What a list! That Maen looks stunning! Id just like to chip in with the Pagani Speedy as a moonwatch alternative. It is a quartz movement so certainly not for some people but the specs are amazing for about £60. Great video as always Kieron, cheers 👍
Aye, I do like that model, it offers exceptional value for money. I tried to not do homage watches though, as I think that they're an obvious alternative. I tried to offer something that still has its own story. But without question, a value good value alternative is that Pagani 👌

Bulova lunar pilot is the better speedy bargain alternative i reckon - a genuine moon watch high frequency chrono for 500quid.
Props to casio aq230 for not being a homage. the only one with its own vibe. Gem.

I agree, I felt that the Lunar Pilot was a bit obvious so I decided to go with something different, but very good suggestion.
I find it fascinating how certain brands/models are not available in the US, say from Amazon or the like.
I greatly appreciate your passion for the collecting hobby. I am fiercely resisting the urge to jump down this rabbit hole but there are so many temptations it is becoming more difficult. ;-)

That's a decent list. Some I never heard of before. There are a lot of Tudor homage watches also with the snow flake hands some even have the higher beat rate of 28,800 vph
By any reasonable measure, the Maen Manhattan a homage to the VC 2215 but still a great watch nonetheless.

Another Orient watch that I like in that haute horology style is the Sun and Moon. I plan to get the open heart with mother of pearl blue dial.
Nice choice. I was tempted to feature the sun and moon instead of the Bambino, but I feel like the Bambino v8 will be a more popular model

@@gabrielpraslin9576 I do get what you mean, the asymmetrical layout is a bit odd. And it's a little chunky too, but that red dial is lovely.
I got lucky and i got the oris rectangular for about 800$,not sure if it qualifies as budget but still much closer to a tank than a casio.
Really surprised the Invicta Pro Diver with NH35A (seiko) movement didn't make the cut. Throw on a NATO strap and I've put mine through dives, banged on the ground, engines.. just unbelievable peice for the money and is not your usual flashy invicta. Next to my friends real submariner it's quite impressive for an $80 automatic. I'd even say a great first automatic and all round "daily driver" to get someone in the hobby.
My dad has a pro diver, he loves it. I tend not to recommend homage watches though, I try to find watches that have some of their own originality

The Citizen watch would be perfect, but the inset crown at 4 o'clock for no obvious reason, kills it for me.

What I concerned with, of course, is the quality and materials used for those homages and interpretations. For example, I would wish Bambino used better materials, had greater durability and water resistance. Even though I, personally, would be more happy with interesting aesthetically and high quality original designs, like that made in the US Maen or, say Mido TV big date watches.
Most of these are fairly original designs, they certainly aren't 1for1 homages.
The Citizen is not an alternative to the Rolex. The Citizen is a superior product! Fact!

Most Chinese homages I'd buy if it wasn't for the name on the dial.
This advice seems highly flawed. Buying a cheap copy of something you really want, is always a disaster. Just save up, and get the real thing.
Then you don't have to watch these disappointing videos, so both time and money saved?

I just bought a Maen Man 37. I put it into the search area, and your video came up. As the algorithm spews up your content, I gave you the opportunity to show if you've improved. You haven't! If I get recommended, I'll watch, and then comment. I think you're wrong to suggest people buy many sub-standard pieces, rather than something special that they can treasure forever. When I stop thinking this, I will moderate my behaviour. Hopefully you will too, and soon, as it's a bit lowest common denominator from your end. You don't have to read my comments if you don't want to?
