When we went on our first shake down cruise on the USS Theodore Roosevelt is the only time the flight deck was that empty. But even then we had equipment everywhere. The big white crane truck was always behind the island and there were several other crash trucks and powered Dollies scattered about. When we went out for shock trials, we had aircraft with accelerometers stuck on them to see how much shock from the explosion went into the airframe. But that is is. Once we went on our first cruise it was packed. The hangar bay was even worse. Walking around was a huge hazard to your forehead.
Thanks for the insights! The configuration in this template was based on most common configurations I found on google images. But I'm no expert and tips insights are appreciated.
If you get into the right LUA files you can tweak the weapons and explosives, you can give gun rounds explosive properties of a JDAM and each round hitting the ground is like a bomb going off, you can change the range of missiles and turn a Maverick into a 100km range nuke... all sorts of fun stuff. But, save a back up otherwise you will either have to reinstall or remember which lines in which files you changed if you want them all back. Right now stuck with the Stennis (Not that its a bad thing Hello Stennis Crew) just that it is totally empty, not even people on board, you can place static objects on it. No ACLS though...yet I dont think or I havent figured it out. Enjoyed your video, an spend almost as much time in the editor as in the sim.
You guys(modders) are the reason i still play DCS and to be honest i come always to the conclusion that ED is very very lazy, they speak about passion but that's a cliche that sounds good, they should be doing this, like so many other stuff around DCS, get new refuel tankers, add weekly challenges to the DCS world where you could wil prestige in your career as a pilot, make us spawn when the elevator is rising for example, trying to create a good career mode where in the end you gain some kind of reputation-is getting boring as hell...dear lord they are so so so so focus on just things to sale they will end up killing the vibe of this sim, veteran DCS fans like me are getting bored to death and i'm not the only one..always the same old same, i like it because became part of my enjoyment flying and lately even more in Single player...i don't know after 15 years of DCS this sim could be Majestic but it isn't, is ok is great yeah..but it wont go the extra mile on the consumer-user end. tx for this i will try
That's pretty cool using scripts! I've been creating dynamic decks from scratch, having different planes with delayed start routines. It'd be nice to save the ones I create as templates so I don't have to recreate them each time I create a mission.
Yes, I end up always recreating carrier statics each mission and it takes a long time. These script will hopefully be able to recreate carrier decks quickly, even if there is a few mission editor triggers that need to be setup for each mission for the radio menus.
You can copy/paste an entire carrier group (including support escort ships) simply by copying the group from one mission and then pasting it into your new mission

Wrong. The whole purpose of buying the Super Carrier module is to take off and land on an aircraft carrier. Period. You don't buy a module for eye candy. I was ships company on the CVN-71 Theodore Roosevelt and I can use static objects to get all the eye candy to make it seem more real. So you need to check your priorities. The fact they got it so good that you can take off and land is AMAZING

One of the limitations of spawning statics on the deck is that it doesn't work well in multi-player with a pitching carrier deck. Overall, this looks great for SP purposes.

@@Adalla Did you join as a host or as a client? When I fly as a client from my dedicated server the aircraft spawned at mission start are fine, but those spawned after are sunk into the deck.

Hi bud, my graphics are MAX at 1080p. For Reshade, I keep tweaking but currently use Curves "Conrast" maxed at 1.000, FakeHDR "Power 1.234, Radius 1 0.741, Radius 2 0.766", LumaSharpen "strength 0.65, sharpening limit 0.035, offset bias 1.000". Sometimes I use Levels instead of FakeHDR, and sometimes I use both, depending on how bright the environment it. My gamma is generally high up to 2.3, but i do go from 1.8 to 2.3 depending on conditions. For dusk and night, I generally turn gamma up and switch off some reshade cause youc cant see squat! Play around with Curves Contrast and Fake HDR Power/Radius 1 and 2 and gamma. Those are the biggest contributors.
This is great! However, it would be easier to compare the two ships layouts shown in the first few minutes if the ships were facing the same way...! Surely that's not to hard to do....?

I would also remove the Greyhound and Prowlers, and folded wing Seahawks as they are mods, to have only base game skins and aircraft. Or maybe keep the Greyhound and Seakhawks and ask folks to download the respective mods.

Yeah, this was just a proof of concept test. I'll be adding crew and deck equipment, and in future may integrate it with custom aircraft AI paths. I run 1080p max settings, and did not get any noticeable performance hits.
I thought you were going to show how you did this in Mission Editor. Call me racist but personally I don't care for seeing a pile of choppers and non-combat aircraft on the deck, maybe just one or two. A couple pieces of junk is OK. Tis a beautiful thing!
In a public server where you dont trust anyone. Agreed. In a private or squadron server, where you tell people to announce before they change deck config and make sure nobody gets smashed to pieces, that would work great. Can even custumize so that only admin "Groups" see the radio menu or something like that.

The HH-60's are usually nose towards the island because they are towed by a towbar attached to the tail wheel. Like the look of the carrier.

You can populate the deck with static objects out the box. What you cant do, without messing with LUA files, is what is shown on this video.

It would be great to have this type of script created for the LHA-1 Tarawa and Av-8B as well.

Was the issue of static aircraft being spawned halfway into the deck over multiplayer ever fixed? That was the only reason I quit using dynamic decks.
I tested this in multiplayer and works fine

I used the add radio menu item to load the lua files, and made a lua file for each configuration.
