters used, the higher the cost.
Yes, that's correct 😊 I'm old enough to remember newspaper advertisements as I grew up with no internet 😜
Something subtle that I love (and I only picked up on upon rewatch) is that Doyle knew about the apartment before it was listed. So did he see it in a vision? It seems so, since that's where the episode's conflict ends up lying!
I didn't even think he could have seen it in a vision!! I thought he just knew about it.... MAN! This makes so much sense!
But if that's so, why didn't take credit for finding the apartment himself instead of saying "I know a guy"? 🤔 He seems to really want to win Cordelia over, after all.
@@adamdavis1648 I mean he still gets the credit if he knows the guy. But if it happens to turn out that the place isn't as good as it looked at 'first glance', then he can blame his guy and not himself.
It’s a much more sophisticated shiw than Buffy. I think they knew they’d have to adjust to keep the old fans. Fans were getting older and expected more, made it feel like it was for adults where Buffy feels like it’s for teens. Well, it was. 🙄
It definitely feels that way! Angel is a whole different show. I love it!
Bite your tongue. Dennis is not some creepy guy...😅
I will admit he's not too bad 🤣
Hey Mrs Jules! Looking lovely as always. Are you by any chance going to watch Monarch: Legacy of Monsters? It stars Kurt Russell
I've not heard of that! I'll have to check it out!
When do you think you'll want to start X-Files again? It's hard to believe it's only been 2 weeks because you upload so often but I only binged it once a few years ago so I need your reactions to remember what all 200 odd episodes are about.
In the last video I mentioned a break over Christmas until January 😊 I'm still watching the episodes in the meantime but just not putting myself under so much pressure and stress to edit 4 reactions per week over the holidays 💜
@@julesreacts Oh, yeah, that's right.
Good reaction
Thank you, Freddie!!
