Seiko released a size-appropriate field watch SRPJ85 (36.4mm) which is a smaller version of the SRPG39 (39mm). Field watches of WWII were designed to be small enough to fit under the sleeves of a field jacket and a field shirt. The original dirty dozen field watches were between 35mm and 38mm. It should also be sandblasted and not polished (unless you want the enemy to see you from the gleam of your watch).
About Citizen Promaster- no idea why people don't mention it's better looking brother BN0190 and the automatic NY-0085, whose predecessor rivaled the skx...
I'm not a big fan of the crown on the left. And I think eco-drive is just a good movement to have in the collection, being the first solar powered movement ever. From a watch nerd point of view, I just think it's cool.
@@TopTierTicker BN0190 and the more expensive BN0200 are Eco-Drive models. For me personally, solar is great as only one watch, but I don't like it for a collection as it will mostly stay in dark box and when after 10 years the special battery or something else dies it's gonna cost more than changing regular battery every 3 years.
@@emperor4677really? You're offering that argument against solar watches while talking about automatics? Automatic watches keeps on ticking when sitting in a dark box? It's cheap to service an automatic?
@@troll2637 I own mostly quartz watches, and from the 2 automatics I own, when I use one, I use it a whole week day after day so I don't have to set it up multiple times... also if I grab an auto for a day I don't even bother setting the time- it's 3 hours and 12 days off... don't care - the watch looks good, it works and that's all that matter
Great content sir. Well done. I wonder why you didn't include the Hamilton Khaki line in your field watch category. They are reasonably priced and of very good quality. Just curious if there was a specific reason you excluded them. I understand you could not recommend an unlimited number of watches but this one seems a no brainer to me. Keep up the good work. I just hit the subscribe button....
I tried to keep all watches as affordable as possible. The Hamilton Khaki Field sits at over £500 from most places. Which I considered too expensive for this particular video. Still a fantastic watch that I've recommend before though!
Some excellent choices there! First two were easy: Divers: From your selection, Orient Kamasu, NO doubt whatsoever! From my collection: Doxa Sub 300T. Chronograph: From your selection: Seagull 1963, and from my collection: Exactly the same. It's actually my most accurate mechanical watch, gaining a second every 4 days on average. Everyday watch: From your selection: Surprisingly, the Citizen! From my collection: My old Accurist Reverse Panda Chrono, it's survived everything I've thrown at it, including 3 years in the Army, and 20+ years of rock climbing and mountaineering! Field watch: From your selection: CWC, personally I'd go for the mechanical (Unless I was going into combat where timing is critical). From my collecion: A 1945 German WW2 issue 'DH' watch by Doxa, maybe not technically a 'field watch', but it was military issue and probably saw combat. Dress watch: From your collection: Seiko Cocktail Time....Easy choice. From my collection: Another vintage Doxa. GMT, Your selection: The Seiko, with Glycine as a close second. My collection: Same, the Blueberry one. Pilot Watch: Your selection: Easy choice! The Laco. From my 'Future collection' One of the Laco 'Erbstuck' range OR a genuine WW2 vintage B-Uhr (B-Dial). Beater: From your collection: F91W. Could go same from my collection, but I'll go for a Vostock Amphibia. Great vid. Thank You.
Love your selection of both my picks and your own collection / goals. Sounds like you have a good idea where you'd like to head in the near future with your collection too, which is always the smart thing to do. Keep on collecting, and make sure you enjoy it too! 🙏
Thanks :D My collection, and the direction I'm aiming at heading doesn't have ANY sort of theme, or logic to it, but I DO have a fairly clear idea of what watches I like, and which ones I don't, so that certainly makes it easier! 'Investment' / long term value isn't really part of the plan, as I'm buying them to wear and enjoy, NOT for financial reasons. Only been in the hobby for a couple of years, but really enjoying it so fa! Thank You for the as always interesting and informative vid!
24 hour dial….I IMMEDIATELY FF to the next watch. Instant (INSTANT) kills my interest and the deal. I own the Dan Henry. Great quartz watch and Dan has personally corresponded with me on my next DH. His web site/ history site is awesome. Dude, you’ve been knocking them out of the park! Another superb vid. Thanks
Man, I REALLY hate the “fashion dial” on any chronograph but especially on a Quartz watch. No one can call Seiko and order up a hot batch of VK- 67 movements ? They support a genuinely historically correct (you would be laughed out of flight school with a Speelunker dial. ) set of components that are a must for Pilots. I am told manufacturers use the worthless 24 hour dial as a fashion balance…yeah Buddy, I’m all about the fashion when it comes to TOOL WATCHES. Geeeze…12 hour totalizer is vital for flight ops and is easily the very best for timing…a 500 mile cross country, a slow boat to China..…name it. Try the new Tri-compax Baltany with said VK-67 movement. Has the old Val Joux 7750 feel. Nice review but I do prefer individualized vids. I too have a computer. Congrats on 10K subs and I do enjoy your channel ! Thanks PS I will be surprised if you don’t mention this watch….I started ranting about a third of the way in, lol 😂
Depends on your wrist size. If your wrist is above 7 inches the 40mm will fit you perfectly. If its below, it gets a little tighter. That's when it's worth considering the 35. I'd recommend visiting a local AD and trying some on! All the best

