If I remember, Cody had said whilst Dusty and Dustin were in a bad spot when Goldust debuted, Cody remembers when the family was watching when the first promo for Goldust was cut, when he would look at his dad, Dusty was secretly smiling when watching it on TV. Dusty loved his kids, even when he was mad at em
I saw Goldust wrestle in 2012 in a basement in NY in front of 50 ppl when he was trying to get back into the swing of things. Nicest guy. Friggin tall. He said he was trying to get back in
Goldust is a legendary character. Had it been portrayed by a wrestler without Dustin's pedigree it would've failed miserably. It was a fantastic gimmick at the perfect time.
It was a copy of Exotic Adrian Street.
In a way yes they did similar things. The world has evolved a lot in the past 30 years lol. What was a heel before might be a face these days.
@@maskcollector6949 Similar is an understatement.
His wrestling heel was one of the few that could be genuinely disturbing. He did an amazing job.
He was so entertaining in the ring!
Goldust during the electrocution era was hilarious
Great on the mic
Early on I didn’t love his character but once the bizarre went in a more psychotic direction I loved it. Wish people took him more seriously as a performer his gimmick is one of the few odd ones to survive the attitude era
Goldist was one of my favorites growing up, I didn't realize it at the time, but whenever he was on you couldn't look away from the screen, especially with razor ramon
I really commend Dustin for serving the WWE for all the years he did as Goldust. Because as a young kid - I thought the gimmick was weird, lame and just not cool in any way. It was VERY funny - I have to admit that. But I believe Dustin always deserved better honestly, looking back.
It helped him to create his own identity and get out from under the large shadow of his father.
This character was ballsy for its time. Highly underrated heel and Dustin was a great wrestler.
I watched Dustin Rhodes in WCW as a kid when he was “The Natural”. When I found out he was Goldust I couldn’t believe it
Dustin is a legend. He killed it with Goldust!
One of the greats 💯💯💯
When Gold Dustin popped out in a promo for a kendo stick match. If ya know, you just smiled.
He did what he had to do and nailed it!!!!!!!
I love these behind the scenes stories.
Goldust would have made a great European champion
"Shattered Dreams" is the greatest finishing move of all time!
This guy has got to have some damn good stories... Give him the floor and let him speak
His Vince impression is AMAZING
"Dustin wanted to get breast implants and we had to talk him out of it" - Jim Cornette
Lucky it wasn't 2023, someone probably would get a sex change to get over lmao
WHAT?
@@frostedbutts4340Jim Cornette would be cancelled in 2023 for talking him out of it
@@frostedbutts4340lol, what an illogical statement made by someone trapped in a bubble...
@@frostedbutts4340 It's been 0 days since someone last made an irrelevant social commentary on CuRrEnT yEaR
People don’t understand how much heat and over he was at that time, I remember being at a house show at the cow palace, the type of shyt people were yelling on his way back to the dressing room. Was nuclear heat, Easily top 10 heels of all time
"The crowd exploded on me!" Pause lol
I always liked the Goldust character. I never could figure out why, but the character was just interesting.
Guaranteed a future Hall of Famer.
That character is a classic. That music would hit, light flash and the glitter would start falling along with Marlena walking beside him holding her Cogar😂. That shit was awesome.
Dustin honestly made a character that was a jobber and kept gold around his waist for years. Never stayed at the top, but was always close.
Man Wcw dustin was one of my earliest wrestlers i remembered knowing and liking... boy was i shocked when i realized😂
Gold dust could've been a good WWE champion he was a good intercontinental champion the fans would've loved him as WWE champion they could've done a lot more n better with him
Props to Savio and Dustin. That character was WAY ahead of it's time.
Dustin does a pretty good Vince McMahon voice
His Vince McMahon impression is spot on
He’s definitely one of foundering Fathers of the attitude era
As a kid watching from 2008-13, I liked Goldust. He was entertaining
Dustin is a very underrated wrestler in his own right. Even in AEW as an "old hat" he's adding new moves to his repertoire, doing great work. Would have liked to see his natural self as an alter ego to Golddust.
I never really got to watch his matches as a kid because my dad always made us change the channel any time he was on the screen and gave us this long speech about how it was a sin and all that bs. It was the first thing I can remember that brought my dad's beliefs into question for me. Goldust helped make me a free-thinker just by existing.
Your father was a sensible man for that. You are a disgrace to him
i stopped watching wrestling in about the mid 80s just because i was starting high school and i was out doing things and i was playing guitar and trying to be in bands and stuff, but just every now and then in the 90s i would catch an episode when my roommates would be watching. so i saw Goldust every now and then and mostly was just curious and confused about what the hell he was supposed to be? he looked like he was supposed to be an alien or something, but based on like one of those weird 70s glam rock era sci fi films. and he would come to the ring with like a sexy girl companion but then he would do flirty sexual stuff towards his opponents so i was like is he supposed to be gay or bi or is he just supposed to be mentally messing with their heterosexuality to throw them off their game? so i was just utterly confused what exactly the gimmick was. now to hear this, he was supposed to be a movie star! how the hell is your gimmick that you are a movie star if you dont actually have any movies?
Goldust was pure entertainment and Dustin absolutely killed that. Something about it was just awe-inspiring. Cant find a person that doesnt pop for Shatter Dreams 🤷♂️
Vince created a universe
One of the best characters for sure and perfect person to play it
Vince is a Genius because Gold dust was Definitely one of the top 5 all time great Characters..He knew Dustin Would become a huge star. Gold dust was no joke. He could wrestle incredibly well. ..in fact he was one of the best ever in Ring entertainer's...him and Taker..neck in neck there.
Isaac Yankem would beg to differ on Vince's genius.
Something just popped in my head when he said Vince McMahon now stays in his office and back in the day he was one of the fans I think he needs to come out of the office and be one of the fans again and for the gold dust character Hands down in my top five growing up watching him make that character what it is amazing my hat goes off to him
We all know why he was in the office now.
@@The3nd187 Sad thing about it is that everybody knew I knew one person in my life with that kind of money they all do it The one question I’ve been asking for the last day or two is which one of the family members release the information because it came out quite conveniently right when he was trying to get back into the company I thought my family was messed up sad to see a legacy get tarnished like that I don’t think I can ever recover I’m surprised wrestling is still on TV and not cancelled like everything else I haven’t watched wrestling for a very long time don’t think I’ll ever again
Dustin has always been a favorite of mine.
Dustin Rhodes was a fun wrestler to watch. Unique and silky smooth arsenal in the ring. The classic guy who works with the guy that draws the house.
Beautiful story. Always loved Goldust’s entrances! 🎉
I loved Goldust he was my fav from that era.
Listening to him tell it makes me realize how good he was as an actor as well of an amazing wrestler.
I like how everyone nails that vince voice
Great to hear it from his mouth. Couldn't stand Golddust when he first came out. He quickly became my favorite in the video game because everybody hated him. And he was pretty good
I think he should've been wwf champ once with the goldust character. He did such a good job with what he was given.