SeaQ and other classic divers from the 1960's...with all of the quality specs...incl a high beat ST2130 mov't. Glidelock bracelet. 4) Thorn SHY036 Titanium diver for $185; a homage to the Tudor Pelagos 39mm. Exceptional fit/finish/materials with high beat (28800bph) PT5000 mov't. The Ti bracelet is incredible. 5) DeepBlue Master 2000, $800 with ETA 2824-2 mov't and He escape valve; extreme diver. 6) Aragon DiveMaster 42mm for $150, with NH36 movement, classic but standout design...one of my favorite dive designs, perfectly proportioned and sized. Great Lume.
Out of your choices. Dive watch = Alkin. Chronos = Yema Rallygraf (I own one). Every day watch = Baltic. Field watch = none of yours, I'd get a Hamilton. Dress watch = Merkur. The GMT = None of yours, it would be the Chris Ward C63 GMT or even the Batavi Kosmopoliet. Pilot watch = I liked the Zeppelin, but none of them beat a Glycine Airman. Beater watch = I bought a used Rotary Henley GMT for £60. Sapphire crystal, great lume, good water resistance, a decent bracelet, and a good Ronda quartz GMT movement. In summary, I hate Casio watches, and the only Seiko I like is the Alpinist
@@TopTierTicker oh trust me I know. They always look decent on video but they feel horrible in hand imo . They feel and wear exactly what their price suggests. In my experience watch enthusiasts generally wish they started their journey in the watch tier just above these brands as generally they end up selling them for huge loses down the line to get something better.
@@i_read_bad_reviews I mean it's impossible to take a huge loss on a $200 watch. In fact, I made profit on my Bambino, and I could definitely sell my Kamasu for more than I paid for it. So that argument doesn't work. The Orient Kamasu is one of the best affordable watches in the world, my red version is incredible. The movement is great, the dial work is top tier and the overall quality is way higher than most other big brands at this price.
@@emperor4677 eh. can't argue with that logic.
Brilliant video mate! Getting into watches lately and want to start a collection, top watch shouts in this video 👍
Congrats on surpassing 10k subs 🎉
Another great video and loving your background.
Haha thanks, I spent the day switching around the man cave so it looks better in the back :)
Dive watch - Orient kamasu
Chronograph - Bulova Lunar Pilot
Everyday - Citizen tsuyosa
Field - Boldr venture
Dress - Seiko cocktail time
GMT - Casio Worldtimer
Pilot - Av-8 Kent
Beater - G-Shock Casioak (to mod)
Nice choices! Good well rounded collection there, probably more so than mine!
Congrats on 10k chief.... great to see some nighthawk love here 😎 🙌

Thank you Nizar, I appreciate the support as always
24 hour dial….I IMMEDIATELY FF to the next watch. Instant (INSTANT) kills my interest and the deal. I own the Dan Henry. Great quartz watch and Dan has personally corresponded with me on my next DH. His web site/ history site is awesome. Dude, you’ve been knocking them out of the park! Another superb vid. Thanks
Great video and lots of great choices!!
great video and excellent picks!
Good Lord - that cream on cream Orient Defender is amazing!
Where can I find that? It's not on their website.
Creation watches & Jomashop are usually my go tos.

My pleasure!
I'll puchase the red orient kamasu right now.
Good choice. I'm literally wearing it as I type this message! Fantastic watch!
Citizen Tsuyosa looks so good
Excellent work
Cheers Ben, good to have you on the channel
Could you do an episode about Edox watches? What do you think about it etc
Great job, congrats 😊
Congratulations. Is better.

My GMT watch is a Glycine but the original GMT the Glycine Airman
Fantastic content!
Would you recommend the citizen tsuyosa or the tissot prx?
Tsuyosa 100%
Thanks
PS I will be surprised if you don’t mention this watch….I started ranting about a third of the way in, lol 😂
Quick question about the PRX, with it being a built in bracelet - is it too big for a skinny wrist?
Depends on your wrist size. If your wrist is above 7 inches the 40mm will fit you perfectly. If its below, it gets a little tighter. That's when it's worth considering the 35. I'd recommend visiting a local AD and trying some on! All the best
The Orient kamasu or Mako 3 is the best one and done watch.

Is it possible to get my hands on a lorier falcon? Wasn’t able to find a retailer online
I believe Lorier is the only retailer that sells them
Does anyone know the name of the 2nd citizen nighthawk shown ? New to watches and I think it looks great but can't seem to find it
Citizen nighthawk blue angels?
I wish the Seiko Monster would get some mention, such a uniquely designed watch that is recognizable from far.
very cool video !!! (just a friendly observation : you skip too fast on the pictures...)
Hi im looking for daily wear watch goes with formal and casual. Can u Please suggest one or two watches?
Thanks

Anything from the 'everyday' section of this video!

My favorite budget dive watches in my collection:
1) SteelDive [SD1953] submariner homage for US$100; in Stainless Steel with ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, exc. lume, and dependably S.I. NH35 mov't.
2) Cronos [L6006] Cpt. Willard homage for $130; with CuSn8 Bronze case/bezel, sapphire crystal, exc. lume, and high beat (28800bph) PT5000 mov't.
3) Seestern S435 for $200, a homage to the G.O.
Great Lume.
Can you recommend a box?
I have a video on my channel for the best watch box under $100, check it out
Dive watch is like a cd player. 1 out of 10,000 people has a real use for it
When you said budget I wasn’t expecting over $1000 watches lol.
Should’ve this been the “my dream watch collection “?
All 50 watches? 😆
Please do watches under 200 usd

Same old same old
If it's not sub-$100 it's not affordable or budget to me.
Watches have DNA ? WTF ?
Poor recomendations. What is it with watch channels? All they do is talk about the same 50 watches over and over and over........
Pointless as they will all go down in value, not a good investment at all.
Just like British food and design of all British things the alkin looks very bland
Just like most offensive commentors, a profile without a face picture and no real name... Insecurity is a funny old thing
I’m sorry but Tissot and orient feels like a fashion watch that came out of a vending machine
Two of the most respected watchmakers in the affordable watch world. The history of the two brands are incredible, I suggest you look them up
@@TopTierTicker oh trust me I know. They always look decent on video but they feel horrible in hand imo . They feel and wear exactly what their price suggests. In my experience watch enthusiasts generally wish they started their journey in the watch tier just above these brands as generally they end up selling them for huge loses down the line to get something better.
@@TopTierTickercheck out Jack Mason based out of Texas. They make some decently nice budget piece's.
Yes, if you go Microbrand you get more 'value', but for people like me, who value history, Tissot and Orient are some of the best
@@TopTierTicker to each their own.
